I'm having Koito brainworms, help
Something she does in her event is shill Oriko a little bit (tbh she does it in the manga too), and I think it's because her sister Komaki was SO obsessed with Oriko. Oriko was always beating Komaki at grades and stuff and Oriko would get under Komaki's skin like no other,
so finally actually meeting Oriko and seeing that she's this polite, kind, soft-spoken, and gentle individual with genuine intelligence behind her words must have felt like affirming everything Komaki ever said. Like yeah, this is someone who could be Komaki's love interest, I mean friend, I mean rival.
And then when Komaki died? Koito knew Oriko had gone through something similar with her dad (and mom's!) death. Koito had to witness Komaki's name get smeared on social media and in real life, and Koito knew that Oriko had gone through the same thing, but Oriko was still going to school and still being the same person she always was. And it's implied that Koito really values things staying the same.
No wonder Koito was Oriko shilling for a bit. Oriko isn't Komaki, but she's a link to Komaki that Koito was desperately holding on to. And seeing someone stay themselves despite everything, despite all the trauma and pain, must have felt so validating and hopeful. Maybe things can get back to normal. Maybe I'll be okay. Maybe I can lose my sister but she's not really gone. Maybe I can find my sister in the people who knew her. Maybe I can represent my sister in my actions.
And for Oriko to then give Koito some advice and comfort? Fabulous. Oriko was at the top of the pedestal.
Then you discover the link to your sister, the hope you have for your future is actually responsible for the terror of your past. SHE KILLED YOUR SISTER. SHE KILLED HER SISTER AND TOLD YOU IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT WHEN SHE KNEW IT WAS HER OWN. THE FUCKING AUDACITY OF HER TO DO ALL OF THAT TO YOU AND THEN OFFER YOU ADVICE WITH A SWEET SMILE ON HER FACE.
No wonder Koito is going through it. Finding out the truth of Oriko must have felt like losing her sister all over again.
Hell, not only that-- but Komaki was implied to be so good at judging people... and Komaki was fooled by Oriko's nonsense.
Koito is just getting slapped left and hell and right by Oriko and Oriko isn't even alive anymore.
Poor Koito.
Remember kids, dont draw characters from mind especially if you're not familiar with the source material.
Hey, Yachiyo. Long time no see.
