gabriicl:
he pulled away from the curb and drove off down the street, right hand gripping the top of the steering wheel and his left elbow resting casually on the window sill. the late-night city streets were nearly empty and gabriel found himself quite enjoying the stillness that surrounded them. it filled him with a sort of calm that only came with being awake at night. he sighed, “i guess we can make a pit stop at mcdonalds ?” he glanced over at finn, waiting for a reply.
As Gabriel drove, Finn glanced at him before finding the act of opening his eyes too much to handle, leaning back into the seat with his eyes closed, catching himself drifting off numerous times. “That sounds good,” he mumbled his reply, focusing on not throwing up in Gabriel’s car. “I would murder someone for chicken nuggets right now. Not you though obviously. You’re nice.”
gabriicl:
gabriel shook his head dismissively, “no— no, it’s fine. i’ll probably just text them later … i bet they’re even more drunk than me right now.” he replied, fingers twirling his straw around before he leaned a few inches closer. “no doubt about it. the real question is, how can you be absolutely sure i’m not the duplistic psychopath ?” he asked, unable to keep a smirk off his lips.
“Okay cool, I can text you the address when you give me your number later,” he answered casually, noticing the other man moving closer towards him, attempting to conceal his smirk by drinking more of his drink. “A duplistic psychopath doesn’t end up drinking water in a club, obviously.” Finn pointed out, downing the rest of his drink before leaving the cup at the bar. “Wanna go now? We might be a bit early but I don’t mind.”
gabriicl:
”don’t start saying stupid things you can’t back up.” gabriel told him as he straightened up, leaning a hand on the open car door. ”how about we just keep the window rolled down ? if it does happen.” a soft smile tugging at the corners of his mouth, before he closed the door and walked around to the driver’s side. once in his seat, gabriel turned the key in the ignition and looked over at finn, ”what’s the address ?”
“I’ll back them up right now if I have to,” he threatened, the thought of more alcohol almost making him vomit there and then. “I’ll try my best not to I promise,” the younger man told him, following Gabriel with his gaze as he walked around to the other side of the car. Rattling off his address quickly, Finn turned to Gabriel. “If you take me somewhere where I can get gross fast-food I’ll pay for both of us.”
gabriicl:
”yeah, i get that a lot.” he grinned, taking another sip from his water. ”finn, huh ? you too. i, uh—” he paused and threw a quick glance towards the dance floor, suddenly remembering his friends. honestly though, would they even notice if he left ? he doubted it. ”—yeah, sure. why not ?”, gabriel nodded, turning back to finn. ”i probably shouldn’t drink any more, though.” he added, letting out a breathy laugh.
“I wonder why,” he teased, turning around when Gabriel did. “If you have friends you wanna tell feel free to do that, but I promise I’m not a psycho killer. Although if I was I’m sure you could take me on,” Finn said, winking at him. “I shouldn’t drink more either.” He told Gabriel, taking a long sip from his straw followed by a grin.
gabriicl:
“mhm. sure you’re not just a lightweight ?”, gabriel half teased, raising a brow as he opened the door for him. “oh, good. i was worried it wouldn’t satisfy your high standards.” he replied sarcastically, helping finn into the passenger seat. he grabbed his seat belt and leaned over him as he clicked it into place. “don’t even think about throwing up in here.”
“Sure you’re not just a lightweight,” Finn mimicked, clambering into the seat. “I am the opposite of a lightweight. I could drink you under the table,” he challenged, rolling his eyes at Gabriel as he spoke about his high standards, grin still plastered on his face. Laughing lightly as the other put his seatbelt on for him, Finn leaned his head against Gabriel’s back as he was leaning over. “I won’t think about it, but if it does happen I’ll buy you a new car.” He said casually, half joking. “You’ll just have to drive extra steady for me.”
gabriicl:
gabriel didn’t have to look far until he spotted finn, far from sober as he stumbled towards him. “hey.” he raised an arm tentatively to wrap around finn’s back and held him there for a moment, the stale smell of alcohol mixed with a familiar cologne filling his nose. “don’t worry about it … how much have you had to drink ?” he asked as he pulled back, the tiniest trace of concern in his voice as he grabbed onto finn’s arm to steady his slight sway.
Finn closed his eyes as they embraced, balling the material of Gabriel’s shirt in his fist before he pulled away. Shrugging slowly, he leaned into Gabriel. “Quite I bit I think. It’s champagne that does it, goes straight to my head. Don’t worry though I’ll be fine,” he grinned as he moved his way around the car to get to the passengers seat. “I like your car. It’s not as bad as what I imagined it’d be.”
gabriicl:
gabriel nodded, unable to hold back a small chuckle as the bartender set down the younger’s drink in front of them, served with a regular, black cocktail straw. “here.” he grabbed his own straw and dropped it in the glass. “purely hypothetical, of course. no i totally get it.” he drawled, wetting his lips with a wide smirk. “i’m gabriel, by the way. what’s your name ?”
Smiling graciously as the straw was dropped into his cup, Finn put his plain black straw in Gabriel’s drink. “There, now we’re even. Plus I think black seems to be more your style,” he told him, taking a large sip through the straw. “Finn. Nice to meet you Gabriel. Considering you’re at the drinking water part of the night, do you wanna hit up my friend’s afterparty when you’re done? I’m starting to get grossed out by sweat now.”
gabriicl:
”yeah, just don’t get used to it. i’ll text you when i’m outside, okay ? and don’t go anywhere … i’ll see you in a bit.” sighing, he ended the call and grabbed his keys off his desk before heading out. the drive was a lot quicker than he’d anticipated and soon enough, he was pulling up outside of the club and texting finn to let him know he had arrived. he stepped out of the car and scanned the crowd of people near the entrance, hoping to spot a familiar face.
“My feet are firmly planted on this spot,” Finn cheerfully told him, leaning against the wall of the club, slowly sinking down it until he was sat down, waiting for the message. After what seemed like no time at all, he found himself standing up and looking for Gabriel, spotting him easily. A wave of relief washed over him, half expecting the man to decide against picking him up, as he walked briskly towards him, half stumbling as he lunged towards the older man with his arms outstretched, hugging him tightly. “Thank you so much and I’m sorry I woke you up but I’ll make it up to you I promise you’re really kind.”
gabriicl:
gabriel watched him make his way to the bar, keeping the male in his peripheral vision as he took another sip from his water. the corners of his lips rose slightly at the comment that soon followed. “well if that’s the case, i’m willing to give you mine.” he replied, turning to the other with a slight tilt of his head. up close, the guy looked younger. he couldn’t have been much older than eighteen, gabriel thought. he looked vaguely familiar too, though he was pretty sure he’d never laid eyes on him before. “so how much did your fake ID cost you ?” gabriel asked, lips curved in a grin.
“You’d give up your straw for me? You’re too nice,” Finn joked, leaning against the bar and moving slightly closer to the man. There was something in the back of his mind telling him that this was a bad idea, but he found himself being able to easily silence that voice. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he said with a wide grin. “I got my ID super legally. Although hypothetically, if I were to get a fake ID, it would probably cost a lot of money because of how flawless it is.”
the thing about gabriel and 2 for 1 happy hour deals was that he didn’t know when to stop, which was why he currently stood leaning against the bar, sipping a bottle of water through a brightly colored umbrella straw as per instructions of his friends. they’d all coasted back onto the crowded dance floor, leaving the dark haired man alone to sober up a bit. he was still feeling pretty plastered though, and as gabriel glanced idly around the club, he suddenly became intrigued by a younger guy returning his glance.
Walking out of the thick crowd of people, Finn ran a hand through his hair to try and make it look slightly presentable, searching for any of his friends at the bar. Scanning it quickly, Finn’s eyes rested on a tall dark haired man sipping from a very uncharacteristic straw, drawing a grin from the younger man as he walked next to him, ordering a drink and turning to him. “If they don’t give me a straw equally as colourful I’m not going to be happy.”
gabriicl:
hang up. just hang up. gabriel held the phone a few inches away from his ear, thumb hovering over the ’end call’ button for several moments, not sure if he should or shouldn’t. the pleading tone in finn’s voice eventually filled him with enough guilt to finally let out a resigned sigh. “ … don’t move, just send me your location.” he climbed out of bed quickly before he could change his mind, leaving the phone on speaker as he got dressed.
The silence was filled with Finn’s breathing, not knowing what he’d do if the other just left him. Luckily, he didn’t have to come up with a contingency plan just yet. “Thank you thank you thank you,” he told Gabriel, a smile creeping on his face as he typed in his location while they were still talking. “I’ll owe you a favour. You’re basically my knight in shining armour now.”

“Where’s the autonomy, Finn? Maybe general Shang is what I want, but Zeus is what I need.” he teased, shrugging his shoulders at him. “Anyway, I don’t mind having a Greek god as my sugar daddy, you won’t hear any complaints here. And I am definitely down for a threesome; Zeus seems like he’s into some kinky shit, King, I’m telling you ––” Alex scoffed at him, leaning his elbows against the surface of the bar. “a little extra? I don’t know, I thought that was the most accurate one of all for myself.”
“If these quizzes were real life, you can catch me with a Shang whilst you’re stuck with a Zeus because of autonomy. Pft,” Finn said with a wide smile. “And here I was thinking I was your only sugar daddy. Zeus basically fucked everyone ever in Greece, so it’s safe to say he’s not vanilla,” he agreed with Alex, shuffling his stool closer to the bar, leaning close to the bartender. “For you it’s spot on. Minus the godlike. You’re just a big ol’ diva. Whereas I am made of nothing but humbleness.”

“ –– Alright, sure, fine. I took the quiz and it gave me disappointing results, I don’t want fuckin’ Zeus to be my DILF.” he exclaimed, a small frown forming on his lips. He glanced up at Finn, raising a brow at the boy as he watched him unlock his phone. “If you get Shang from Mulan, I’ll be so pissed off at you, King.”
“I mean you can always retake the quiz to get the answer you want and just tell people you got that one, it’s what I do all the time,” He said with a grin, looking down at his phone to take the quiz quickly, tapping his screen quickly in front of Alex. “Well damn. I got Zeus too. Do you think a God of the Sky threesome is on the cards?” Finn asked, sipping his drink casually afterwards. “You’re powerful, headstrong, and have always known what you’ve wanted in life. You’re a go-getter and are always in control. You need someone that’s an actual god who can compete with your diva level godlike status,” The younger read from the quiz, shrugging lightly. “I’d say mine is accurate. Although the sentence diva level godlike status is a little extra.”
“does anyone else wonder why buzzfeed’s quizzes are completely bizarre all the time and borderline fucked up, or is it just me?” during a slow, afternoon shift like this one, alex was desperate to start a conversation. anyone will do. “i mean, i just came across a quiz titled “who’s your disney daddy?” …— now, I’m not saying i took the quiz or anything, but if i had to take a wild guess, i’m pretty sure zeus would be my DILF soul mate. hypothetically.”
“Borderline? They’re completely fucked up and I’m addicted to taking them,” Finn responded, looking up from his phone. He was sat in his usual seat when Alex was working, leaning his head on his hand as the other spoke. “We’re all friends here, you can just tell me that you were actually looking for your Disney DILF and found the quiz accidentally. I should take that one now actually.” He joked, although he was quickly unlocking his phone to search for the quiz.
