About: Dylan Altomare
PERSONAL:
Full Name: Dylan Gregory Altomare Nickname: None Do they like their nickname?: He’d hate any nickname, to be fair. Birthday: February 16, 1998 Birthplace: Milwaukee, WI Hometown: Milwaukee, WI Species: Elemental Ethnicity: He doesn’t actually know, he just refers to himself as a “mutt”. Religion: None. He and his brother were baptized as babies, due to pressure from his mom’s parents, and because his mom was a horror movie fanatic and didn’t want to risk her kids getting possessed, as has been explained to him. Pets: None, but he really wants a dog. Major: World History Minor: Education Current Occupation: Fighter at the Conclave, Bartender at the Trench Sexuality: Pansexual Relationship Status: Single Do they drive? What kind of car do they own?: Dylan and his brother saved up for a car they bought together, a maroon Jeep, but he surrendered his portion of ownership when he went to the Institute.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:
Height: 6′4 Body Type: Lean, still muscular Hair Color: Sandy brown Hair Type: Wavy Hair Style: Never gets longer than his jaw. Eye Color: They are 3/4 blue - he has sectoral heterochromia in his right eye, making half of it brown. Glasses/Contacts?: No, but he definitely needs them. He doesn’t have the best eyesight. Prominent Features: Very square features Scars: Dylan has a myriad of scars on his back, from belts when he was a teenager. A few on his shoulders as well. Tattoos: He has the initials “LC” under his left collarbone (Liam, his twin, has “DG” in the same spot), XI.II.MMXVI on his left wrist, a falling Icarus and angel on his right forearm, and a wilting rose on his right tricep. Piercings: None Health Problems or Conditions: None that he’s aware of Style: Very casual, typically choosing to go shirtless or just a jacket, or a tank top - he runs pretty warm, so the less the better - along with cut off jeans or basketball shorts. He never wears open-toed shoes. Notable Jewelry: None really. Grooming: He showers every day, shaves once or twice a week. That’s enough.
PAST:
Mother’s Name: Genevieve Mother’s Maiden Name: Altomare Status: Alive Relationship: Not the best - he really wants a relationship with her and tries a bit harder than his brother was, but she has a lot of her own problems that makes that sort of connection difficult. She’s not someone that should have ever been a mother. Father’s Name: Unknown Status: Unknown Relationship: As far as Dylan is aware, he has no father. Siblings: Liam is his twin. Dylan is four minutes older. They are mirror twins - the only way to tell them apart is that they present themselves very differently - Dylan’s rough around the edges where Liam is a bit of a hippie. What was their childhood like?: Dylan and Liam were best friends, thick as thieves. They did everything together as kids, playing at the park, the stairwells of the apartment they lived in, basically everywhere. It was tough at home, with TV dinners and cheap takeout - they had a lot of pizza and fast food when they were kids - because their mom didn’t make a lot of money and had a slight alcohol/drug problem she tried to hide. Rotating boyfriends that didn’t care so much for kids, and while Liam was polite, Dylan was always a bit difficult with them. Three times they were taken away into foster care, but never separated. It was never bad, just confusing and left them with some feelings of abandonment. Earliest Memory: Halloween, when he was 3 years old - Liam and Dylan were ketchup and mustard and Liam nearly choked on a peanut M&M. Happiest Memory: Getting reunited with his twin after being missing for seven years. Saddest Memory: Celebrating his twelfth birthday. Education: He didn’t go to middle or high school, not really - he did one year of middle school, then he went missing. But he did get his GED, it just took him a few months of studying for it. Past Jobs: Dylan’s had a lot of odd jobs - he worked at a pizza shop for awhile, he was involved in an underground fighting ring for money, betting for or against himself. He taught ballroom dancing for a long while, because it paid good and they’d just teach him the week before. Plus, it kept him in shape. He’s worked at breweries, been a bartender, bar back, waiter, he stocked overnight at grocery stores, he’s been a bouncer at local clubs, security at theaters. Police Record: Sort of - he definitely did a lot of stupid things that would have warranted likely serious jailtime - trespassing, vandalism, breaking and entering - but the detective who had his case when he was a missing child always helped him out and bailed him out of the serious stuff. He only has light vandalism charges. Major Past Trauma/Illness - Are they still affected?: Dylan spent seven years in the captivity of a man named Mack Jacobi, in a half-finished basement. He was tormented and assaulted for a long time and that has lingered with him for years after. He doesn’t ever bring it up, or at least really tries to avoid it - sometimes, when he’s really tired or really inebriated, he’ll talk about it, but that doesn’t often happen either. He’s very claustrophobic, he hates blindfolds, and flinches still at loud noises. As far as anyone is concerned, Dylan just has a “rough past” - he can’t completely come to terms with how that portion of his life turned out. The only reason he got out is by building trust and then being allowed to cook - with a gas stove. The proximity to the flame gave him the go ahead to light the house on fire, giving him an escape. Mack survived, while burned, but got life in prison with the possibility of parole. Knowing there’s a chance he could be out in Dylan’s lifetime gives him a lot of anxiety. He gets night terrors sometimes, has a very fast temper.
SEX & ROMANCE:
First crush: A girl in his third grade class who was new - he can’t remember her name, but he did kiss her in the playground in the second week of school. First sexual experience - Was it a good or bad one?: It was a bad one. As Dylan puts it, he wasn’t taken because the man wanted a young friend. Sexual Type: Dominant, sometimes Switch Turn Ons: Giving/Receiving Oral, Bondage, Sensory Play, Exhibitionism, Multiple Partners, Orgasm Control, Rough Sex, Choking, Marking/Biting, Turn Offs: Bathroom Play, Vore, Gore, Blindfolds Love Type: Dylan is a secret sweetheart. He doesn’t have a lot, but he’s big on gestures and is pretty touchy when he’s with someone - hand holding, dancing, kissing in public. But he can definitely be the jealous type. He’s a big flirt, but once he’s with someone and has that dedication, he is only theirs. Significant Past Relationships: He had a longtime girlfriend, Billie, who he knew since they were kids. They reconnected when they were older, but they were either in extreme highs or extreme lows. It was clear to everyone but themselves they weren’t right for each other, but those two didn’t want to admit it. They both seemed to like the drama that came with that territory, enjoying loving each other and pissing each other off all in one.
MENTAL WELLNESS:
Psychological Issues/Mental Illnesses: Psychologists have told him that he has PTSD, he disagrees (he’d be wrong). He does have dyslexia, though. Gets bouts of anxiety. Outlook on Life: Basically just to say “fuck it”. He felt like he got a second chance at life when he was 18, so he’s gonna live it. Throw caution to the wind, and do whatever the hell you want. Myers-Briggs Personality Type: INTJ Temperament: Phlegmatic Sun Sign: Aquarius Moon Sign: Libra Rising Sign: Sagittarius Venus Sign: Capricorn Alignment: Lawful Evil Hogwarts House: Gryffindor What/Who do they value most?: Liam. His freedom. What/Who are they willing to die for?: Liam. His mom. Personal Philosophy: A man makes his own luck. Biggest Fear: Small spaces. Are they superstitious?: Not anymore. Greatest Strength: Resilience. You can really put him through a lot and he’ll keep up a hardened exterior. Greatest Weakness: He has a bad temper. With some things, if he’s pushed too far, it can be disastrous. He’s bad at reigning that in - to be honest, he can get overemotional at some things, and it gets him in trouble. Good Characteristics: Dylan is a bit of a flirt, and that’s putting it lightly. Some see it as a bad thing, but for him, it’s pretty rewarding. He’s very booksmart, absorbing a lot of what he reads or hears. Bad Characteristics: He doesn’t like accepting help from people, thinking he can usually do everything on his own. He’s a good liar and can weasel his way out of a lot of things - but that means deceiving people close to him. And worse yet, he doesn’t care a lot about it. He’s a little on the pessimistic side. Favorite thing about themself? Why?: He’s always been good with kids, or younger individuals. He’s had to go through group therapies and classes and sessions after he escaped, and he was usually one of the oldest ones. He’d volunteered at places that helped at-risk kids, and kids with troubled pasts. It always made him feel better that they had someone to talk to about what they’d been through, that they had an ear who understood. Least favorite? Why?: That he still carries around the traumas he’s endured. If he had it his way, he’d be able to drop that like extra weight. Biggest regret: Leaving Liam. Twice, when he was taken (though, logically, he knows it wasn’t his fault) and not trying harder to get him to come to the Institute with him. Proudest moment: Setting Mack Jacobi’s house on fire. Secondly, threatening to beat up the defense lawyer in the case after asking Dylan inappropriate questions, and the judge allowing it to stay in the record. Quirks: He only buys one brand of cigarettes, and loses the lighters a lot - he still is used to lighting them with his fingertips, so if you catch him snapping randomly in the air, no you didn’t. How are they in crisis? Dylan is very good in crisis. Things can always be worse and he’s been in enough tough situations to handle a lot and know what not to do. What do they wish to change most about themself?: His past.
SPEECH & COMMUNICATION:
Pace: Slow and deliberate. Voice Tone: Often questioning, with an air of slight condescension. A little nasally. Accent/Dialect: He has that Milwaukee native accent, don’tcha know. Speech Patterns: He ends a lot of sentences with a “yeah?” or a “does that make sense?” Favorite Words/Phrases: Fuck. Every meaning of it. Mannerisms/Demeanor: Keeps his fingers in his pockets - when he’s annoyed or scared, his fingers twitch, as if he’s trying not to bolt. Posture: A little hunched, like he’s being protective, or sneaky. Unsuspecting. Gestures: The classic manly head nod - he does it for way too much. How good are they at lying?: Pretty good, but it took years of practice. He’s not one that even lies often - but when he does, it’s hard to tell.
BEHAVIOR:
Finances: Growing up never having a lot of money, Dylan’s gotten used to it. He still doesn’t have much, so he’s learned to hold onto it. Alcohol Use: Not sober, but he doesn’t drink heavily, or very often. He really doesn’t drink to get drunk - if he’s drunk, that’s a sign of an underlying problem. Drug Use: He’ll smoke cigarettes like a chimney, but he’ll take edibles or smoke weed usually to fall asleep or when he wants to chill out. He doesn’t like taking it when he’s anxious or irritated, not wanting to have to rely on it. Morning/Night Person?: Morning person. Morning Routine: He gets up early to go on a morning run, or some sort of morning exercises. Before the sun is up is even better. He showers, sometimes he falls back asleep if he has time before breakfast is served in the slave’s cafeteria. Day Routine: If not class, he’ll spend time at the library. He likes the quiet, the openness, and he’ll find a spot to read. He does really like to explore, so he’ll go swimming or hiking. Evening Routine: Sometimes he’ll go out at night, usually to score, not to party. For someone who really doesn’t want to share a cell with people, he typically aims pretty high. Night Routine: He goes to bed early, but sometimes he just can’t sleep and has no choice but to stay up. He’ll usually be up stewing, thinking, or play games on his phone. Sleep Habits: Dylan’s a very light sleeper and he wakes up a lot in the night, especially with the creaking of the cells. Special Skills: He’s a very good dancer, and a pretty good singer, but he’ll disagree. He’s a fast runner. Has a mean right hook. Historically, pretty good at finding parking spots. Unskilled at: Music. He wants to play an instrument so badly, but his fingers don’t seem to work in that way. He can play the bass, sort of, but that knowledge is slipping away. Hobbies: He’s a big sports fan, especially the Green Bay Packers. He watches Milwaukee sports teams, or WWE. He likes documentaries, fascinated by history. He’ll go hiking, or he’ll go exploring. Dylan’s a big fan of horror movies, and once he finds a franchise, he has to watch all of them in order before he can move on to something else.
