Oh, get a grip on yourself, man!
When this arc is over, Asamiād better offer an apology and a greatĀ āthank youā to Fei Long.
Because he is constantly directing his bitching and his complains towards the wrong person. But the situation he finds himself in is not Fei Longās fault, not his doing, ā¦ itās not even slightly influenced by him.
Instead it is Asamiās own screw up - with great help from Chernobog and Sudou, probably some from Sakazaki and a tiny bit from Mikhail. And after he screwed up, he now spent months of trying to fix said screw-up without any success, estranging himself from Akihito, who is threatening to break up with him, and probably hunting halfway around the globe - until he decides to set up HQ in Hong Kong - bringing his trouble into another manās territory - knowing fully well that Fei Long will not sit idly by whilst otherās do as they please in his backyard.
But Fei Long doesnāt even spring to action the very moment he learns about Asamiās appearance in Hong Kong. He in fact stays idle until Asamiās mess starts to actually interfere with him, when some henchman tries to grab Tao from the street to gather intel on Asami.
But of cause proud Asami is once again not capable of owning up to the shit heās shoveling.Ā
Chernobog had been watching Fei Long, because they wanted Asami. Fei Long had no idea, what was going on, against whom Asami was up against or why he was there in the first place. Had he been told, he would not have had to show up at Asamiās place unannounced. If he had been warned, he might have been able to avoid being followed. But then again: how likely is it that he little henchman Fei Long captured and got into talking would not have been found by Chernobog soon enough anyway.
And furthermore Asami is a smart man. So he must have anticipated that Fei Long would not just watch. He must have known that he would act, must have known that Chernobog would likely keep an eye on him as the connection between Fei Long and Asami obviously was not unknown to them. But instead of using his smartness and thereby acting beforehand, Asami once again relied on playing by his own rules.
However, if you play by your own rules and throw common sense overboard then you might at least face the fact that the outcome is your own fault.
So at the end of the battle on his little Hong Kong HQ Asami finds himself getting drugged and shipped off into presumed safety with Akihito (I will come back to this in part 2. See below), while Fei Long takes over to sort out his mess. That mess which Asami obviously hadnāt even found any start to dig himself out of.
And no, the plan to have Asami and Akihito being taken to one of Fei Longās villas in Macao does not work out - yet again because Chernobog is so much more powerful than anticipated by anyone and has obviously explicit intel not only on Asami but also on Fei Long. We donāt even have to wonder how they came by some of that: Sudou (and probably Sakazaki). Again Asamiās own screw up!
At least the man got himself some sexy time with Akihito on that island (to the bliss of the readers) while others had to find their way to the following chapters the hard way, through kidnapping and torture. Sadly the fresh air did not do anything to correct Asamiās slightly-off perception and the next time he meets Fei Long (in the Macao warehouse) he again complains:
For someone who didnāt have any plan at all, thatās quite a mouthful, Mr. Asami!
Heās really lucky that Fei Longās Tsundere is usually muted by his politeness.
I donāt even know where to begin. Maybe at the point where Fei Long came over to meet with Asami alone, instead of just deciding to start a blood bath to rid himself of any pests crawling through his territory.
Imagine it having been the other way around: Fei Long setting up HQ in Tokyo and starting a little war in Asamiās territory. I guess Mr. Cool-Daddy would not have liked that very much!
And then Fei Long slips that phone with Akihitoās messages to Asami into the menās pocket, because he knows that Asami wants to read them but would never admit to it. He does not only play Cupid for both, we also learn later that he promised Akihito that he wouldĀ āhelp himā.Ā
āHelp himā how?Ā āHelp himā getting back together with Asami - by shipping them off into safety and taking care of the danger himself.
And he tackles said danger knowing which man would probably be able to help him and knowing that the price heād have to pay for that would not be one that he would like to be made public.
So he does not ask any of his Beishe-men to find out where Mikhail is, nor does he have himself being taken to that place by his usual drivers or bodyguards. Instead he relies on the one man he knows would never betray him: Yoh. Proof in itself that - in wise foresight - he wanted to keep the whole ordeal secret.
Therefore he is not surprised by Mikhailās offer of a deal, that he would fulfill his request if Fei Long spent the night with him, because he knows the man. Because he anticipated that it might come to something like this. He came into the hotel alone because of that. He allowed only Yoh to come anywhere near because he trusted him.
And not only Mikhail doesnāt believe Fei Long when he answers that heās not āgoing this farā for Asamiās sake but only for his own benefit. Mikhail knows heās lying, we know heās lying. And if Asami ever found out - knowing about Fei Longās past - heād better feel some humility and gratitude that Fei Long was willing to face the traumas of his young life to save and protect both Akihito and him.
But itās probably a long way until Asami ever stops the alpha-male-behaviour and finds himself man enough to admit to his own shortcomings.Ā
It was his own fault from the start. It was his fault Fei Long was caught up in the whole mess in the first place. And if he ever wanted to bitch, bicker and complain to anyone he should find himself a mirror.
And here I am hoping that it will be Akihito in the end who scolds him and talks some sense into him. Heās been the manās good conscience all along anyway.
