i Submitted this to the Sonic 35th anniversary fanart gallery

there's been a long standing link between the Sonic community, Autism and ADHD. Sonic's attitude and kindness provides a place for us to feel safe and free of judgement while at the same time encouraging us to push ourselves further. also the series' large cast of characters celebrates differences and highlights their strengths, providing to many a feeling of representation

The Golden Infinity sign is the most widely accepted Symbol for Autism specifically, and it represents the infinite variations of ways people experience autism.

the butterflies are a symbol of ADHD, the way they flutter about mimics how our minds and or attention are constantly moving. they also represents our ability to adapt. their color also showcases Energy, Warmth and Creativity.

the final inclusion is the sign Sonic is making with his left Hand. Its a Sign From American Sign Language that translates as a abbreviated "i love you" and is universally accepted by the Deaf community as Representing ASL as a whole. a little bit of a personal story, Last year i got to meet Ryan Drummond at my local Comic-Con, i was extremely nervous and a little overwhelmed by the crowd so when it got to my turn i was struggling to speak in English. I am a CODA which means i have a Deaf parent and my first language is ASL, So when i met Ryan i was Signing as i tried to speak and he asked me if i was using sign language and when i told him yes he started speaking with me in ASL. it meant so much to me that Sonic himself in at least one form speaks my language, and i will forever hold that conversation in my heart.
