devil in the details ; [closed]
Takuto hadn’t stirred too much. A whine may have escaped him as Kida moved about in the room and he may or may not have taken the other’s pillow to cover his head. It was too early for this… Proof that he wasn’t so disciplined anymore. As enjoyable as it might be to get up with the birds.. His body rejected the idea and he often slept late.
This morning was different.
Not only did the aroma of fresh baked cookies linger in the air.. There was something uncomfortable about his rest. First.. A voice.. He stirred once more, groaning this time as he restlessly moved about. Soon enough, a mess of red hair popped out from under the pillow and blankets. Takuto yawned, stretching reeeeeeal big in order to wake himself up. “… Eh?” Now he noticed.. Both hands moved to touch the collar around his neck.
Eyes widened and he gripped the collar, giving it a gentle tug before looking around the room in a panic. Not again..! After last time? He wasn’t so sure what to think of collars. “K-.. Masaomi..?!” His call came out a little high pitched as the youth scrambled out of the bed, almost falling flat on his face in the process. Nevertheless, he’d saved himself from collapsing onto the floor.. He did stumble a few steps, kicking the sheet from his foot before going to find where the other had gone.
Kida located. In the kitchen.. Takuto had kind of forgotten about the cookie smell, pausing right where he stood. “.. What are you..?” He was almost dumbfounded.. Hadn’t the other noticed the collars? Of course, Takuto was completely ignorant to the situation.. He found no chest.. No warnings. Just..
Early morning baking.
It was definitely a calming scene.. The collar was temporarily forgotten and he moved over to join Kida, smiling just a touch.
“What are you doing..? It’s a little early for this, isn’t it?” The boy simply watched for a bit, tilting his head to the side. There was some hesitation, seeing as his cooking experience wasn’t the greatest, but he lifted one of the utensils used. “Need some help? Or are you about finished..?”
An idle hand reached into the pocket, thumb running over the stopper only to be taken out in haste when Takuto's voice was heard. There was no need to be nervous though; he'd make a batch for him if he was really that hungry. It would absolutely work out.
"Ah, did I wake you up?" Kida's acting was good enough to feign concern--or anything, really--as he slowly pulled the cookies from the tray and into a basket. "I couldn't sleep with this stupid thing on, so I figured why not get it off right away..." "If you don't know, it's some ridiculous morale boosting thing. Do a nice deed and it pops off." A finger reached to tap his own collar, silently curse whoever did this to them. "So why not kill two birds with one stone? If I make these and you hand 'em out, we're both free, right?" The male's smile was as innocent as it ever could be, passing off the remainder of untainted dough to Takuto. "I'd say go back to bed but if you really want, you can start getting the rest of them ready. They're yours so do whatever you want with them, I guess." His words were accented with a shrug, although the next would escape him with just the slightest edge. "Just don't touch these ones... We wouldn't want to jeopardize the mission right?"
Understatement.
