A long time ago, before Virgo was a celestial spirit, she was a human by the name of Vesta on Earthland. Just like her mother, Vesta was a maid for a small kingdom’s royal family. The kingdom did not have much political power at all and struggled to stay on the map. So to prevent themselves from being annexed by one of the larger neighboring kingdoms, the king began to marry off his daughters to said kingdoms in exchange for political relations.
Young Vesta hated watching her mother assisting the eldest princess that was of age to be married for the ceremony. When her mother scurried off to attend to another chore, the princess disclosed to Vesta as a confidant that she did not want to marry and that she had not even met her betrothed. At that moment, Vesta felt powerless. It was her duty to serve the royal family, but the wishes of the princess and the king conflicted. What was Vesta supposed to do? One night, when a princess was married off and left to live with her betrothed was also the last night Vesta saw her mother. Her mother was assigned to move with that married princess and continue to serve her there.
Even if Vesta did not approve of the king’s policies and held a grudge against him for separating her from her mother, she still loyally served the royal family. For the next three years she assisted the second eldest princess with her morning routine, escorted her to her daily lessons, ran every errand, stood quietly behind every meal, helped her get ready for bed every night, and did the preparations for the next day. Day in and day out, Vesta did this without complaint and stuck with this schedule.
At least until the next wedding ceremony started approaching.
The young princess had the same worried look as her sister before her. Vesta could not stand that look and did not want a repeat of those ceremonies. So she devised a plan to help the princess escape. With some commoner’s clothes and an empty barrel, Vesta was able to sneak the princess past the guards at night with the cargo shipment and arranged for her to be picked up by a former royal servant. To cover up her involvement, Vesta frantically ran up and down the corridors, tore open doors “looking” for the princess in the morning. Of course, the king was so furious with Vesta for “losing” the princess that he stripped her of princess assistant status and gave her so many duties to the point she was worked ragged. If she complained, more duties were added to her already overbearing load.
That is how things went for a year, then the next princess was old enough to be married off. Security was tighter than last year, but Vesta was determined to help the next princess escape.

Unfortunately, the maid that was assigned to leave with the princess overheard the plan and seethed with anger. Moving with the princess to the larger kingdom was going to set that maid for life and Vesta was going to take that away from her. The maid told the king of Vesta’s plan and he stationed hidden guards right outside of the supposed rendezvous point. The princess was able to escape on the boat at the last second, but Vesta was not so lucky as she was apprehended by the guards.
Vesta’s deceit was revealed and was charged with treason. Getting caught was a risk she was willing to take if she was able to save the princesses’ lives from the forced marriages at young ages, so she accepted the punishment of her crime and walked to her execution with no resistance.
Then everything went dark. Vesta found herself before a grand king, but not the one that she had previously served or one from any kingdom that she knew of. The CSK offered her a second chance of life due to her loyalty. This first confused Vesta as she had committed treason against her kingdom and she wondered why he, a king, would want to recruit a maid the betrayed her previous crown? The CSK eased her confusion and cleared up that he meant her loyalty to the princesses when she was all they could rely on. He said that should Vesta accept her offer, she would have to promise to loyally serve and protect people like she did in the past. Vest accepted.
In the spirit world, Vesta was reborn as Virgo for her undying loyalty even at the cost of her own life. Virgo has vague memory of her human life, and her loyalty transferred over to her owners. However, she has an underlying feeling like she done something terrible and betrayed someone she served, but at the same time feels like she did the right thing. She keeps this inner conflict to herself and uses it as motivation to make the right choice when serving her current owner to never experience that feeling again.
Mini headcanon: Virgo is rather neutral towards Valentine’s Day. She just doesn’t really celebrate it as she has no significant other, but she’s also not bothered by that as she doesn’t seek a relationship in the first place. It’s just another day to her. She would lend an ear to a friend during the days leading to Valentine’s to help make their plans. Warning, recruiting Virgo’s help comes with the price of dealing with her perfectionism as she likes planning things like meals, gifts, and outfits. “You want blue candles for you and your date’s dinner? But they clash with the decor!” “Iron your outfit, it has wrinkles.” “Serve the lava cake while it’s still warm. Do not let it cool.”
Though she does like having an excuse to just make sweets around this time of year to give out as friendship candy. So you can say she more celebrates Palentine’s Day.

After thinking about some scenes in the manga and playing out some scenarios in my head, I’ve decided to make my Virgo canon divergent. Nothing major, just adjusting some non plot relevant scenes and building her around a mixture of the manga, anime, and personal headcanons.
The first thing that I’m changing is that my Virgo is not going to be chronically asking to receive punishment. If she does, it will only be directed towards her key holder and if she feels that she has not fulfilled her duties properly. She will not accept any “punishment” offers from other people (unless it’s to protect her key holder). This will be explained further in a separate post.
Anime
During the Tower of Heaven arc, it was Virgo that gave Lucy the new clothes. However, in the manga it was Cancer that gave her the clothes, so I am following the manga instead. Even if I did follow the anime, my Virgo would not have Lucy disrobe and dress in front of a group of people. Especially since she was so concerned about Lucy’s undergarments being exposed in an earlier arc.
The anime added a line during for Virgo the Grand Magic Games arc that Lucy was “more charming” when she was wrapped in a cloth and protesting for clothes. My Virgo would be sure to cover up Lucy, her key holder, when asked. Especially during a battle.
Basically the entire Eclipsed Celestial Spirit filler arc is being omitted from my RP canon. I’ll post a separate post with my work around since I did like the basic premise and some ideas of that arc.

Chapter 427: Virgo was not tied up when summoned Lucy summoned her. Also, she did not call for punishment in the middle of a stealth mission in an enemy’s base or get excited by the Gouman’s attacks towards Natsu.
I haven’t read 100 YQ so I will not be using any material from that.

Ok, I’m not a big fan of these kinds of posts, but lately, I’m becoming more and more disheartened so I need to know if you’re out there.

So please share this on your blog so that people know they can throw their muses at you who are not going to wind up in ships or with smut threads.
Stars should not be seen alone. That’s why there are so many. Two people should stand together and look at them. One person alone will surely miss the good ones.
