           “Well, that’s certain one helluva way to start a conversation.”  Amusement, if anything, colored the words spoken as he turned his attention to the dark haired woman beside him at the bar.  He’d taken notice of her when she sat -- who wouldn’t -- but he’d been focused on the game playing out on the screen above the bar.  He had a pretty penny riding on the outcome.  Nothing that he’d missed if he lost it, but there was always fun in a bit of risk.  “Should I be ... flattered, or concerned?”  A flirtatious smirk then, as he shifted his weight to face her a bit more directly.  “Both, maybe?”

              The threat brought a laugh, short and sharp, from the necromancer, an amused grin creasing the lines of his face.  His hands spread apart, a shrug of broad shoulders as he cast the vampire an unimpressed glance.   “That wouldn’t end like you’d want it to, friend.”  A flash of teeth in his smile this time.    “But if you care to test your luck, you’re welcome to it.”  Angelus’ reputation preceded him, of course, that was why Teddy was here in the first place, but even as sadistically violent and bloodthirsty a demon as it was, that didn’t equate to age and power.  Not against someone like Thaddeus.    He might not be able to make the vampire dance to his whims, but chances were good that he’d be able to wrest enough control from the undead to keep him from doing any lasting harm.    “I’ve been around longer than you think, and as much as I’d prefer to have this go amicably, I’m not adverse to a tussle now and then.”

                “That’s might kind of you, darlin’.” Teddy drawled, glancing at the blood spotted handkerchief he’d blotted down his forehead and cheek with.   It wasn’t all that bad, all things considered. He’d definitely had worse, and had dealt out worse to the spirit responsible for knocking him about, but neither of those things made the scrapes and forming bruises sting any less at the moment.   “I’ll take a scotch on the rocks, double, while you’re at it if you don’t mind.”  A smile followed as he tucked the kerchief away, his hand coming back with two hundred dollar bills that were deftly folded and slid across the counter towards the barkeep.  “Johnny Walker Blue, if you’ve got it.”

             “Now, darlin’, what on earth gave you the idea that I’d want to put something as special as you in a cage?”   He’d seen plenty in his life, but this was something new.   Old, actually, but he wasn’t one for splitting hairs on the details.   It’d taken more than a few rabbits pulled out of his hat to determine who -- or at least what -- she was.  And sure, he might have called in a few more favors to gain the knowledge on how to keep her under control, if need be, but he hadn’t gotten this far in life and death without having a backup plan.  Or three.   “I’d prefer quite the opposite, in fact.”  The smile crinkled the edges of his eyes, creased the dimples in his cheeks a little deeper.   “I can think of nothing I’d like more, at this exact moment, than to give you the chance to wreak chaos in whatever manner you’d like best.”  

         “What is it, then, that your wicked little heart desires, little one?”
