[TW: Implied/possible death of parent, war]
For the longest time, Finnick O'Fae had found herself living to a certain creed; her loyalty to Soulf and to that of her brother. Her parents had disappeared when she was young and they (she and Caeden) had quickly moved into their Uncle Dace's household. The walls of his home were littered with war memorabilia, something that her uncle hoped she or her brother would aspire to one day. As she grew older, she and her brother grew more distant. Finnick longed for life outside of Soulf and her brother longed to grow their family's name into something more powerful than it unfortunately already was.
As she got older, Finnick and Caeden both joined into the empire's military force. Both were in different areas of expertise, Finnick a pilot and Caeden a strategist. No active duty had occured until one year ago when her squadron finally got called to deploy. It was just meant to be simple, get rid of individuals that that Caeden called a waste of Laykul. Their targets had been been identified as extremists with plots to harm her imperial majesty. Finnick had jumped at the chance; wanting nothing more than to prove herself not only to the people of Soulf but to her brother and her uncle. The thing about being an O'Fae was that Finnick had a slight perfection complex; if she was going to do something, she'd be damned if she didn't do it right. Which is why she'd found herself going to do recon the night before the strike would occur. That's when Finnick learned the unbearable truth that everything she'd been told had been a lie. These weren't insurgents, these were just civilians who were living humble lives.
There was no doubt in her mind that she needed to get out, going back to her brother to report what she'd learned. She didn't know what was worse, him smiling at the information or the way he told her to 'get some good rest and unleash hell' for the following morning. Right then and there, she decided to leave. Under the cloak of night, Finnick ran, taking the aircraft she was meant to cause harm with. Eventually she ran out of fuel and eventually she had nothing left to do than to join a crew off planet just to survive. No one knew her and it was easier. Everyone assumed she was some war-torn refugee and she never corrected them, instead sinking further into the shadows and eventually getting to a point where she could afford a better sformer than the one she'd taken off of some poor sad sack that she'd gambled with.
Now she has her sights set on a new home, The Prosperity, one that didn't have any known ties to her past. She didn't know anyone and they didn't know her. She could still be a pilot, keep her head low and stay out of everyone's way. Besides, the cockpit would be a better place than any to be left alone with her thoughts. For the most part Finn was happy with the prospect. For the most part.
Finn learned how to sword fight from her uncle and is well-versed in hand to hand combat. Well, claw to claw combat.
Finn loves to cook and bake in their spare time. It's one of the only good memories she has with her mother so its something she does when she feels down.
It may not seem like a skill but Finn has a habit of knowing obscure quotes and lyrics, blurting them out probably at the worst time. Okay, maybe that's not a skill. But its definitely a quirk, that's for sure.
