grayson: i didn't care whether you rebelled or not, i just wanted you to know that you deserved better. you deserved a mom and dad who gave a shit about you and not just what you were able to achieve. violet, you say that like it was my choice to be distant? yeah, goose and i got into drugs, but it's not like i single-handedly caused us to drift apart. you chose a side and it was pretty clear where i stood with you, i wasn't gonna stick around to fight my sister and my parents

grayson: yeah, it's nice to finally have people willing to support me. every part of me.

grayson: you're right with that one, benji is a good kid. hopefully he'll wise up and get the fuck away from this family before he crashes and burns too.

violet: i know that i chose a side. and in hindsight, i should have chosen differently. but i stand by the fact that this was a two way street and both of us could have done things differently. but ultimately i am still sorry that we ganged up on you when you needed us most.

violet: i do think that your friends should be supporting a genuine return to sobriety, though. i am glad that they love you for all of you, but i think they should be trying to help you get better in the process. :/

violet: i hope he does. i hope he applies to a great school out of the state and dips asap.

violet: whatever u gotta do. i'm glad you also have friends here who can help you if you need. i know you can take care of yourself, but a support system never hurts.

violet: yeah benji and i are fine too. but i think that may just be because benji is a great kid and has nothing to do with either of our abilities to be a good sibling.

her back is pressed against the headboard as she watches him make his way back from the kitchen . this wasn’t normal for her - more often than not , lilia would tell the person she was with to leave , always done without remorse . but every time she would invite max over , she found herself asking him to stay . no part of her could even explain why , but when he returns with the glasses & settles next to her , she’s forced to ignore the question yet again . ‘ are you just saying that to me because you expect to get something out of it , or ? ‘ barely gives him time to answer as she tilts her head down to take a sip from the glass . she hated this , could feel her cheeks getting warmer from the compliment & has no idea how to hide it . her body leans further into his as she moves her head to rest atop of his shoulder . there’s an evident exhale of relief when he speaks next , ‘ you’re serious ? ‘ she’s attempting to deadpan , yet the smile playing atop her features is a dead giveaway . part of her was thankful for starting a conversation , even if it’s over nothing , to mask the silence that had been filling the room . ‘ green is first … i think . are there right answers ? ‘

                    max laughed heartily at lilia’s question , knowing the girl to be all bark and no bite . at least that’s how it was in his eyes . “ expect to get something out of it ? there’s something better than this ? ” he retorted , grinning widely . he would never point it out , but he could just barely see the tint on her cheeks . anyone else probably wouldn’t have taken note of the color change , but his gaze being almost always fixated on her has caused him to pick up on minute details such as that . lilia resting her head on his shoulder caused max to relax back into the bed some more , eyes drifting shut momentarily in pure bliss . “ dead serious . ” his eyes peeked open to see her grin , his own lips turning up to match hers . “ okay , green in first place . noted , ” max started , pausing only momentarily to chuckle at her question . “ at this point in time , it’s just a matter of opinion . i’ll try to keep my opinions to myself until it’s time for my personal ranking . ”

max strolled back towards lilia’s bed from the kitchen , a lazy grin on his face as he approached her with two glasses of water for the both of them . he had tugged some sweatpants on to at least partially protect against the chill of the apartment , while still allowing for some cool breeze to make its way across the slightly sweaty planes of his back . handing one glass to lilia and setting the other on the nightstand , max flopped into bed beside the girl , instantly curling an arm around her shoulders to pull her against him . “ you are ... unreal to me . oh my god , ” max chuckled , pressing a quick kiss to lilia’s temple while he had her close . sometimes , the boy would take a moment to actually think about lilia and realize how fucking lucky he is . now was one of those times . but he didn’t want to say anything and make her feel weird . so instead of saying something sweet and actually thoughtful , max found himself blurting out the first question that popped into his mind . “ how would you rate the colors of the rainbow ? first to last ? in order by which is your favorite , obviously . ”

kai wasn’t fazed by the other’s reply, “yeah like if i’m right and i win against the blackmailer we should go on  a date,” he answers with a quick shrug, “i really don’t…” he looked around, “do you think i’m a joke too?” he asks with surprise in his tone, “we haven’t tried so there’s no harm, maybe i can text the number back.”

                    all violet could do was stare blankly at kai as he reiterated his plan for them to go on a date , completely surprised . however , the surprise being mirrored back to her in his tone caused her to rush and fix it as best she could . “ oh my god , no ! i don’t think you’re a joke at all . i just ... don’t know why you would want to go on a date with me . i just don’t understand , i guess , ” she replied , already feeling a blush burning the tips of her ears . “ next time we get a text , go ahead and try to text them back . and let me know what happens ! i am ... really actually curious . ”

“i’ve been at these show’s a lot, it’s like a second home for me at this point but i’m glad you think i’m a piece of home.” kai wears a warm smile, new york fashion week - both his enemy and yet an event where he was reminded he only ever has one foot through the door but he plays the part of belonging very well. kai looks down at his glass, he looked around nervously - he couldn’t risk being seen with an alcoholic drink so he settled with water but little did stella know that his veins were buzzy with something else, “oh please, i’ve stayed up till 6 am before for a 12 pm show before, i’m built different.” his shoulder knocks into theirs, mirroring their look with a playful one of his own,  “i’ve worked at maybe 40? i think, i’ve lost track. you?”

“ yeah , you seem comfortable here . it’s like it’s second nature for you . i still feel like a newbie , i guess . so , anything that seems familiar at all is ... more than welcome . ” stella wasn’t typically one to open up like this , preferring to keep an image of confidence at all times . but something about kai made them feel like opening up . “ oh ? what kind of shit were you getting into at 6 am ? do i even want to know ? ” laughter poured from her lips at his comment , loving the energy . however , a look of surprise surely tore across her face upon hearing the amount of times the male had been to fashion week . “ forty ? and you’re so young . you’re really booked and busy , aren’t you ? ” stella thought for a moment about their own experience , doing some mental math . “ if i’m counting correctly , i have attended twenty seven total and actually had my work shown in about sixteen . but i feel like pinching myself every time . it’s all so unreal , ” they gushed , eyes twinkling .

willow kicked her shoes off as she stepped through her front door, relieved to finally be home. she had been fully checked out during all her lectures today and felt a headache growing behind her brow. it was only the middle of the week, but she was ready for the weekend to start. she felt anxious for it. will scrolled through her phone to find stella’s name before pressing call, hoping her friend would be up to go downtown tonight. “hi, please tell me you’re free right now,” will blurted once she heard them pick up. “if you’re busy then… cancel? for me?”

                    stella had been home for a while , having finished classes earlier in the day . instead of actually working on homework , they had decided that tonight was a self care night . everyone needed one on at least one of the week days ! it was a necessity in stella’s eyes . but they couldn’t help the interest that was piqued after seeing willow’s name light up their phone right as they stepped out of a nearly hour long shower . swiftly winding their hair up into a towel , the phone was lifted to their ear as a little smirk decorated their face . “ i mean , other than my date with a full bottle of red wine and some french film , i am free , ” stella hummed , taking an in - depth look at their face in the mirror as they spoke . “ and wills , baby ... i am always free for you . what were you thinking ? ”

“should i start?” the question was innocent and serious as well, “like are people into that, be honest - do you think it’d help me pick up more dates?” kai’s fingers fumble with one another. “are you shading the love of my life right now? don’t know how to feel about this,” max wasn’t that bad, but even kai was fed up with how he’d steal away all his model friends - some simply had the confidence and ego to back them up, max was one of them. “oh i think it’s cute you think it could be meaningful but i just share the same traits of stupidity with prince gumball, have you ever watched adventure time?” he asks, cocking a brown in her direction. “i do like musicals, don’t get me wrong - singing is fun, but sometime’s they require a lot more work, i don’t know how you do it.”

“ no , no , no . god , don’t start . if anything , reminding everyone that you model every time you speak with them will probably get you even less dates than you are getting now , ” she replied , shaking her head . electra couldn’t even begin to understand the friendship between kai and max , preferring to keep her thoughts of the other boy to a minimum . “ hey , i didn’t say anyone’s name . that fact that you made an assumption actually says more about you than me , ” she pointed out , quirking a brow . electra laughed lightly at kai’s comment about adventure time , grinning widely . “ i have seen a few episodes here and there , but i’m not a super fan or anything . why ? do you recommend it ? ” a shrug was delivered in his direction when musicals were brought up , a brightness in the girl’s eye at the mention of them . musicals were some of her favorite to do because of the extra work . any time spent in the theater was ideal for her . “ i think i just enjoy the work . makes it easier to do when you love it , ” electra shrugged , giving him a warm smile .
