(Note from the author: Since yesterday was an Adelet short story, it only seemed fair to provide you with a Radeline short story today. This story is not short; actually, it’s one of the longest stories I’ve ever written and completed for this game or otherwise. It’s completely non-canon too, which makes it especially interesting. I also had a co-writer for this one! Adeline’s player and creator wrote all the parts with her perspective. You can find her on tumblr as @file13thetrashcan. She’s an amazing artist and has lots of Addie art; go follow her stuff.) “Now just take it easy,” the man crooned. His eyes were fixed on Adeline, gauging her for what she was: a threat. Even five months pregnant, Adeline could slaughter them, and they all knew it. All she needed was a weapon. They had her sword, passed to the third man on watch, but that was not the only blade in the house. Adeline preferred her sword and kept it close. Roland? His hands slowly inched towards the nightstand drawer, towards the small dagger Adeline had given him so long ago. He just needed to get the dagger. If he couldn’t get it to her, he could use it himself. He would use it himself to drive these bastards out of his home, to protect his wife. To protect his baby.

Birthday Dreams

Temperatures dropped Yedinsfest week. Even the kitchen fires of the keep were not enough to keep the cold of the evening out. Many of the nobility’s dress ignored the snow outside anyways. While Roland shivered in his vest and cotton shirt, women walked around with bare shoulders, arms, and impressive amounts of breast. He was more understanding of the women wearing fur, but many of them were wearing light, airy fabric. Tulle- he knew it from Adeline’s own dresses. It seemed itchy to him, but she loved the stuff. She wore it now, a whole pale blue dress of the stuff. Her skirt was big and puffy, and there were little white and blue fabric flowers all over the dress. The dress did have sleeves, but they hung off her shoulders, making it almost look like the dress was falling off of her.

Common Ground

Roland had a plan. He liked plans; when everything was laid out in front of you, you knew exactly what you were doing and when you were doing it. Between him and Adeline, Roland had always been the brains of the operation; she had dreams and he figured out how to get it done. Occasionally Adeline would take over the plot, but those never seemed to work as well. Or they would work too well and Roland would be the one to clean up afterwards.
