"The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), formerly the American Dietetic Association, is an organization which represents nearly 74,000 registered dietitians (RDs) and strives to improve the nutritional well-being of the public. To my surprise, Michele Simon with her industry watchdog consulting firm Eat Drink Politics, released a report “blowing the whistle” on the hypocritical nature of AND. The report found that AND has 38 food industry sponsors, and some of AND’s approved continuing education providers include Coca-Cola, Kraft Foods, Nestle, and PepsiCo. This means Coca-Cola’s “Beverage Institute for Health and Wellness” can host webinars for RDs to earn continuing education units in which they learn that sugar isn’t a problem for children."
They physically moved her bones. They moved her collar bone lower. I hope stuff like this makes girls realize how ridiculous the media is.

A letter to my body
Dear body
I’m sorry i hated you so much.
I never really had a reason to, since you’re here and you work pretty well.
Though we might’ve had some differences and got angry at eachother
you’re perfectly fine the way you are.
So thank you
I will treat your right.
Me: I feel so guilty after eating that
My nutritionist: Did you steal it?
Me: What? No…
My nutritionist: Did you kill someone so you could eat it?
Me: Um…no?
Me nutritionist: Then you have nothing to feel guilty about.
Wake up every morning and tell yourself that you’re a badass bitch from hell and that no one can fuck with you and then don’t let anybody fuck with you.
Kate Nash’s advice to college students (via morganmarguerite)
Women seem to self-deprecate their own bodies. We don't need anyone else to insult us; we've got our own insult comic living inside our heads. The question that needs to be addressed is this: Why do we do this to ourselves? Is it that we have such a low opinion of our own bodies? Is it a learned behavior from childhood? Or do we still feel the urgent need to be as impossibly airbrushed as the women we see in magazines?
Kristen Houghton, Why Do We Women Denigrate Our Own Bodies?, The Huffington Post
The rule is that if you are a woman in America, you want nothing quite so much as you want to be a little smaller. The rule is you are always trying to lose. It's no coincidence that this plague primarily strikes women (though I don't want to discount the growing number of men who struggle with disordered eating). As women, our bodies are not entirely our own, and we are not always able to avoid others' attempts to pass judgment on or make demands of or possess them. Having been made the emblems and objects of desire, we do our best to live up to the role, tithing gym trips and skipped dinners. Whole nations of women spend their hours not reading books or loving bands or making goddamn change but instead agonizing over the inches of a waist.
Kate Orazem, What Women Lose In The Fight To Be Thin, The Huffington Post
Every weight loss program, no matter how positively it’s packaged, whispers to you that you’re not right. You’re not good enough. You’re unacceptable and you need to be fixed. I officially reject that message. I reject it for myself, and I reject it on your behalf, too.
