It's sad to see how fans claim Malec to be best and then lose against a pairing that's not even canon!
Also, spoilers everywhere. Time to sign off tumblr until the season 3 premiers.
I scrolled through tumblr and people were hating on other ships, CC and even the BTS footages.... couldn’t the fandom have voted for Malec instead? We were in lead all weekend.... I went to bed and woke up to having lost to Alex and Sam from Supergirl...

A couple of songs had all spoken to me these past weeks, but this one (check the link at the end of post). Is kind of what hits me right now.
It’s scary how I am Magnus, how Magnus is me. I never knew there was a character like me until he appeared in my life. I never realized how much Camille’s words could cut through my heart, just how she cut through him. The brave face he put on as she said them. Yes, their love might be ancient history, but it never stops to hurt when someone you used to love jabs at your vulnerabilities, deliberately.
“The fear of loneliness has always been your akilles heel”
“You don’t do well, do you? Losing the one’s you love”
It’s painful to watch how hard Magnus and Alec fight for their love; knowing your own love story could’ve have been just like this, but it didn’t because you never got the one good reason to stay.
“I don’t give up on someone because they’re the hard choice.”
It is time I turned the pages in my own love life. Just like what Magnus did when he finally let go of Camille; because ultimately, right now. I haven’t found my Alec yet. I will let go of my Camille, I will get on with my life. I will wish and hope that I someday will find (not a love like theirs; because every love story is different and cannot be compared), but my own Alec Lightwood and from then on paint my own happy forever after ending.

My fanfic BGM list (on Spotify) should just be re-named MALEC BGM.
Currently consisting of 66 songs, only 1/3 still remain Destiel exclusive and that’s only because I heard them years prior... Every other song has become interchangeable with Malec / other ships and Malec would just hijack the song in the end.

Why Alec and Magnus are two broken souls saving each other
Buckle up, this one is long, and if you want to read an analysis nobody asked for, continue below the line xD
Alec may be Nephilim, but he was on the way down a dangerous path when he met Magnus. He appeared cold and closed off and can you really blame him? So many in the malec fandom hate the Jace / Alec relationship story arc, and hate me as much as you want, because I actually like it. You know why? It FORCED Alec to confront his emotions when Magnus came crashing into his life. He was confused, scared, beaten down for so many years. Broken to the point that he was trying to hide away his emotions with everything he had because he believed emotions were some sort of evil; created to break him.
Imagine the war that had to be running inside him, all the emotions that must have haunted him. For me, it is what made Alec real and human. Without the Jace storyline he might appear as just a giant asshole and while some fans would surely enjoy it, I personally think that the confusion gave Alec’s character a whole new dimension.
Before Magnus, Alec never realized that passion for people’s lives is also a emotion, it is what made Clary stand up against the Clave, it is what made her mother stand up against her own husband when he went mad. He didn’t realize that these kind of emotions doesn’t cloud your judgement, but it rather gives you new strength in the fight against evil. Because now you had reason to fight, you want to protect those you love.
On the other hand, Magnus had never felt worthy until he met Alec. Always hidden behind layers of glitter and glamour; or being ridiculed and discrimnated. Always being told what foolish thing love is, being played by the one he did love, being abandoned by her. And his mother.
And yet, Magnus still had hope. Maybe not hope, but he still desired to be loved. He is still an open book, to those who cared to read. Or maybe it’s me filling in the rest here, because I’m Magnus. Magnus is me. There are sides of me I’d never show others except the one I love, because for some weird reason, we trust them not to hurt us.
Which is ridiculously irrational, I know. Who actually do hurt you and me the most? It is the ones we love, Magnus and Alec has showed us this countless times already.
Somehow Magnus, by being exactly who he is, showed Alec that emotions are what binds us to our humanity, it makes us accountable for the choices we make. Magnus inspired Alec to trust his own gut feeling, his talent everyone else thought wasn’t good enough, that small part of Alec which stands up against the Clave when necessary while still being a Institute leader with integrity.
Magnus made himself vulnerable when he fell in love with Alec. For Magnus; Alec was it. He loved Alec wishing for Alec to love him back, but he never expected it to happen. Every time, he was prepared for Alec to turn his back on him. He keeps waiting for Alec to choose him; and every time Alec does, Magnus loves him a little more.
In my opinion, Magnus undoubtedly stopped Alec from going down that dangerous path and in turn Alec showed Magnus he was worthy love, no matter what Magnus thought of himself.
