how do you think of ideas for an roleplay?
Truly, I think it just boils down to pushing myself to read/watch a variety of things Iβd never otherwise watch? Whether that be a movie, or a short novel, or even just the odd video on Youtube β Β maybe itβs because I tend to format my roleplays as a proper βwriting a novel with other peopleβ experience, and I plan out the full extent of that story before even advertising β but, as a general thing, I take inspiration from media-based content?Β
Of course, then I spend a few hours making the concept my own, and making the plot roleplayable, and every idea I use will always have some form of my own creative spin on it. But, it always starts with someone elseβs play at inspiration.
Like, for example, I re-watched SPACE QUEST a few days ago, and I still have about 15 roleplay ideas floating around in my head? And, actually, Iβm going to make a little list of all the different things Iβve taken direct inspiration from, and havenβt made a roleplay in result of. So, if youβre looking for a plot idea, or just want a nifty little burst of inspiration, maybe these could inspire someΒ unique roleplay plots? Either way, I hope it helps!
