“I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to feel like that.”

“It’s been so long, but there is a tiny part of me that can’t seem to let go of you, even after so much time has passed. I moved on, you moved on, the whole world moved on, but on some days I can’t get the thought of having done something wrong out of my head. Of having missed a vital step and now that our time together is over I know I can’t ever go back there to repair it. Maybe the only reason I still hurt is because I never got to show you what you meant to me. I never got to tell you. I didn’t have the time, or even worse: I never knew I didn’t have it. I thought we had forever. If I’d known, maybe I would have thrown caution to the wind and just opened up my mouth. It wouldn’t have taken much, you might think - but my throat used to dry up when I was nervous and I could never get across what I wanted to say, so I figured I’d rather stay quiet. And it was you. You know I couldn’t have told you I was serious about you. We weren’t like that. We hid ourselves behind layers and layers of armour and were still offended when the other person couldn’t read us. It was our rule number one: never let the other get too close. Never let them know what you think. We were idiots. We were young. We were right for each other until we were wrong. I wish I didn’t have to see you anymore. I wish I could look at you now without thinking about what I can never get back.”

Getting your heart broken is never the worst part, it’s the aftermath that kills you. It’s waking up and going to text them, only to realize you no longer can. It’s watching them love someone else and of course you want them to be happy, you just wish it was with you. It’s hearing them talk about someone else and having to smile and laugh all while you are choking back sobs. It’s not just missing the person, but missing having someone to talk about your day to, having someone to comfort you when the days are too hard. Because now these days are everyday and you are left crying on the bathroom floor with no one to turn to. Getting your heart broken is always hard, but the worst part is the day after.
"I wish I didn't love as hard as I do. I wish I didn't always have to feel the heartache for the both of us"
To all my former lovers // What I want to say {m.a}
I feel heartbroken and numb at the same time. Like there’s shards in my heart but I can’t feel them. More and more keep getting added and I just helplessly watch it happen.
I don’t think I’ll ever get over you. Deep down you always will be the person I wish I ended up with.

“When I say, I love you, it’s not because I want you or because I can’t have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I’ve seen your kindness and your strength. I’ve seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are.”
— Joss Whedon
“We often want it so badly that we ruin it before it begins. Overthinking. Fantasizing. Imagining. Expecting. Worrying. Doubting. Just let it naturally evolve”
— Unknown
“Just because something doesn’t last forever, doesn’t mean it wasn’t meaningful while it did last.”
— Candace Bushnell
“Please don’t expect me to always be good and kind and loving. There are times when I will be cold and thoughtless and hard to understand.”
— Sylvia Plath
