little thanks i have each day
my dash is so negative right now so this is my dorky little personal yet positive post to brighten it up a bit :) -every morning i wake up and look my cat. i know it sounds silly, but that little guy has been such a nonstop positive energy in my life for the past 7 years. i hate the thought of even being without him. animals teach you this unconditional love that you can’t find anywhere else! i may sound like a total “cat lady” but really pets in general are such balls of little happy energy running around and they can really help destress and calm you in so many ways. if you have a dog just taking them out for a walk is so soothing and nice, with cats the repetitive motion of brushing or petting is almost meditating in a way. so for me #1 is: i’m thankful for my cat -speaking of my cat, he wakes me up to get fed early in the morning each day. about that time there is always the most gorgeous sunrise coming up over the cascades. if it wasn’t for him i’d sleep through it and miss one of the most serene moments of my day. i look out my window and the streets are silent and empty, and i always love the thought of knowing everyone is still cozy and comfy in bed. the roof across from me starts to steam as the sunlight reaches its frost and i can hear the birds and seagulls making their way for their breakfast. then that sun finally reveals itself in full and my whole window and kitchen lights up in a bright orange glow. i usually set my coffee machine at this time and either snuggle back up in bed or start my day off early. even if it’s rainy and overcast later in the day, it doesn’t matter because to me that beginning makes up for anything! #2: i’m thankful for the sunrise -word of advice to everyone: go to your local library and get a library card! i’ve always had library cards since a kid in whatever town i lived in. i mean, free books, magazines, movies, classes, etc; there is SO much a library has to offer. even if you aren’t interested too much into that it’s a great quiet place to go to just write or doodle or browse the various racks of books. (my thing lately has been going through old census records and old housing books from the county. sounds boring but it’s actually really interesting) mainly though, i’ve taken advantage of how much you can do in the city with a library card. you can get discounts, get into museums free (!!!), and get certain access to lessons/classes/etc. i’m always out somewhere the past couple months and so much of the activities i’ve done is thanks to my free lil plastic card. 3#: i’m thankful for my local library (and the beautiful people who keep it running, there’s a lady there who is so old and snarky and hilarious, i want to be her when i’m old) -for anyone that knows me knows i kind of tend to distance myself from people, but in the past year i’ve really tried to change that. and nowadays my relationships with others are so important. i mean, i don’t have 1000 friends or am meeting up with groups of people each weekend, but i met a lot of wonderful people the past months and i really have enjoyed each little aspect they bring to my life. artists, musicians, writers, etc. i sometimes feel really lucky to be able to interact with such amazing men and women and some amazing moments have already happened with so many of them. i mean i used to think (and still do thank you ego haha ) that i was very creative and talented with a few things but wow, some of their passion and abilities just absolutely blow me away. they inspire me so much and really show me how to have this unbeatable attitude to achieve anything you want in life. i’ve already had such great opportunities thanks to them. most importantly, and what i was getting to before i got sidetracked, was i have a really good relationship with my parents and family. my mom and i have not been in close in almost, well, never? but our bond has strengthened tenfold and it’s been a really rejuvenating for both of us. #4: i’m thankful for my friends and family i mean really this list could go on and on but i’ll round it out to 10 with quick finish #5. my little apartment! (one of my neighbors actually informed me the other day it’s the smallest one in our whole building !!! but it’s come together so cute and cozy) #6. i live by beautiful parks and hiking trails #7. my instruments and books #8. honestly this entire state because i will always think washington is the most beautiful place, and i always love that i was born here :) 9. okay screw everyone i’m putting my cat again because he just came and laid by me and did the cutest sound and then put this hands on his face (i’m one of those people where if you say you don’t like cats i kind of automatically distrust you) 10. me!!! sounds so conceited and self-centered but living a good life starts with being proud of yourself and your own biggest fan right? so yes, cheers to me for making it through so much and always being a trooper. :)
