9. born in 2002, i would have to go with signs or secretary! signs i watched at a very young age and it has stuck with me as one of my first introductions to alien/space horror and also one of the first films i felt genuine fear watching but also fascination w/. even though it gave me nightmares i would still watch it. and secretary i watched a few months ago and i LOVE it wasn’t expecting to but it’s incredibly charming and well acted and a really interesting exploration of a particular dynamic that i want to see in more films
12. i like black comedy that is very satirical and dark, so i often look for thriller comedies and the like. a kubrick classic that i was introduced to in undergrad was “dr. strangelove”. in that vein, “parasite” “heathers” “after hours” and “triangle of sadness” also come to mind. not straight up comedies but absurd, surreal, and unsettling in a way that you can’t help but laugh at
