the Lightning Parade

Saturday evening it was time for a new parade: The Lightning Parade.

This parade was more about the costumes and resembled the carnival. It was very nice to see, but this still was not the real carnival parade. Unfortunately it is next week Saturday, the day we leave.

The Jouvert Morning Pyjama Party

It's weekend again.

After a busy week you might expect us to enjoy Friday and have a drink but that was not the case. We went to sleep early because that night we had to get up at 3 o'clock to go to San Nicolas to attend the annual Jouvert Morning Pyjama Party.

This is a tradition in Aruba. Thousands of people come together in San Nicolas to follow the different cars with live music, who plays their soca and calypso music in the streets of the center. They do this in preparation for carnival.

It was a special experience that I will never forget. People dancing in the streets, everyone is happy. It’s just one happy island. we walked along in the parade until the sun rose. It was magnificent.

kleine update

De eerste werkweek zit erop en het weekend is van start gegaan.

Ik heb deze week al veel verschillende taken gekregen zoals camera’s vervangen, kabels maken, computers repareren, muizen maken en nog vele meer. Af en toe zijn het lange dagen geweest maar die worden goed gemaakt door het prachtige uitzicht en onze geweldige groep.

Vandaag zijn we vroeg vertrokken uit ons verblijf zodat we de hooiberg konden beklimmen. Daarna hebben we het rustig gehouden en zijn we gaan rusten aan het strand. Straks gaan we nog iets drinken maar het gaat niet laat worden want morgen hebben we een jeeptocht gepland. Heb er zin in!

computers for charity

Today was my first day in the University, my internship supervisor was super nice and he told me a lot about the history of the University. In the morning I was given a tour of the building and an explanation of my tasks for these three weeks.

One of my tasks was repairing computers for charity and this is what I did all afternoon. It was very cool but I still have a lot computers to repair.

After this long day the whole group and I gathered at the park at the university where Mss Noyens picked us up with the minivan. We went to the hotel where the girls cooked for us.

It was an instructive and busy day wich we quietly conclude with good food and a drink.

Rustig dagje

Vandaag zijn we de dag begonnen met een heerlijk ontbijtje hier in het resort. Daarna zijn we inkopen gaan doen zodat we al de basisproducten hebben voor hier te overleven de komende drie weken.

In de namiddag zijn we vertrokken richting het centrum. Daar hebben we enkele winkels bezocht, iets gaan drinken en afgesloten met een zalige maaltijd.

Hierna hebben we het california lighthouse bezocht en zijn we naar het strand gereden waar we ons rustig dagje hebben afgesloten met een fenomenale zonsondergang.

Vandaag kruipen we vroeg ons bed in zodat we morgen allemaal uitgeslapen zijn voor onze eerste dag stage. spannend😜😜

First day in Aruba

Yesterday we arrived in Aruba after a long flight of ten hours.

We didn’t miss anything on our flight, we even got two delicious meals during our time on the plane. It was an amazing experience.

As soon as we arrived on the airport we hired a minivan to go to our stay. After the long trip we went straight into the pool even before we installed ourselves in our studio. Later that night we went to the bar for a few drinks and went into bed.

University of Aruba

Over vier dagen is het eindelijk zo ver. Dan kan ik mijn koffers pakken voor drie weken stage in de universiteit van Aruba.

De universiteit van Aruba bevindt zich in Oranjestad. We zullen ons elke dag moeten verplaatsen met een wagen. Deze zal bestuurd worden door de leerkracht die dan aanwezig is. Ik zal mijn stage doorbrengen in de IT-afdeling op de universiteit. Ik ben erg dankbaar voor deze kans.

Blue Village

Blue village is the name of the resort where we will be staying during our internship. It is located northern side of Aruba and has 60 apartments. Blue village also has a pool but that’s not interesting because we’re there for work.😉I am really looking forward to stay there.

Hallo iedereen, 9 februari vertrek ik met vijf medeleerlingen naar het prachtige eiland Aruba voor een stage van drie weken. Dat wordt een geweldige ervaring die ik graag met jullie wil delen via deze blog.

Ik ben zeer benieuwd welke ervaringen Ik allemaal ga beleven en hoe het leven in Aruba gaat zijn. Natuurlijk hoop ik op een leerrijke stage en waar ik veel ervaring op kan doen die ik eventueel kan gebruiken in de toekomst.

De gezonde stress is al aanwezig en ik kan al niet meer wachten tot het zover is.
