It's nice to write fanfic for Star Wars because no matter how illogical my writing gets sometimes, at least Palpatine didn't return somehow. The bar is truly on the floor.

Tech plucked the cigarette from Fox's lips only to take a drag of his own. Fox opened his mouth to complain but couldn't find it in him when he saw the constant furrow between Techs brows soften as the smoke curled in the cold air around them.
He looked up at Tech, the world tinted a soft orange that reminded him of Cody's colours.
Tech looked different without his goggles. Weird — though moreso in the sense he wasn't used to seeing the engineer without them.
His face looked less soft, more like a soldier; like a clone.
"How do I look?" the commander broke the silence, a smirk on his lips as he saw the annoyed look on his partner's face.
"I cannot understand your fascination with such a simple item," Tech replied. "However, to answer your question, weird."
Fox raised an eyebrow, silently willing him to elaborate.
"Not a sight I am used to," Tech continued, "It softens your features and it is... positively charming." The last part was barely more than a whisper and Tech turned to face the city as heat rose to his face.
He took another drag of the cigarette and Fox quietly mourned the lack of nicotine in his body. It was his last one and he was unable to get more for a while.
But he let the younger clone continue stewing in his thoughts Everyone of them needed to take the edge off sometimes and Tech rarely allowed himself to relax, so this was a pleasant sight.
"You can take them back, you know?" Fox said after a while, voice low.
"I will do so shortly. I— I have not felt the wind this way in a long time and it is delightful."
"Suit yourself," Fox muttered, leaning his head back and closing his eyes as he continued tracing the warm body under his hands.
Oh, how he wished Tech was stationed on Coruscant.
