also all the sympathy from viewers for sarah over nikki is so weird like sure, she didn't deserve to die at all ... but imo she was an awful friend. like here's a girl you've known forever, who's told you that she's not into a man two days before she starts acting insane over him, is clearly having a mental breakdown (at the very least), and instead of checking in with her, or making sure she's okay, you try to shoot your shot with the guy she's with??? really??? not to mention her line to bear about 'how it wasn't fair for him to have to deal with her problems'. it pissed me off so much how ian and sarah were nikki's friends too and they never actually spoke to her once the wish kicked in and instead asked bear if she was doing okay or not. what sort of fucking friends are that??? every single one of her friends let her down. obviously what bear did to her was by far the worst but the others were awful to her too.

#If Bear is a rapist then Sarah and Ian are enablers #They do nothing to help Nikki they only further enabled Bear’s behavior whether they do so consciously or not

nikki begging bear to kill her and all he does is ask whats so bad about being with him. one of the most nauseating scenes ive ever witnessed

#I don’t think I’ve ever felt such rage watching a movie than watching that scene play out #Bear imprisoned Nikki in her own body and ripped the one chance of freedom out of her hands #He deserved so much worse

oh and another thing that devastates me about Obsession is how much nikki is judged and blamed by those around her. sarah and ian repeatedly telling bear that he shouldn’t have to deal with her, that she’s not his responsibility, that they’re worried she’s taking advantage of him. as if they aren’t also her friends, as if they shouldn’t know her well enough to notice something is off. there’s no concern for why nikki is behaving the way she is, there’s just distain towards it. she starts acting out of character and so it must all be intentional. but bear doesn’t get questioned. bear isn’t gossiped about. nikki loses all her agency and autonomy, and all she gets for it is judgment

#The fact Nikki’s friends treated the situation almost like this was normal really changes how you look at the “Freaky Nikki” nickname #They never stepped in when Nikki made up the lie about her dad along with suddenly being in love with Bear?#It seems like they never let go of the reputation Nikki had and that sucks #And it’s clearly not true because we see who Nikki really is early in the movie before the wish was made #Nikki my girl you deserve so much better
