you long-suffering, endlessly patient angels get two memes today bc i deleted everything in my inbox on my rp blog and i made these memes to top off a solidly productive day! also, if you ever feel guilty about “not being productive” or having to delete drafts and memes in your tumblr life, DON’T! you’re wonderful and valid and your personal comfort and peace of mind is far more important than an overwhelming inbox or draft count! anyway, these are also self-serving, but also i feel no shame bc there’s an extreme lack of this very good vibe in my line of work, so here u go besties. DO NOT ADD ANYTHING TO THIS LIST!!

Tales of Glory: [ Natlan ]

Hello, my cuties! Now this is all brain rot I got from watching Wakanda Forever and seeing Talokan. Let me explain what is Talokan — spoilers to Wakanda Forever head so ignore this whole headcanon if you want to watch the movie first!

Talokan is based on the mythical Aztec paradise Tlālōcān, reigned over by the rain god Tlālōc. In ancient Aztec culture, the city was an afterlife destination for anyone who perished by drowning or by lightning. It's a hidden kingdom ruled by Namor, the Sub-Mariner. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever suggests that a fragment of the meteor that gave Wakanda vibranium, or another similar meteor, landed in the part of the world where Mesoamerican culture flourished.

Some 500 years prior, his mother was a member of a tribe in the Yucatan area of what is now Mexico. This tribe was terrorized by Spanish colonists, and tried to escape from them. Each member of the tribe drank a special herb from a glowing plant that looked just like the ones we know from Wakanda. This plant gave them the power to breathe underwater, but they could no longer survive on the surface. Centuries later, with breathing apparatus, they could emerge from the depths. But their skin would turn blue on contact with air. Only Namor was different from the rest of his tribe. Namor’s mother was pregnant when she ingested the herb, and so he became the first child born underwater. But possibly due to his being just a fetus when the herb entered his body, he came out a bit different. A mutant. He could survive underwater as well as on the surface without assistance, and could fly due to the tiny wings on his feet. He also had super strength and durability. All part of his mutation, a mutation no doubt connected to the herb. Under Namor’s rule, the people of Talokan have harnessed the power of the oceans, and in some cases, sea life itself, to their advantage.

Now you may ask why I’m getting brainrot of Natlan with Talokan? The thing I loved about Talokan there’s respectful and researched Mayan and Aztec influences in the empire and the people down to them speaking Mayan as well. Now my Murata view the sun and stars as a source of pyro energy and life.

Unlike Talokan being a hidden underwater empire, perhaps Natlan is a hidden city underground as well? After the death of the pyro archon, they’re hide underground or forced underground by the abyss. Having their fake sun for artificial closure to the death of the original pyro archon or normalcy back at the surface.

I want to believe like my Murata, that Natlan praises the sun like The civilizations from ancient pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, including the Aztec, Incan, and Mayan empires. These civilizations were sun worshipers and careful observers of astrological movement. The Aztec saw themselves as "the People of the Sun," whose divine duty was to wage cosmic war in order to provide the sun with his tlaxcaltiliztli ("nourishment").

I might touch up this headcanon more but this is the base ideas for how I see Natlan until it’s revealed more in game (possibly 2024 most likely pfft)

Bruises and Bruising

“You shouldn’t end up with bruises because you disagree with them. You know that, right?”

“Will you tell me how it happened?”

“Come and sit with me.”

ACTIONS

[sit] – sender comes and sits next to a bruised receiver. no words, just warmth.

[care] – sender provides physical care for receiver’s bruises (ice pack, wrapping them up, etc)

[shower] – sender takes one look at a bruised and bloody receiver, and goes to run them a shower. hot showers fix everything.

[offer] – sender has something they know receiver will want, and because receiver has had a bad enough day as it is, sender gives it to them. it’s the little things.

[stay] – sender offers receiver a place to stay, so that – wherever they got these bruises – they don’t have to go back.

[concussion] – sender checks receiver for a concussion, because it’s very possible receiver has one.

[home] – sender has no physical way of helping receiver out of this situation, but they offer out their hand anyway. just to hold onto (and to not let go).

@al-hazen : A scholar and warmonger first meeting!

The general look around the sight of the city with a rishboland resting on her shoulders. She enjoyed the beautiful jungle of Sumeru and found their aggressive animals a fun challenge even befriended the tempered cat but caused many citizens fear and discomfort seeing the two.

She came to see the younger deity after the fiasco that happened in Sumeru. Murata burst through the Akademiya’s doors a boisterous laugh and calls out for Buer making sages and students look over at her in disbelief.

When Nahida had made mention of Natlan’s Archon taking something of a vacation in Sumeru, it was only natural that her Familiar act as an usher instead of letting someone of such great importance to their own devices. Nahida was busy, it was true, but any time needed could be taken if it meant playing the part of a diplomat.

“I see you’ve already made yourself familiar with our wildlife,” Al-Haytham greeted the war goddess with frank notes of amusement in his voice, difficult to disguise the mirth. Most of the time, such interactions were discouraged, but he didn’t doubt that Murata could command more than just legions of men. Why not an odd tiger or two?

Murata blinks a bit at the scholar talking to her and looks around before down at the shorter male. A blank stare while she tries to recall what Buer called her close advisors — the tiger on her shoulder let out a loud yawn before sticking out his tongue in a lazy blep.

❝ You're..those sages? Or something else? No matter! I'll find out sooner or later, where is little Buer? I have much to tell her about my discoveries in the jungles and desert! Many gifts as well that I did steal! ❞

She ended her excited burst with a boisterous laugh before resting her fist against her hip.

❝ This tiger strikes no fear! He's an overgrown cat-like rest! Do you wish to pet him? I found these little weird bugs as well but they scurry away when I try to grab them in the desert. ❞

hey! sorry if this comes off as rude, but one of your faceclaims (caenis from f/go) is canonically a trans man, so it's in very poor taste to use him as a faceclaim for a woman. please reconsider using him, there are quite a few cis anime women who fall into that design description you could use instead, thank you
