Time passes by and the type of media we have evolves with it, affecting our culture in all possible means. ‘Tis a good thing or a bad thing?
These two have co-existed with each other on my opinion. As our culture bloomed throughout the years media also bloomed with it. Continuously affecting each other. But is the effect of media to our culture and society as good as the effect of culture to media?
As we all know media is fast growing and its effects to our society is relentless as well. Sometimes people are forgetting our known traditions, customs, and beliefs and letting all the information we see and get form media influence us deeply. To the point that we believe in such things or sometimes change ourselves in terms of how we look and act. Because of these changes we do to ourselves we are becoming untrue and we are now covering up our true color, nature, and selves... we are covering up our culture. But amidst of these lapses, there is a good side to all of these.
Media has become our pathway in letting the world know what we feel, know, and believe in. We promote our tourist attractions found in our area through the media.
Being a student, that doesn’t hinder me in doing big things to promote and celebrate my culture and my society here in the Philippines. I can put out campaigns, advocacies, and different movements on how our culture and society is and that we shouldn’t let it fade and be forgotten over the course of time. Through media, I can also learn even more about my culture and society, stuff and information that my mind hasn’t encountered yet and of course once I found out certain information about these I am going to share it to all parts of the globe through MEDIA.
Media and culture has a big play in our daily life. It helps us grow as a unified society towards that goal in becoming a GLOBAL VILLAGE.
