Theory time!

So, the first time we see Dracula he finally rises from his deep sleep, only to discover he had missed 300 years.

In particular we get a shot of his right hand and we see that he's already wearing the Lycana ruby. Assuming he had worn it the moment he was put to sleep, this means that he had stolen it from the Upiri and had trapped them into his castle as bats before that.

This means that the Upiri had already stolen the ruby from Seymour and that he got stuck as a wolf around the time the clan wars took place. This means that he had already turned Ivy into a shadow before that.

Hence, both Ivy and Seymour are more than 300 years old.

But we know that the Heirs haven't seen the clan wars, and the way they speak about it is as if it's far history for them. Now this could mean that the Heirs are a decade or so years old or even a hundred years old each (I don't really know about this so I'm just speculating at this point).

But if that's so, Seymour should look much older than he does, unless being stuck as a wolf somehow slowed his aging process, and since Ivy is a shadow and we know that when shadows are hurt they revert back to how they looked the moment they were turned she could really be much older than she seems.

I don't know if this was obvious from the start or not but I was mindblown by this concept.

yea, can we talk about that? And the oversexualisation of children? And how they all started to fulfill stereotypical gender roles, just because they grew up? And the odd portrayal of love?

Two days ago (04.05.2021) , I was watching the murder series SOKO in German TV. I got really excited because Florian Bartholomäi, the actor who played Hindrik, was there! He was playing a person with a psychosis, who had a (panic?) attack over the course of the the episode. His acting was supreme!!! *chef's kiss

In Heirs of the night, his role is very loving and protective and this is the realm he stays in, for the most part. But now that I've seen how much he is able to portray I would have loved to see him step out of calm or alarmed. You can see a glimpse of the big drama he is capable of showing, when Raphaela dies-

[Season 1, episode 11: Human Red]

*spoilers, by the way*

We need to talk about this scene. It's a flashback, that happens, while Ivy tells Alisa about what happened to her and Seymour.

Quick summary of the situation:

Alisa caught Ivy cutting her hair. This is how she finds out, that Ivy is a shadow. (Shadows always change back to how they looked when they became a shadow vampire.)

Ivy tells Alisa her and Seymour's story. He was the only survivor of the Lycana Clan and very lonely. So he turned Ivy into his shadow, but he let her go, when he discovered that she remembered nothing of who she was as a human. While Seymour is out on hunt in the form of a wolf, his ruby is stolen. Ivy can't help but stay with him, until he has his ruby and vampire form back.

This is where we come to this moment. Ivy tells Seymour not to be scared. And goes on carving on a branch. It looks like a spear. Well. It could really be just for hunting. But it got me thinking.

It looks like a stake too. Wooden stakes kill vampires. Raphaela died from one. And that wasn't even properly sharpened. It was the leg of a chair.

It could be just as well that Ivy was preparing to attempt to possibly murder someone. Ivy is so determined. And she loves her friends. It would make sense, but it shocked me, to see something like that. And I am still unsure, wether she would actually do that.

I have not been active the last few days, but I had some thoughts about heirs of the night nonetheless because this series has become somewhat of a comfort series to me.

I am not sure where to begin though- they do not build up to each other, so I don't have to have a particular order--

It is the time again.

I turn on the light behind my curtain, which makes my room feel cozy. I search for my comfort classical music playlist. Snuggling deeper into the blanket on my bed I take my pencil.

Time to continue the sketching of Ivy and Inger.

Also, as a little side note, I love Ivy and Inger. As a sapphic, you can't imagine the joy I felt about them. But I don't want to be exclusionary, so what I post is just about anything aesthetic or meaningful my mind comes up with.

[Season 1, Episode 12: In the darkest of times]

Here's to why it actually makes sense (mostly), that Alisa is talking English most of the time. We have seen that the Dracas chat in Norwegian all the time, when no one else is involved. So why not her and Tammo?

At the start of the first episode (S1 E1), Alisa walks around in their house and learns vocabulary. And she does it from german to english, so english is her target language. When Tam knocks over the vase that was a gift for their grandmother from Sir Milton, Alisa asks him something along the lines of "Shouldn't you be learning English vocabulary?"

So here's the theory:

They are german, they speak it perfectly (the characters, not the actors), but they are trying to learn english collectively. That is why they sometimes slip in German things because they are not important to say in English {see "Rot, rot, rot"} They don't matter enough, that they would HAVE to be in English. And that explains also the accents of Dame Elina and Hindrik. They are trying their best and pull through with it.

And; then again, she is the main character. She needs to talk english, so the audience can understand her.

Okei, let's go do a post about heirs of the night because this fandom is precious but tiny, so we could use some conversation.

I love it so much, that the clans speak in their mothertongue sometimes, it gives so much more life to their identity, also DEEPLY appreciated, that the actors casted for the role actually have their characters heritage, examples;

•Hindrik - german actor (Florian Bartholomäi)

•Conte Claudio de Nosferas (and I think,actually all of the Nosferas Clan?) - italian (Francesco de Vito) , THICC italian accent [*chef's kiss]

•The Dracas and the Noaidi -beautifully norwegian

•both Ivy and Seymour of Lycana - Irish actors [or so I suppose because of their names] (Aisling Sharkey and Finnian Duff Lennon)

It makes sense that Alisa's actress Anastasia is british, because she is the main. HOWEVER, it was done so well (I will make another post to elaborate, how it makes sense that a german vampire girl speaks mostly english)
