– INGRID AND ROME ARE VOLATILE TOGETHER FOR MANY REASONS. sure, it lead to a fierce intensity in the bedroom, but it also leads to an understanding outside of it. ingrid has never fought with another person the way she’s known to fight with rome, but she has also never really CARED for a person in the same way she cares about him. and naturally, he reads her just as well as she reads him. “i don’t know, i –” she sighs, “i actually feel sort of GUILTY. is that fucked up or what?” a short bark of laughter escapes ingrid’s lips. “i don’t know what i want.”
she glances across the bathroom from where he sits on the tub, pulling her knees up to her chest as if to protect herself from something, curling up to make herself small. “what’s got you so pissed off, anyway?” she glances at her phone. “i know you couldn’t have talked to your dad.” ingrid and rome say a lot of things to each other without speaking – tonight, it’s different. because they ARE speaking. it’s uncharted waters, but with cameras off and lights out, it’s just enough to show the cracks in her carefully built-up facade.
HIS LAUGH RINGS THROUGHOUT THE BATHROOM, accompanying hers. “guilty? who the hell are you?” but then again, he hasn’t quite been himself either — the wayward glances, waking with limbs entangled in one another and unwilling to move ... but there were parts of him that had stubbornly stuck as well. the inability to open up, the search for words he didn’t know in terms of his inner thoughts. he was still the same rome, the same person who ran to her lips and familiar sensations the minute that something felt different, felt too close.
“ ... i don’t know,” and it’s the most honest he’s been with himself in the past weeks. letting his gaze drop from her towards the tile, he leans onto his knees, closing his eyes and allowing himself to get lost in his thoughts. it was easier this way, easier not facing her, because then at least it felt like he was speaking to himself. “sev just asked me a stupid question. it was just a question. i could’ve answered. i could’ve just told her, but i ... ” he’s trailing off, unable to place a finger on the feeling that buds in his chest until he finally pins it down to another in the villa. “it feels like krysta all over again.” there’s another laugh that follows right after, like the one before except softer, one to just fill the tension with. “why the fuck are we like this?”
