The Underworld
A follow-up to my post about the transition through Death into the Afterlife. After a few days of being on Earth as a spirit, a psychopomp will arrive and bring us to the Underworld, where we will await Judgement. The Underworld is an extremely vast place, far bigger than the Earth, and cannot be fully known to any living person. The following account is documented from my experiences through astral travel and my teachings from Minos, one of the three Judges of the Underworld. If anyone is troubled by this account, it is not my intention, only that I would rather not stay silent about what I have witnessed so I can help others in their journey.
Arrival to the Underworld
When most people die, they do not realize that they are dead and cannot even accept the fact, even when it is right in front of them. Those who had sudden deaths especially have this issue and may believe they are within a dream. However, for those who realize the truth, this transition goes much more smoothly, since they will have less of a shock.
Upon arriving in the gloom of the Underworld, the spirit will need to wait in a long queue to be seen by the Judges (this typically takes a few days). Once the spirit is called upon, they will arrive before a council inside the Gaunt Palace. Minos, one of the three Judges, will be upon his throne here and listening to the council as they read cases for and against the spirit in question; debating on what sort of sentence they should have (this process lasts about 40 days). The judgments are meant to decide where the spirit should be sent within the Underworld, or if they deserve something different. Once the council has finished, Minos will make the final judgment on the fate of the spirit.
Judgement and the Levels of the Underworld
The judgment is based upon not only the purity of the spirit, but also if they harbour any attachments that need to be let go of, or if they still need to learn certain lessons that weren’t gained while alive. Unlike Hell, the Underworld is meant to bring Rebirth; Hell is meant solely to punish, and it lasts forever. If a spirit is deemed by the Judges to be exceptionally pure, they will go straight to Elysium, where they will merge with their higher self and go free to the spirit realms beyond. These pure souls embody qualities such as non-attachment, humility, courage, love, wisdom, nobility, generosity, patience, and self-sacrifice in times of dire need. They are the exceptional few who have no need of the Underworld’s trials. However, if a spirit is deemed to be evil, the Judges will call upon the goddess of doom, Ammit, and she will open her enormous jaws to devour them, transporting them to the realm of Hell. Upon arriving in Hell, one of the three High Kings (Lucifer, Satan, Leviathan) will decide on suitable torments for the corrupt spirit. Now, if the torments of the Underworld are nightmarish, the torments of Hell are infinitely worse, and even the passage of time flows painfully slow there (each second is like 100 years).
In most cases, however, the spirit will be sent to one of the kingdoms of the Underworld (depending on what the person’s beliefs are). So while some may go to the kingdom of Hades, some may go to Hel, Ereshkigal, Mictlantecuhtli, Osiris, etc. The ruler of that kingdom will then assign tasks and trials to the spirit, which they will face within a specific layer of the Underworld in order to undergo a harsh but necessary Rebirth before moving on to Elysium. However, if the spirit was a Monotheist, they will instead go to a bleak realm that is similar to the realm of Hades, but more severe. This is due to them needing to immediately face the reality of existence and that there are more gods than just one.
There are three main levels of the Underworld (seven in total), and the intensity of torment increases greatly the further down you go. Time also flows differently for each level, going by more slowly the deeper the level is. These trials are not meant to be sadistic, but are methods of cleansing and reshaping each spirit so that they can rise above their toxic behaviours, harmful obsessions, corporeal attachments, false beliefs, and the effects of their trauma. It must be harsh so the lessons can be learnt correctly and efficiently, especially since most people during life are unwilling to do these things and need to be forced into it. Each level cannot be described in great depth since the landscapes and trials depend on the spirit viewing it; they all form in accordance to what must be learned. The more the attachments a person had in life, and the more their intensity, the worse the suffering is in order to make them see the truth and be rid of the attachments. If we do not do that, we cannot transcend.
Most people get confused with this, because they believe that their ideologies are universal truth. In fact, the universe doesn’t care if you are too attached to your pets, your possessions, or a political idea. Extreme attachment is wrong, and once down in the Underworld, one will experience the truth of this statement themselves. Attachments account for the state of restlessness, fueled by emotive energy that is residue of the time one was alive. Like an echo of what once was. Most of the things cherished, such as fashions, ideologies, trends, politically correct views, etc will pale in insignificance under the harsh light of the new reality. We must be unmade before we can be reborn.
Level -1: This level is for the spirits who died without having very many attachments to the physical or to their own suffering. They don’t have as much to be taught, since they had learnt much on their own while still alive. They are generally good-natured and underwent healing and self-development during life, causing them to become more wise. Due to this, the torments are not very intense and spirits typically go free after about a year. In this level, typical trials include panic attacks and intense visions of regretful memories. If a spirit was often a victim of self-pity, they would need to undergo drowning within the Lake of Burning Tears in order to learn how to overcome their ways. The quicker the spirit learns to adapt and grow stronger than their guilts or fears, the sooner they will go free. Basically, one needs to realize the illusion of the suffering; if we refuse to fight against it or make peace, we only go deeper into its clutches. We are the ones who give our own suffering power; likewise, we can surpass it through great effort and understanding.
Level -2: This second deepest level is where spirits go if they didn’t get to heal quite as much as those in level -1. These people made an effort to heal or remove some negative traits, but hadn’t done too much with it before they died, and now must conclude it within the Underworld. The trials here are rather similar to level -1, but are more intense since the attachments of the spirits here are more intense. The experiences here will make the spirits feel as if they are on hallucinogens and may make them feel a bit insane. The landscape here basically looks like a bleak and barren landscape with craggy hills, ravines, and dry areas for miles. There are even places that burn one’s feet, causing blood streaks as they walk. People here who have mild vanity will experience sores and blisters on their body, forcing them to let go of the desire for “perfection” for themselves. Those who hate their bodies will experience having their “skin” torn off, forcing them to realize that not only are these bodies merely shells, but that hating them is pointless (this also happens in level -3 but to a worse degree).
Level -3: The third level down is for those with very deep toxic thought-patterns and behaviours, towards either others or themselves. This can include people who had been through trauma but never healed, narcissists, people with very strong physical attachments, and those such as hateful racists or zealots. In order to bring these spirits a rebirth, they must undergo severe trials in order for them all to learn the error of their ways and thinking; whether they were good people or not. Again, this is for reshaping one’s mind in the necessary way; not all here are being punished. Those who underwent trauma in life will be faced with an illusion of their abuser/s who will begin chasing them. The lesson is to learn not to run from them, but to stand against them; that is how this trial will be won. Through doing this, the traumatized spirit will find their own strength and will realize that their sufferings are in the past; there is no need to cling onto what had been done to them. Sometimes this challenge may go differently depending on the person involved.
Those who had intense vanity or self-hatred while alive will experience hostile entities who attempt to rip off their face or skin. But of course, this is an illusion (albeit a painful one), for their bodies are no more. But this is exactly what the trial is about and they need to come to the realization that the physical is temporary and overall unimportant in the grand scheme of things. Some people, such as the racists, will be chased after by giant monstrosities and torn apart if caught. There are all sorts of horrific things here, such as corridors of flesh and strange entities. If one wishes to break free, they must summon all their courage and will-power in order to strike down their egos and their internal sufferings. Though for many, this takes a great amount of time, sometimes years. This is the first level of the most horrible places in the Underworld and will easily cause the spirits who come here to go insane until they break, then are remade until they break again (this sometimes goes on for centuries).
Levels -4, -5, and -6: Not much will be said on these ones, as most people are not sent to them. It is for those spirits who were too cruel to be given a chance for rebirth, but not evil enough for Hell. The spirits here are violent in their hatred and suffer tremendously, usually remaining in the Underworld forever.
Level -7: This level is uninhabited by anyone, purposefully left empty. It is a barren desert where lion-hounds roam, tearing apart anything in their path. This level serves only as a border between Hell and the Underworld.
Completion of the trials: Once a spirit learns the lessons they are being taught and overcome their attachments and suffering, they will be set free to the land of Elysium (Field of Reeds)- a paradise realm where they will rest and dwell for about a year. Once a year has gone by, their higher self will arrive and absorb them, then they will depart back to their home in the spirit world. If another reincarnation is needed however, the higher self will wait at least one year before selecting a new body to project themselves into, starting the cycle again.
Conclusion: The most important lesson to understand while alive is that your life truly counts. Use the few decades that you have to spiritually Awaken, to achieve greater awareness, heal your traumas, analyze yourself through shadow work, overpower false beliefs and toxic behaviours, etc. It is much easier to do this while alive than while dead, so do whatever you can now and work on it every single day with great diligence. This is the purpose of life- to achieve Illumination, not to waste it away on simple pleasures. If this is done now, there will be much less trials to face in the Underworld and things will go more smoothly.
