Pairing: Gladiolus x reader

Rating: SFW (warning there is a bit of blood & lots of kissing)

Amber eyes stared back at you with hesitancy.

“Babe, are you sure you want this? Once I turn you, there’s no going back. This is permanent.”

You nodded determinedly before meeting Gladiolus’ gaze.

“Then it will match my love for you,” you said simply.

He took a deep breath before nodding and pulling you into his arms. He wound them tightly around you, before placing a gentle kiss against your forehead.

“Alright baby, lie back on the bed and get comfortable alright?”

You nodded and settled down onto the bed, making yourself comfortable as Gladiolus looked down at you. The bed dipped as he joined you on the bed, carefully hovering over you. His right hand reached up to cup your cheek, as he pulled you into a kiss. His lips moved slowly but passionately against your own. His hands caressed you gently, worshiping every inch of you as he finally pulled back so you could catch your breath.

“I love you,” he said as he began to slowly kiss his way down your neck.

He placed several loving nips and kisses along your neck before finally reaching your shoulder. He pulled back slightly to look once more into your eyes, his hands lingering at the hemline of your shirt.

“Last chance to change your mind,” he said, his eyes now holding an almost ethereal glow to them.

The edges of your lips tilted upwards as you reached up to cup his face.

“Gladiolus, I’m sure. I want this. I want you, always.” You replied.

He leaned back down for one more kiss before removing your shirt and pressing his plush lips against the base of your neck.

“Always,” he breathed before biting down into the tender flesh.

You gasped at the feeling of his canines biting down into you. One of his hands tenderly cupped your cheek, while the other traced a soothing pattern against your hip. You watched as he pulled his mouth from your neck, his tongue lapping the blood slowly dripping from the bite. He moved back up to your face, tongue darting out to catch the blood lingering on his lips. You gasped as the pain once more grabbed your attention, whimpering at the sensation.

It felt as though something hot was running through your veins, rapidly moving from the bite throughout your body. Gladiolus pushed your hair from your face, pressing reassuring kisses against your temple, as he moved to pull you against his body.

“Gladio, It hurts!” you gasped.

He cradled you against himself, soothing you as best he could.

“I’m so sorry; I promise the pain will pass. I’m right here okay. I’m here for you, always,” he said as he pulled you onto his chest.

You did your best to focus on the sound of his heartbeat, as he held you tightly. The steady beat of his heart seemed to do the trick, and you felt your eyes growing heavy. The last thing you saw was his warm eyes staring down at you, laden with love and concern.

You awoke several hours later, to the smell of food. Your eyes opened slowly as you took in the new dimensions to your sense of smell. The aroma seemed so much more complex than it ever had before, but you found yourself unable to focus on it, as you noticed how much clearer your vision seemed. You sat up slowly, taking in your surroundings. It was obviously the dead of night, but you could see perfectly, as your eyes scanned across the room. The sound of footsteps and a steady heartbeat pulled you from your momentary distraction. You looked towards the doorway, as your now heightened sense of smell picked up that warm familiar scent. Your eyes closed as you focused in on the scent of pine and earth, laced with leather and petrichor. It was a scent that always calmed you, the scent that accompanied the man you loved most.

“Hey there, glad you’re awake,” Gladio said, walking into the room.

You smiled as he sat down next to you on the bed, carefully setting the tray of fresh food down next to you. He chuckled as you found yourself subconsciously licking your lips.

“Don’t worry babe, turning takes a lot out of you. It’s pretty natural to feel hungry. I eat for a family of four every time I shift. I got you,” he said with a smile.

You tried not to seem desperate as you eagerly reached for the food, unable to hide your hunger. He wrapped a loving arm around you, as you dug into the food, pulling you against his side. He sat with you, patiently waiting for you to finish eating. Once you had eaten, he placed the tray to the side and wrapped both arms around you.

“I love you,” he muttered, nuzzling into your neck.

You leaned into his touch, smiling as you pulled him down into a kiss.

“Always,” you replied.

As you slowly pulled back, you felt your heart full of warmth at the thought that this beautiful man was yours. You relaxed into the warmth of his arms, relishing the eternal bond you now shared with the love of your life.

You wanted to cook a special dish, & upon realizing you were out of the necessary herbs you went out in search of some. You stumbled across his den in your search. ·         You steadily found yourself returning to his den for more herbs aka talking to the charming naga & overtime you started to grow quite the bond with him

·         He took quite a while to actually admit to his feelings and begin courting you, convinced that there was “no way things could work” between his kind and a human.

·         He finally admitted to his feelings when he found you injured one day. You had actually gone out in search of an herb he said reminded him of home, when you slipped and fell down a rocky gully. You unfortunately hit your head on the way down and were knocked unconscious. Gladiolus found you (& having recognized you as Ignis’ friend) took you back to Ignis.

·         When you awoke he was rambling about how “you should have taken better care of yourself” and how “it was foolish to go trekking into such wilderness alone” but in the midst of his grumbling you caught it, “Don’t go doing that again! I have very few that I care about, & I simply cannot deal with losing one”

·         He blushed when you first mentioned it, before finally sighing and explaining that he had figured out you were special to him when he couldn’t seem to get you out of his mind. He was certain that you were more than just something that caught his interest.

·         While this did help you both acknowledge your feelings, the realization that you were in fact his mate came a little later during mating season.

·         It started subtly, he found himself more desperate for your visits and more anguished by your absence. Then it was your scent. I’ve never really written wolf!anyone before either, but I might try to write something a little more simpler than this with wolf!gladio in mind if the inspiration strikes me- thank you for sending this request in though!
