IND / PRIV / SEL VALERIE BROWN && TONI TOPAZ FROM CW’S RIVERDALE as feat. on @fiierceminded

He’s relieved when she agrees to stop for the day, flashing her a soft smile as he nods. She’s right, this is supposed to be fun. He loves music, loves writing songs, but this is just frustrating him, making him hate the whole process. He knows that it’s hard work, but hard work doesn’t have to mean losing what he loves about music in the first place. He hopes it doesn’t mean that, because he’s not prepared to lose this, not when he’s finally got something that makes him feel whole, at home, in a way that working for his dad and football never have. “Let’s do something fun, then. Get our minds off the work.”
MUSIC WAS HER life, her ❛ ticket out ❜, as her mom liked to put it. the concept of it being FUN was almost entirely foreign to her. maybe it had been that way at first, but now it was a job ; something to EXCEL at, not enojy like archie did. ❝ yeah - - - ❞ she agreed, giddy at just the thought of abandoning their work in the name of something fun. ❝ lets, lets go somewhere ❞ she suggested, clasping her hands together in excitement. ❝ && not just pop’s. everyone goes to pop’s. orders the same thing. talks about the same stuff ❞

Her heart jumped into her throat at the sound of someone walking out the back door, sure she had been caught red-handed. Doing what, Betty wasn’t entirely sure, considering she had just arrived as she knew that the Serpents tended to meet there on Thursday nights. ❝Does that mean that you think I’m up to something?❞ If being nosy and concerned for her boyfriend meant she was up to something, then maybe the answer was yes. ❝I’m just waiting for Jug.❞
❝ OH, I KNOW you’re up to something ❞ he answered, giving her a hint of a smile, but still squinting his eyes as he looked her over. ❝ there’s NEVER been a cooper that’s not to something, ‘specially around here. . . i’d say you’re looking for trouble, but you ALREADY told me you were waiting for my son, so i know i’m right. he might be awhile though ❞ when he’d stepped out, jughead && sweet pea had been arguing about something ; both of them too hotheaded && eager to PROVE themselves to realise they were on the same side yet. ❝ why don’t i take you home? or at least away from here. you eaten yet? ❞

❝ GO AHEAD ❞ he said from behind the mug of far too bitter ale pressed to his lips. he desperately missed the sweeter wines of the south, but he would drink ANYTHING to warm his bones in this northern cold ❝ feel free to gloat, but keep in mind it WAS loyalty that brought me to this frozen wasteland. i may have SHIT for honour, but given the times, even shit can be valuable i suppose ❞ // @coerulus && sc

Truthfully, it looked a hell of a lot like his dad was breaking Jughead’s heart. Again. Maybe putting some faith in FP had been a mistake after all, maybe he’d been too hopeful, too naive. It was like he was a kid all over again. So, blowing out a breath, the teen shook his head and shoved his hands into his pockets. “Guess I just hoped this time it might be different.” It was time, again, for a quick decision, some kind of a solution, and for as much as Jug didn’t want to hurt his dad — he had to learn that it was okay to prioritize his own well being, too. “You know I can’t stay here with you if you’re gonna do this.”
❝ BOY - - - ❞ he started, but quickly swallowed the rest of his words. he could call him that ALL he wanted, but it didn’t make it true anymore ; jughead wasn’t the same scrawny kid he had been, more of an adult than the teenager he was supposed to be . . . && maybe that was more his FAULT than he wanted to admit. ❝ where are you going to go then? ❞ he asked, taking another long slow drink from the bottle, already resigned to the fact that he was LOSING his son again ; if he could do anything to stop it, he would . . . but putting down the bottle was a H E L L of a lot easier in theory rather than practise.

·····THE perfectly painted crimson lips pursed. Hopeless filled the bombshell at Toni’s reaction. Penelope wans Uncle Sea Sickness were up to something; it wasn’t going to be long before she felt their wrath. A storm was brewing in Thistlehouse, and Cheryl wasn’t sure she’d survive it. “ It can’t be worse than Thistlehouse. I swear they are out to get me Toni . They tried to kill Nana Rose , I know I’m next . ” The slender fingers grasped onto Toni’s forearm. “ I ‘ m always talking about my home life . . ma cherie.” For a moment Cheryl paused in thought, “ You never share yours … “ Slowly her hands slid down Toni’s arms, until they reached her hands. Which she held gently and pulled her close. “ Tell me what’s going on ? What is so terrible ? Maybe we can figure out a way to help each other. “
❝ I DON’T TALK about my home life because i don’t have one ❞ she answered, trying to keep the bitterness she felt out of her voice in case the redhead thought it was aimed at her. the closest she got to something RESEMBLING a home life was when she made dinner for her grandfather, his arthritis twisting his hands in ways that wouldn’t let him hold a fork let alone cook a meal. she might have stayed with him, but the government, never wanting to give the NATIVES the reparations they deserved, would rather consider her a CAREGIVER than a dependent && would slash his checks down to a fraction of what he needed just to live. ❝ nothing’s going on that i haven’t been dealing with for a long time ❞ she assured with a sigh. she didn’t want to burden cheryl, who already had a long list of her OWN problems, but it was obvious that N O T sharing would hurt her even more ❝ you wanna see where i live? we can go there ❞
goodnessfilled ║ A R C H I E :
The second she apologizes, he feels bad, because he knows that he’s taking his anger at himself out on her. “No, that–don’t apologize. I’m glad you’re here, helping. There’s no way I’d be able to do this at all if I was by myself.” He sighs, running a hand through his hair as he puts the pencil down again. “Yeah, that… if you don’t mind taking a break that would be great. My dyslexia’s been giving me a headache for like, an hour now. I’m not sure this page even has notes on it anymore, it might just be a bunch of scribbling.” Letting his brain rest for a bit should make it easier. He hopes it does, anyway, because he doesn’t want to end up disappointing her if he’s too dumb to figure this out.
SHE’S NEVER BEEN comfortable being as O P E N about her disability as archie is with his. she can’t remember hearing him mention it to anyone else, which makes her heart RACE at the thought that it might just be her he’s comfortable with . . . && maybe she can be the same with him. ❝ why don’t we call it a day, hm? we’ve done enough work, i think ❞ she offered, taking the pencil he’d put down to let him know she was SERIOUS. ❝ sometimes i forget that this is supposed to be fun ❞ she muttered, drumming the tip of the pencil against her thigh, her eyes downcast. music had always been the ONE thing she was good at && because of that her mom && granna had pushed her, had made it her JOB rather than a hobby.

SHE’S NERVOUS to the point of it being IRONICALLY HUMOROUS. her mother found && DESTROYED her fake id. did veronica really need a piece of plastic to ‘ prove ‘ her adulthood ? maybe not, especially with the ( BRIBES ) to the bouncers or bartenders , but it was always nice to have a small ‘ safety net ‘ with her fake. she’s at the WYRM, dressed in her ( MIU MIU ) attire with her INFAMOUS black pumps , standing out like a sore thumb. the raven haired princess clears her throat at the other.
“ so my mother found my FAKE id this morning and cut it in the blink of an eye. i know you’re a bartender and all so this may NOT be appropriate, but do you know someone who happens to make DECENT fakes ? “
@fiierceminded // toni topaz
SHE DIDN’T HAVE to look up to know who was asking the favour, her perfume && the sound of her heels enough for toni to work it out ; not too many people came into the wyrm smelling like CHANEL rather than cigarettes && motor oil. ❝ you’ll have to EXCUSE me if i seem a little starstruck ❞ she teased, setting down the glass she’d been cleaning && giving her all her focus
❝ we don’t get ROYALTY in here too often . . . but i think i could PROBABLY help you out with your problem, princess. it’s not CHEAP, but i’ve got a feeling that won’t be a problem for you ❞
STARTER CALL : JAIME LANNISTER CROSSOVER / AU FRIENDLY
I wish more people would understand / acknowledge / realize that the rpc is, in fact, a very competitive place. And ESPECIALLY for those that write female muses. Especially oc female muses, or lesbian muses, woc muses, trans women muses, and other minority women muses. Or canon female muses that are already over-represented in a fandom. — I wish more people realized how much work goes into not only getting yourself out there but also keeping yourself relevant and how hard it can be to have to CONVINCE people to write with you. How exhausting it is to have to constantly prove to new partners that you’re not just here for shipping reasons ( and even if you were, who the fuck cares. We all love shipping. Admit it. ) I wish people understood how much work and thought and concern you have to put into characterizations because some people won’t like your muse if she’s too sensitive or too soft or too feminine or not badass enough or if she makes mistakes or if she does something controversial. Writing a female muse in the rpc is fucking hard, and there isn’t enough appreciation for badass female muses. And that’s the tea.
HE DIDN’T HAVE to look up to know whose footsteps those were, the sound of her expensive boots against the cement floor unmistakable ❝ i don’t REMEMBER putting you on my visitor’s list ❞ he said from between the bars, daring to turn his head && catch a glimpse of her. he’d F A I L E D at being a father himself, that was no secret, but he’d failed the promise he’d made to hers too. ❝ you && jughead run out of money? well you can tell him he can make a hell of a lot more money SELLIN’ those drugs rather than usin’ them ❞ // @wolfqueennamedstark && sc
HE HATED HOW much she reminded him of alice, but was even worse was how his son seemed to be becoming HIM. people were always talking about how hindsight is 20 / 20 or whatever, but what was it when you were watching your kid repeat the SAME damn mistakes? ❝ you shouldn’t be hangin’ around here ❞ he muttered, stepping outside of the wyrm for some fresh air && finding the blonde sticking out like a sore thumb ❝ people are gonna think you’re up to something ❞ // @perfectioncursed && sc
