"Well, yeah I'm going to need to come see you, because I live in one of the coldest places right now because of Touya. So you are not going to like it." he gave a soft chuckle. "I was wondering if you were doing alright though?"

She shook her head but there was a small smile on her lips. There was just no way she could understand her brother's preference for the cold, even with his choice of lover. "Yeah, I'm fine. You know how I like my alone time every now and again. I'm assuming you and Touya are doing well together?"

"Oh I never notice, mostly because I'm never around much either." he gave a soft chuckle. "I just wanted to invite you to the new place."

She chuckled. "I thought you just said you needed to visit me?" She tilted her head to the side, fingers drumming against the bark of the tree. "Not that there's much to visit. Now that it's warm enough I'm back to sleeping in the woods."

"What new place?"

"We need to see each other. No ifs ands or buts, and I clearly have to visit you because you hate the cold." he gave a soft chuckle.

“What’s going on Kujo?” Natsume asked softly, leaning lightly against a tree. “I’m sorry I’ve been away, I needed some time alone. There are too many people around here sometimes.”

When I was a child I thought my father was cruel to my mother. It was an arranged marriage, I knew that, so it felt like my mother was trapped, especially with the way he talked to her and raised his voice at her constantly.

But now that I’m older.. I remember all the quiet times between them. Nights with them sitting together by the fire, laughing amongst themselves. And I remember when the raiders came and how my father so desperately tried to protect my mother, and then my mother stood up and bravely followed her husband to the grave..

I’m fairly sure they were madly in love.. and it hurts to think about a little nowadays because they’ve been gone for so long.

She raised an eyebrow, smiling. “Still? I’ve already taken my stitches out and you know I heal slow. Surely I couldn’t have done that much damage.”

His smile only grew. “My pride doesn’t heal as well as the rest of me.”

"Well, we all know that." She shrugged. "I don't like fighting in close quarters, but once you're up for another defeat I'm more than willing to take you on."

I’m used to fighting in small spaces….but if you don’t think you can handle it…
