Decided to redraw my Lulubelle Loon redesign. Not gonna go on a rant this time, but general info: I headcanon her as Inuit and I drew her as a Red-throated loon.

Nestor loves his wiggly boy. Itâs cute. It often makes him smile and laugh to watch Fethry wiggle around. He wonders if he should be concerned by how still Fethry is. He softly hisses at him and runs his fingers gently over the top of Fethâs feathers.
âŠBut then suddenly words. A lot of words. Woah.
Nestor doesnât follow all of that. He doesnât know what Fethry means when heâs talking about an egg. Egg, what egg? Heâs not going to ask, heâs just going to focus on the parts he understood.
ZĂ© has Nestor convinced itâs best they hide the most concerning aspects of their relationship away from Fethie. But if ZĂ© was being a manipulative jerk, well⊠then thatâs already revealed. âZĂ© can be a real fucking asshole sometimesâŠâ
âI think itâs for the best you walked away and didnât let him tangle you upâŠ. Iâm glad you left.â The corner of his mouth twitches slightly. Nestor thought ZĂ© was being nice to Fethry, but what if heâs been subtly using him for things for awhile and this was just the first time someone noticed? Nestor will destroy him. Absolutely destroy him. ZĂ© is not allowed to do this to Feth.
Despite some anger boiling up, having his husband snuggled up keeps him fairly calm. Nestor continues to rhythmically pet Fethry. Slow soothing motions.
Nestor isnât mad at him. Fethry starts nuzzling against Nestorâs chest. Nestorâs not mad. He did the right thing.
âQuestions?â Right now, Fethry feels like thereâs nothing else to say, but heâs aware he might have a skewed perspective. Does Nestor have other questions? Fethry feels like he can answer them right now. Heâs said a lot but maybe he didnât say the right things. He doesnât want Nestor to be left wondering and worrying.
xhumbuugx
Scrooge gives a tiny smile and a shrug at comment. It was true that Quackmore didnât really like anyone, and he didnât know much about Fethryâs father, but heâd take his word for it.
âAhâm sure she wasnât, lad.â A hand is placed on his nephewâs shoulder. Scrooge isnât tremendous at comfort, but he tries his best. âAnâ Ahâm sure ye are too.â A bigger, encouraging smile forms on his beak.
âDo ye know why Ah believe in people like Gyro, or Launchpad, or Fenton, or even Quackfaster? Itâs because no one has ever given them a chance. Everyone sees them as dangerous, or crazy, or useless, but Ah donât. Ah see wonderful, magnificent people who can work jusâ as hard as anyone else. Even more so. Ah see thâ same in ye.â
Fethry blinks owlishly at Scrooge, letting his words really sink in. Scrooge believes in him. And his face lights up with that realization.
Without any real warning Fethry pulls his uncle into an enthusiastic hug. âThank you, so much. It means the world to me to hear that.â Fethry doesnât get a lot of encouragement from people.
fethryfatalistâ:
Fethry stares intently at the glass. Does he want to?⊠Yes. He doesnât feel thirsty, but he knows heâs thirsty and would like to not feel any ickier. He gently takes the glass and takes few sips before handing it back to Nestor.
Fethry melts a little at the kisses. He loves Nestor so much. He gives Nestor some preen kisses of his own, before he leads him to the bedroom. He gently pulls Nestor along until theyâre both on the bed and he can snuggle Nestor properly.
Nestor makes a few little hisses with some odd clicks sprinkled in-between.
Is it weird that he likes this? He kind of likes it when Fethry decides to stop using words. He likes that they donât need them. Earlier on in the relationship it scared Nestor a little but now itâs just⊠somehow soothing to abandon verbal language. It feels right? Hmm. Maybe itâs weird but maybe being weird is actually great thing to be.
Nestor sets the glass of water on the night stand. He watches Fethry for a moment. Something was wrong and ZĂ© did something and Nestor is still wondering what it wasâŠâŠ
Chirp chirp. Nestor makes some tiny sweet little chirpy sounds and nuzzles against Fethry. Itâs cuddle time, it will be talking time again whenever Fethry is ready. Nestor loves cuddle time so much.
Sometimes Fethry is wiggly for cuddles, constantly moving, constantly nuzzling, fingers tippy-tapping, toes wiggling. And sometimes he's not.
He's not today. He gets nestled up real close. Legs tangled with Nestor's and hands holding him close. And then he relaxes, practically melting. And he's still. Stiller than he normally is.
And he's quiet for a while. And then he starts talking. "He tried manipulating me and it was scary." That sentence was simple enough. What was the next part. "He wasn't doing it to be mean. He just wanted to force me to take his help. I want to take his help. But he kept twisting words. I got tangled in them and I felt trapped. He was trying to use my connection to you against me. I just walked away. I'm sorry. I didn't. I can't win against those words. They make me trip and pull me in. I can't reason with them. I can't save you too. I'm sorry. I didn't want to. I love you. But they kept me for so long because of the egg. It's so easy for them to manipulate someone with who they care about. I was trapped. Only way I could get out was to be selfish. I didn't- I'm sorry. I'm sorry." His words are getting taggled again. He hadn't meant to say all that, but all the words kept coming.
fethryfatalistâ:
Feeling relieved, Fethry stops hiding his face in Nestorâs shoulder so that he can nuzzle Nestorâs face. Then after awhile he pets Nestorâs face and points in the direction of their bedroom. When they eventually talk heâd prefer the privacy theyâd have there.
The face pat makes Nestorâs tongue come out. He likes having his face touched, it feels so intimate and so loving and.. Oh Fethie is communicating. He looks at the bedroom. âOh, yes. Ok.â Thatâs a good place to go.
He lets go of Fethry for a moment so he can somewhat put away the tools he was using. He doesnât completely put everything away. He wants it to be clear to anyone who might come by to use the sink that heâs in the middle of a process. Heâll fix this later. He fills up a glass of water he had in here to take with him. âWe can share this if you want.â He tells Fethry. They gay and kiss all the time they donât need separate drinking glass.
Nestor wraps one arm around Fethryâs arm and nibble-kisses his hubbyâs cheek. He will let Fethry lead them to the bedroom.
Fethry stares intently at the glass. Does he want to?... Yes. He doesn't feel thirsty, but he knows he's thirsty and would like to not feel any ickier. He gently takes the glass and takes few sips before handing it back to Nestor.
Fethry melts a little at the kisses. He loves Nestor so much. He gives Nestor some preen kisses of his own, before he leads him to the bedroom. He gently pulls Nestor along until they're both on the bed and he can snuggle Nestor properly.

âOk sweetie. Weâll stay here for now. If you want something different make a noise and Iâll figure it out.â Any time Fethry wants to go somewhere else theyâll go. For now Nestor is thinking Fethie wants to stay right here.
He can remember that it used to be any time Fethry was upset, Nestor would panic. He didnât know how to handle Fethryâs big emotions. But now this feels very natural. Yes, his heart hurts that his husband is distressed but⊠He knows Fethie will be ok. And he feels like he knows what he needs to do to help.
Click⊠Click⊠ClickâŠ. Rattle rattle. Heâs making small noises. The clicks are slow and follow a repetitive rhythm. The rattles last longer and have a fascinating rolling noise quality to them.
Feeling relieved, Fethry stops hiding his face in Nestorâs shoulder so that he can nuzzle Nestorâs face. Then after awhile he pets Nestorâs face and points in the direction of their bedroom. When they eventually talk heâd prefer the privacy theyâd have there.
compain heiro
Fethry is snuggling and cuddling up real close. Nestor understands this to mean that lots of affection is good right now. Fethie would like to be held in a way that feels loving and secure. Heâs glad to hold Feth close. These very intimate hugs are Nestorâs favorite.
He makes a few tiny hiss-clicks for Fethie. I love you handsome bird Iâm glad you came and asked for a hug this feels good for me too. His feathers have fluffed up a bit as they tend to do when Nestor feels protective. It makes him feel softer. Itâs so easy to snuggle and hide in.
Helping Fethie feel safe and protecting him is of immeasurable importance.
He assumes Fethry is feeling less interested in words right now so he doesnât want to talk too much, mostly make bird noises. But Nestor has one question heâd like to ask. âWould you like to go to the living room?â Or is staying here fine? Cuddling on the couch would be more comfy. He expects Feth to answer with a head movement or a noise.
Fethry loves Nestorâs bird sounds. Theyâre safe. They make sense.Â
Fethry shakes his head no. The living room might nicer, but right now Fethry wants control. Fethry knows Nestor would never force him to do something he doesnât want to... But JosĂ©, his friend, has him all jumbled up. Heâs not really sure of anything right now. So saying no, even on something little, and having Nestor respect that, having that reaffirmation of control, it means the world. He needs to say no right now. He needs to be listened to even if he canât think of words quite yet.

Nestor had been in the middle of trying to unclog the sink using a sink snake. He doesnât have any confirmation but he has vague suspicion that this clogged sink might be the result of Dugan⊠or Zé⊠Probably not Maude. Probably not Fethry. Those two tend to let Nestor know when something happened he needs to fix.
Sink isnât as important as his husband, of course. âScaring?â Nestor repeats. Anger. Itâs a very familiar emotion heâs VERY used to directing at his best friend. He wants more details so he can reprimand JosĂ©, but he can tell Fethry just needs only hugs right now. Not explaining. Nestor will be angry later.
âYes, yes. Is this a good hug?â He wraps his arms loose around Fethry. Nestor will gauge how Fethy reacts and give him the kind of hug Feth needs. Heâll hold him close and tight if thatâs what Feth needs. He doesnât need Fethry to answer using words. Feth could sigh, hum or whine. He could move his body closer to snuggle up more. Nestor will know what it means.
Fethry is so grateful Nestor doesnât need an explanation right away. It was so difficult figuring out that initial sentence. He doesnât know how heâd even start to explain all the implications behind what JosĂ© said and why it upset him.
Fethry snuggles closer to Nestor, clinging and hiding his face in Nestorâs shoulder. He letâs out a sigh. Everything will be fine. He told Nestor. They can untangle the words later. Heâs safe. Theyâre safe. Everything will be fine.
@compan-heiro
Fethry does not owe an explination to anyone. But he's shaken up and scared. So he's found Nestor. Because José said he was going to tell Nestor and he can't let José talk to him first. He can't- he can't-
"Can I have a hug? I tried to talk to José about stupid people, but he ended up scarying me."
Fethry had spent his entire time finding Nestor thinking of how he wanted to word things. It took a lot longer for Fethry to find Nestor than he normally would. The words feel pale compared to the storm in his head.
jose-carioca
Asking JosĂ© to stop smooth talking is a difficult request. JosĂ© doesnât know how to stop. He doesnât realize heâs doing it. The best lies are lies the liar believes. How can he be treating Fethry awful right now? JosĂ© believes heâs being nice. The belief shows in his body language. The concern on his face. Isnât it obvious JosĂ© is being nice? Why is Fethry mad at JosĂ© for being protective? A good friend? JosĂ© isnât doing anything wrong by deeply caring about his friend.
âYou were making it sound like you would not tell me if it happened again. Like you were upset I might look out for you, so you would hide it from me.â JosĂ© replies. He tries to make his reaction justified while deflecting the blame onto Fethry. If Fethry had made it clear he would continue to be open with JosĂ©, he wouldnât have began to make any of these threats. He tries to make it Fethryâs fault.
âI have been through hell and I am terrified to think you might go through it too.â He disclosed a deeply personal thing to try to make Fethry feel a sense of obligation and pity. He told his tragic backstory as means to justify his reactions. âIt terrifies me to imagine you going through anything like I did.â JosĂ© has had an awful time, Fethry. JosĂ© has more experience in this industry.
âBut we can stop talking for now. I think it is an intense conversation for us both.â He respects Fethryâs boundaries a little. Not fully. Just a little. When JosĂ© gives someone a little it makes him look like heâs taking their feelings into consideration. âBut I would feel guilty to keep this secret from Nestor for too long.â The threat is still present. JosĂ© presents it as feeling guilty for Nestorâs sake rather than being manipulative.
The entire time JosĂ© talks he is very calm. He uses a tone that is gentle and respectful. He never sounds harsh or angry at Fethry. Itâs so much easier to know without a doubt that someone is being mean when their voice is mean, but JosĂ© sounds so nice.
âI am sorry if you are upset. I am trying to be a good friend.â
Thereâs a buzzing in Fethryâs head. Itâs not showing on his face or even fully registering in his thoughts, but heâs panicking.Â
He has to hold on tight to the fact that his feelings are valid and justified. JosĂ© is trying to gas light him and itâs terrifying. Because Fethry has been in this situation before.
And already said he would open up? Why is JosĂ© still pushing? He agreed to get away from the words, but JosĂ© is still pushing pushing. Trapping Fethry with words like they did. He feels claustrophobic. Fethry knows he wants to believe JosĂ©. It would be so much easier just to believe him. But he canât. Heâs trapping him. Heâs using Nestor against him like they used the egg against him and-
And Fethry just turns and walks away from JosĂ© with no further response. He ignores the bonds of social construct. He ignores his fear for Nestor like he ignored his fear for the egg all those years ago. He walks away. He can walk away. He has control. it doesnât feel like a concision decision to walk away. It feels like something that his feet just started doing. It feels almost like when he walk off stage during filming. But thatâs okay. Itâs close enough.Â
He feels gross and selfish, but he canât let go of his control. Not again. Never again.
xhumbuugx
The smile remained on Scroogeâs face until Fethryâs comment. He blinked and turned to look at his nephew. Oh. Perhaps the compliment he paid his Bin staff wouldnât be that too well received with everyone. Perhaps he shouldâve thought that through.
âYer grandmother mightâve mentioned it.â He admits, putting his hand in his pocket for gold coins to squeeze. âAh didnaeâ really know Quackmoreâs side of thâ family very well. Didnaeâ even know Quackmore that well either.â He shrugs, glancing away.
âThey didnaeâ like me that much.â
âGrandma likes you.â That much Fethry knows for sure. âAnd to be fair, Iâm pretty sure my dad and uncle Quackmore didnât like most people.. â
âAnyway I just.. My mom wasnât crazy. Sometimes I feel- I mean everyone seems to think Iâm... I donât know about myself, but my mother was a good person.â
Itâs rare for Fethry to acknowledge how other people see him, because he knows. He knows what people say behind his back. Heck, they say it to his face often enough. Itâs a wonder people think he doesnât notice. It just shows how much people underestimate him.
jose-carioca
Oh, Fethry spotted him. JosĂ© does a lot of things to try to manipulate people into doing the things he wants them to do. They donât always notice. The fact Fethry is glaring means he noticed. JosĂ© may have underestimated Fethry.
Will he back down? No. Heâs going to double down on the manipulation.
âLet me tell you a secret I am not supposed to tell. But Nestor is your husband so I think you have a right to know. There is so much Nestor tells me that he does not tell you.â
âHe has been terrified out of his mind about you being an actor. Heâs afraid, so afraid. He has watched Hollywood chew me up and spit me out. He watched me try to kill myself by overdosing because of the stress of Hollywood. Do you have any idea how scared he is for you? Terrified someone will mistreat you? Terrified the cruelty of fame will hurt you?â
âShould I tell him something bad happened to you? Is it his right to know because he is your husband? He has been trying to stay away from your Hollywood career and isnât being watchful because itâs stressful to him. He has so many bad memories. But maybe I need to tell him so he can look out for you⊠Or I can look out for you so Nestor doesnât have to be stressed. If I trust you will let me look out for you I wonât feel like I must tell Nestor to look out for you. What do you think?â
JosĂ© wants to help Fethry and keep him safe. He will use his own best friendâs mental health as a bargaining chip. He doesnât see any of his threats as being wrong. Because he knows how hard the industry can be. He sees it as necessary to protect Fethry whether Fethry likes it or not.
A hurt expression settles on to Fethryâs face as JosĂ© tells him about Nestorâs worries.
He holds his hands up, palms out. Like that will stop the on slot of hurtful things coming out of JosĂ©âs mouth. It takes him a bit to find his words. âStop.â Fethry takes a deep breath. âI was already talking to you. I was nervous, but I was already telling you things. Just- stop with the smooth talk. You didnât need to say any of that to get me to open up.â If anything it was making Fethry put up walls.
People always underestimate Fethry. Thatâs part of the problem.
@xhumbuugx continued
Fethry sighed, rubbing at the back of his neck. When he had first heard Scrooge use that phrase he had been rather angry, but the feeling has since simmered down to discontent. How could he stay mad when his Uncle obviously wasnât saying it maliciously?
âYou do know.. My mom was a Loon right?â Fethry asks tentatively. He doesnât know if Scrooge knew. Doesnât know if he ever even interacted with his parents. Doesnât know if Lulubelle would even make that information public after marrying into the Duck family.
Loons do have a reputation after all.
jose-carioca
âFethry, Hollywood is a nightmare. You need to learn to stand up for yourself or have someone stand up for you. Thereâs a reason so many human celebrities struggle with so many disorders and problems. And you know we toons can also develop problems too.â JosĂ© doesnât want to see Celebrity Culture chew Fethry up and spit him out. He doesnât want to hear Nestor yelling I told you so I knew this was a bad idea blah blah blahâŠ
âI will not act in any way to protect you if thatâs what you want. I wonât talk to anyone about this issue. I promise this, swear on Waltâs spirit.â He draws an x-pattern over his chest. âBut for me to agree to this deal, I want you to agree to promise me that you tell me if anyone gives you troubles. Even small troubles. I want to hear about all of it and I want to support you at least in conversation.â
âI am telling you this industry can be a bad place and I want to make safe for you. It does not have to be a bad place, it can be wonderful and good.â
Logically Fethry knows José is only trying to help right now.
But something in JosĂ©âs wording flipped a switch inside Fethry and he feels angry. Thatâs not a deal JosĂ©âs offering. Thatâs blackmail. Do what I want or Iâll do this thing that will have bad consequences for you. So what if JosĂ©âs trying to help?! Fethry is so sick and tired of other people deciding whatâs better for him.
Fethry canât think of anything to say. Heâs too angry to form words. He just glares at his good friend for apparently no reason. Itâs very unlike Fethry.
"Wal.mart is a capitalistic, florescent lighted, sensory overload hell."
xhumbuugx
Scrooge tilted his head a moment before he understood what Fethry was explaining. âA weekly pill organizer, Fethry.â His uncle answered in a kind way. It was always important for Scrooge to not have a wrong tone whenever explaining things to his nephew. Heâd take to sound condescending. âThough even wiâ its help Ah too sometimes forget.â He gives a tiny chuckle before nodding.
âAh think itâs a grand idea. Launchpad usually keeps Gyroâs old inventions in a crate in thâ back. Letâs look for it, shall we?â Scrooge said, heel-turning towards the Sun Chaser. âAhâm sure itâll be easy taeâ find.â
Fethry snaps and points at scrooge. âThose are the words!â
Fethry follows behind Scrooge instead of walking next to him. Fethry doesnât always fall back like this, but itâs an old habit he has trouble breaking. âOf course! Iâm sure itâll be near the top!â And Fethry certainly has the crowbar skills to open the boxes to search for it.Â
xhumbuugx
âWe did actually.â Scrooge says, chuckling a bit at the memory. âMy main inventor, Gyro build some sort of a megaphone taeâ make small voices large and large people small.â He was quite proud of all the inventions Gyro made, even if all of them usually flipped everyone on their heads. Metaphorically or physically.
âWhat exactly are ye thinkinâ?â
âWell if we can shrink it down itâs going to be a lot easier to carry out of here. If we get it really small we could even carry it something inconspicuous like- uh. The thing?â Fethry makes some ambiguous hand gestures. âThat holds pills? Thereâs a little cubby for each day of the week? Iâm drawing a blank on what itâs called. You have one of those on you right? If not you should probably get one. Theyâre really helpful for remembering to take medicine.âÂ
Fethry has lost what they were talking about. Hopefully Scrooge has gotten the gist of what Fethryâs plan was. âThough even with them Iâm kind of bad at remembering so I downloaded a little app on my phone. Of course that only works when I remember to charge my phone. So, eh, itâs all trial and error.â
