I have been having difficulties lately with Emmys personality really, and I can see you're all picking up on this. I can't seem to stick with what she truly wants.
An after reading everything, you all have very valid points that I'm starting to think about. I may have to go through and change the way I play her entirely.
I'm having trouble having her be assertive enough about this without letting everything fall apart. I have made her a lot more sensitive than I originally intended, and a lot more fragile.
It's hard to have a strong character who doesnt at least display some weaknesses, especially after what Emmy has gone through in tTP. I was pretty focused on the idea of her wanting a family, since she really hasn't had a proper one her whole life, and the fact that she can finally show a little weakness and femininty is good for her.
I imagine her a bit to be the type who is strong because she has to be, she never had anyone around to protect her, so she had to take things into her own hands and learn to protect herself and others. But that it has left her feeling tired and always wishing she didn't have to be that person
And of course here in the rp, she now has Descole, who has helped her time and again with her emotional instability after loosing Reverie and she in return has helped. I imagine their relationship to be one where they both help balance one anothers emotions and sanity very carefully.
But now that Descole is suddenly acting like his evil character is supposed to, she doesnt know really how to react. She had been in this delusion of sorts with him for nearly two years in their timeline starting from when Fabrice showed up, that he was going to be a changed man. He wasn't doing anything illegal anymore, and was trying to become a proper person so he could be a good father. Once the baby died, however, I think that a lot of things in him changed that she didn't see
She was too caught up in her own despair and distraught to see something in him dying and changing. But they were both still able to continue a manageable relationship, where they truly needed one another. I think a very vital scene we played out was when Descole was drinking in the house and Emmy began to panic thinking Cruella was there, and they both ended up breaking down and helping each other settle.
Wow I'm getting off track. A lot. Um... let me think again.
But really both as the character and as the writer, I think she just doesn't know how to deal with it. She thought he was going to be better, and never try anything like that, so when Shaora and Badger started telling her of what he was doing, she didn't want to admit it. And she's gotten a little too comfortable having him protect her.
And that maybe somewhere deep inside of her she just doesn't want to have any conflicts with him. She was just far too happy. But she does realize that what he is doing is terribly wrong.
But she can't bear to break apart what they have because she has grown far too complacent.
However, I do think that I need to make her be just a little stronger. No more crying alone in bed at night. But she probably wouldn't have the first clue where to begin trying to stop him. Hell, I know I don't ahaha.
Somehow I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach though that this relationship is slowly falling apart and that she won't be able to have the happy ending like she wanted, nor the family she dreamed of.
This was highly repetitive... uh... yeah so ILL JUST LEAVE THIS HERE AND WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU GUYS THINK. I don't even know if any of that made sense but OH WELL.
