You said Black is among the most insecure colors... Why is that so, and what are the other insecure colors?
Blue is probably the most, but Black is a close second.
Blue’s drive for perfection means it’s constantly looking at itself as imperfect. It’s pretty clear how that can lead to insecurities and self-doubt.
Black’s desire to do things itself means it puts a lot of pressure on itself to get things done. When thing’s don’t go Black’s way, it often blames itself for the failure. Black internalizes its problems, which can take a toll on its confidence.
Flavorful Opposites
I’m completely spitballing here, but it’s neat to see the differences between the wedges and the two colors they lack from a flavor standpoint in addition to a color-pie one.
The Abzan are all about conservative defense and familial bonds, rooted in sturdy fortresses stretching back centuries.
The Izzet are free-wheeling iconoclasts who see no reason to hold onto tradition when there’s a whole new world of things to create.
The Jeskai are free, airy, mobile, and will pull off all sorts of absurd nonsense out of nowhere at instant speed.
The Golgari are slow, sludgy, earthbound, and prefer to endlessly recycle instead of freely create.
The Sultai are patient; they can destroy anything, recur anything, and they’ll lounge around comfortably while building up resources to win all at once.
The Boros have little to no recursion; they rush in and if they run out of steam, there’s no backup plan.
The Mardu are both terrifyingly passionate and rigidly authoritarian, with no patience for anything that isn’t fresh loot or a command from their khan.
The Simic are slow, patient, iterative, and will collaborate with each other out of respect.
The Temur are hardy and tough, but they also have a deep understanding of time and nature and strive to make themselves into the best-adapted people possible.
The Orzhov are strictly organized and dependent on thrulls and soldiers for protection; they’re very inward-facing and care nothing for anyone outside their ingroup.
Did I mess up or mischaracterize any, and does anyone else have some additions/expansions to this?
Mardu as rigidly authoritarian seems a little off imo
That was actually the one I was wondering about as well. We do see them follow Zurgo for potentially longer than is reasonable, but it still feels a tad off? I’m still not sure how to put words round what feels wrong, though.
I decided to create a masterpost that would help you with what you are struggling with. Hopefully any of the links below will help you! Reminder; You’re going to be okay. What you are going through will pass, just remember to breathe.

Dogs are the literal best and let me tell you why.
When my parents are out of town, my pup Remmy sleeps downstairs with me. I don’t mind because the basement is chilly sometimes and he’s a fuzzy little space heater. But he always does this weird thing and I didn’t figure out why until last night.
I’m a stomach-sleeper, while the rest of my family are back-sleepers. So Remmy has taken up this very different behavior with me (my family says he doesn’t do it with them). It always takes me a while to settle down, but when I do, Remmy takes his head off of his paws and rests it square in the center of my back.
So I’m thinking, “What’s the point of that? It can’t be comfortable. It cranes his neck in a funny way, and besides, every time I breathe his head goes up and down. That’s a weird thing.” So I formulate a hypothesis, and test it.
Last night, I got comfortable, Remmy put his head on my back, I waited a while, then I held my breath. It took him a while to react, but when he did, he fuckin lost it. He started whining and yipping, and repeatedly licking my face and hands. And I was like oh my god.
Conclusion: my dog noticed that I slept in a way that was different from the rest of my family, thought “that kid is gonna die” and made sure that I never stopped breathing in the middle of the night.
Dogs are fuckin smart as hell. What a wonderful animal.
Me as a parent
Son: Daddy, I can't sleep.
Me: Don't worry son, I'll sing you a lullaby.
Me: Hush little baby, don't say a word.
Me: And never mind that noise you heard.
Me: It's just the beasts under your bed.
Me: In your closet, and IN YOUR HEEEAAAAD!
Me: EEEEEEXIIIIIT LIGHT! EEEEEENNTEEEEEERRRR NIIIIGHT!...
How to help an artist:
Ditch the like button
No, seriously. If you don’t have money to help out an artist financially, the second best thing is to reblog all the things you like. While liking it does tell the artist that “hey I really like this!” It does jack shit because the only ones who will see that are me and you.
Why do you think there are so SO many posts made by people that are literally summed down to “please reblog my artwork I need the notes!”? Because no one reblogs artwork. Unless you’re a ridiculously popular blog with thousands of followers, you’ll only end up getting 1 or no reblogs.
SO HELP OUT ARTISTS AND PLEASE REBLOG OUR ART, BECAUSE WE REALLY NEED THE VIEWS ;V;)/
THIS IS ALSO VITAL FOR AUTHORS/WRITERS!! As my buddy devilishkurumi has said many many times, author visibility is unfortunately LEAGUES below visual artist visibility because fic takes MUCH more time and effort to consume. If you read a fic and you decide you really love it or even liked it a little, please reblog it! Visibility for all artists!!
Not trying to pressure anyone, but reblogs really do help guys <3 It is how we can spread all the love \o/
Can Dark Betrayal destroy Siege Rhino?
Yes. It’s a black, green, and white creature, which means it’s a black creature and hence a legal target for Dark Betrayal.
Hi So I recently started playing bloom titan. But I want to know something, does affect to the game having more than 1 amulet in play, and if it affect the game, how? Can I get 4 mana with a single land card that gives me 2 mana? Sorry for bad englis
I assume you’re talking about Amulet of Vigor. (I’m not super familiar with the Bloom Titan archetype as I don’t follow Modern all that closely, but here’s the archetype page where I found the Amulet.)
To answer your question, yes, multiple amulets do have an impact on the game. Amulet of Vigor’s ability is a triggered ability, which you can tell because it’s written in the form,
When/Whenever/At , .
Triggered abilities use the stack, and players get to respond before they resolve. Each time a land (or other permanent) enters the battlefield tapped under your control, all of your Amulets will trigger, and that many instances of the triggered ability will be put onto the stack. You then get the opportunity to respond before each one resolves, tapping the same lands for mana again and again before each trigger untaps them.
Here’s an example of how this plays out. Let’s say you have three Amulets of Vigor in play.
You play a land that enters the battlefield tapped, such as Jungle Shrine.
All three of your Amulets trigger, and three instances of their triggered ability go onto the stack. We’ll call these Trigger 1, Trigger 2 and Trigger 3. (The order doesn’t matter. All of the triggers do the same thing: untap Jungle Shrine.)
Trigger 1 resolves. Jungle Shrine becomes untapped.
In response to Trigger 2, you tap Jungle Shrine for one mana. You now have one mana in your mana pool.
Trigger 2 resolves. Jungle Shrine becomes untapped.
In response to Trigger 3, you tap Jungle Shrine for one mana. You now havetwo mana in your mana pool.
Trigger 3 resolves. Jungle Shrine becomes untapped.
After all the triggers resolve, you tap Jungle Shrine one more time. You now have three mana in your mana pool.
Hope this makes sense! For more info on triggered abilities and/or the stack in general, you should check out these tutorials:

As always, you can also find these and many other tutorials in our Table of Contents.
Now I know what they meant with the resolution in MEGA pixels…
Dragons of Renown: Malfegor
Before the Shards existed, the plane of Alara was undivided. Two mighty beings waged war against each other. An angel and a demon faced off in a final battle that ended with the former’s death and the latter’s banishment.
“When Asha left Bant, she ensured that the world would have protection and order in her absence.”
Sigil of the Empty Throne by Cyril Van Der Haegen
Some believed that the cataclysmic battle between the two caused the Sundering, an event that shattered Alara into five Shards, worlds deprived of particular colors of mana. The denizens of Bant, one of the shards, believed that the archangel Asha sacrificed herself in order to finish the demon Malfegor, but in reality he was just exiled to the shard of Grixis.
Abomination and Annihilator
“A demon cannot be trusted, and a dragon will not be ruled.”
Malfegor by Jason Chan
The being known as Malfegor is a fearsome one, a hybrid creature with both the characteristics of a demon and a dragon. He is a unique creature, a kind unseen in the other planes of the Multiverse.
Malfegor’s birth was described as “too horrible to contemplate”. He used to terrorize Alara before the Sundering. Contrary to what the Bantians believed, Asha did not slay Malfegor - it was the demon-dragon who slew the archangel. However, he was whisked away to Grixis as the Sundering broke out.
He was trapped in the shard, and he was enraged. Over time, he became one of the most powerful beings in the shard. It was he and his undead hordes that captured the fortresses of the remaining humans in the shard.
The demon-dragon was Nicol Bolas’s servant and general by the time of the Conflux. The elder dragon planeswalker ordered Malfegor to personally activate Bant’s obelisk, one of five in Alara that are connected to the maelstrom of mana Bolas sought. On the way to Bant, he devastated Esper, killing and torturing about, leaving with an army almost double its original size.
He reached Bant with his army and faced against the Bantian forces led by Knight-Captain Elspeth Tirel and Rafiq of the Many. Even though Malfegor overwhelmed the Bantian forces with a devastating death spell, Rafiq survived. Supported by Elspeth’s magic, Rafiq slashed at Malfegor’s body with the legendary Sword of Asha. Malfegor was killed, his body torn to pieces.
Malfegor by Karl Kopinski
Malfegor’s form is a strange sight. Above the waist, he had the body of a large demon, having four arms with long sharp claws and a pair of broad wings. His large horns pointed upwards. Below his waist was the four-legged body of a dragon. His tail is long and muscular.
A Storm of Power
The Maelstrom by James Paick
The five shards have converged and Alara has become whole once again. Chaos erupted, creatures were displaced, and war broke out among the five shards - a war stirred up by the elder dragon planeswalker Nicol Bolas.
In the point where all the shards meet lies the Maelstrom, a storm of mana created in the Conflux, the event that united the shards into a single reality. This storm is fueled by war through five obelisks, each shard having one each. It was one of these obelisks that Malfegor tried, and failed, to capture and activate during the Conflux.
Dangers
“The blood of the demons quickened as their master rose over the battlefield. The blood of the angels also quickened: here was the chance to finally end the war started millennia ago.”
Breath of Malfegor by Vance Kovacs
Malfegor is already dead and poses no current danger. However, when he was still alive, Malfegor was greatly feared. Many regarded him as the cruelest of the demon lords of the shard. He commanded massive armies of the undead, and with them he ravaged Grixis and Esper.
Malfegor wielded magic. His spells dealt with manipulating and repurposing life energy. He can suck out the life from creatures surrounding him and release it as a shockwave of death that kills everything within a single radius, or just keep it as a reserve for later use.
Malfegor was a cruel commander. He delighted in the suffering and misery he inflicted on others, be it his own forces or those that his forces conquered. He was a tempter and a tormentor who gave out promises of power and dealt harsh lashes to his underlings.
Now, the demon-dragon is no more, killed in battle by Rafiq of the Many. However, If Malfegor had succeeded in annihilating the Bantian forces, given that the plane had survived Bolas’s plans, he could have conquered Alara entirely, with a massive horde of undead minions obeying even his simplest whims.
Vantablack
British researchers have created the ‘new black’ of the science world - and it is being dubbed super black.
The material absorbs all but 0.035 per cent of light, a new world record, and is so dark the human eye struggles to discern its shape and dimension, giving the appearance of a black hole.
Named Vantablack, or super black, it also conducts heat seven and half times more effectively than copper, and is ten times stronger than steel.
It is created by Surrey NanoSystems using carbon nanotubes, which are 10,000 thinner than human hair and so miniscule that light cannot get in but can pass into the gaps in between.

This is kind of amazing.
Excited to show off my playmat done for StarCityGames.com! These exclusive, one-time-printed playmats are free for playing at our Khans of Tarkir Prerelease on September 20-21! We’ll be selling them the monday afterwards until they’re gone, but I’m expecting just the tiniest handful leftover, if any.
I had an absolute blast painting this and adding loads of little details and tiny knives everywhere. My favorite is forever the pilot whale with the shank in his fin. Which character is your favorite?
OH MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST THING YOU GUISE
And now for this.
I love everything about these.
When you decided you wanted to start going to cons with your art, what sort of goals did you set for yourself and what sort of steps did you take? And how was your first con experience as an artist?
That is a fantastic series of questions. I’ll try to be somewhat helpful in my reply. So, my first convention ever that I sold at was one I had attended a few times, and that was an anime con in Vancouver. My friend had actually suggested we get a table together and sell stuff as a team, but he ended up dropping out and I found a different partner to do it (Since I already had a ticket and all). At the time, I had very little to sell, so my goal at the time was to get as much as I could done so I would actually have something to represent myself and maybe make some money. This turned out to be good and bad. I don’t know if it was my experience level at the time or the fact I was crunching, but I don’t feel that my work was reflective of the best I could do. Anyways, in that regard, and what I would suggest for goals is this: Set a timeline for yourself. Say “I’m going to have 10 prints for X convention”, and every day try to work towards that. I like to start with planning everything I’m going to do, so I’ll have a good idea of what I need to do every day. I did seven prints in a month I think (maybe less), and now I take more time on them since I have more of an inventory. As for my first experience, it was pretty nerve wracking to me. I’m an anxious person at heart so it was a trying time putting my work out there to be judged as a product. That said, it was awesome! You feel very cool being like an insider to the convention. Like everyone is there to see you and everyone else who is working there, in a way. Also, if you go as an artist, make sure to talk to other artists because that was my favorite part. Meeting the other awesome artists and hitting it off made the whole thing worth it regardless of financial outcome, and networking really helps with finding potential opportunities in life.
Whew, maybe that was too long of an answer. I hope that helps! I’m always happy to answer questions in excessive detail.[One last tip actually: Know your audience. A lot of people who go to artist alleys look for fan art of stuff they know, and it’s a big audience. If you have the right stuff (or what’s popular), you can do well. It might seem a bit cynical, but your art is a business, so think about your market]
So I just got into mtg!! Its really fun and i really suck haha. I have no cards yet but I played with someone else. Cards cost a bit though, any advice? No one is willing to part with any cards haha
Good question! When I got into MTG again after not playing since I was in grade school, I started by picking up a Deckbuilders Toolbox. If you’re a casual player and you’re looking to get some basic cards to put together some decks, they are a pretty good way to go about it. You could also buy one of the Duel Decks, as they usually give you some pretty decent cards (though very little consistency in draws.)When I build decks I tend to build around a theme that interests me. Usually any theme you pick will have cheap costing cards you can build something out of. As long as your friends aren’t super competative monster deck builders (like mine are.) you’ll do just fine. I also tend to look at decks online and see whats good and whats not.The main thing you want to know about deck building is consistency of draw. So you want 4 of the cards you’re going to need every game. If your deck revolves around a certain card being played, you want more of them to ensure it comes up. There’s a lot more to deck-building than that, but it’s a good rule of thumb.
Hope that helps! :)
Nature is busy creating absolutely unique individuals, whereas culture has invented a single mold to which all must conform. It is grotesque.
