âTHE GOOD AND THE BAD: HOW SOCIAL MEDIA AFFECTED ME AS A GEN Z INDIVIDUALâ
Social media has become a part and daily routine of my life as a generation Z individual. It provided us with many benefits, both positive and negative. Social media made it easier for us to reach out to more people, family, and friends. We easily gained access to news and information about the world and the current happenings surrounding us. The good impact of social media to me is that I can easily reach out to my friend who's out of the country by using social media accounts like Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, etc. I can easily communicate with my friends who's province, city away from me and talk about life. I can stick and restore my documents and images in the social media and share the events of my life but not to personal just a brief information about my day and life same goes with my loved one's. However at that point we actually need to feel like their connections and fellowships are genuine, something not generally the situation via online media where it is not difficult to alter a photograph, go about as though everything is extraordinary, and put on an act for adherents. Generation Z has been attracted to social media in a way that has made them addicted to it and also sleep deprived. Lack of communication with other human beings however, is another negative effect of social media in accordance with Generation Z. We learned and were able to be exposed to different cultures and beliefs from different countries. However, at the same time, it has also had bad effects on me as a gen Z individual such as being prone to damage in self-esteem, depression and cyberbullying. Other effects included are having diminished attention span and social skills diminishing in comparison to reading and writing skills.Â
Social Media affects Generation Z in a positive way by how it is used educating young children and giving the teens the potential to improve their many practical skills. A few of us also are too pre involved by the online media that they will more often than not fail to remember reality and everyone's eyes are consistently on the screen. Now and then facts are being corrupted by the false news blamed for the spreading in the online media. I believe that most of us have observed that these effects are mostly present on every generation Z individual that always engages and is active in social media apps. Control and discipline are what we desperately need right now. Many might think that it is just a small matter but we need to recognize that this is a problem that affects many teenagers right now. Social media has been a big part of peopleâs lives since the mid 2000s and it is affecting Generation Z both negatively and positively.
