Why Fireplaces Are Never Out of Style
If you walk into any home and don't see a fireplace, it is likely that something is seriously wrong. Other things might come and go in our lives. The fireplace will not be one of those things.
A fireplace in your home is something you share with the world. A fireplace is an integral part of any family setting. It can be the focal point of the family scene. The fireplace is the center of our lives.
The fireplace is decorated during the holiday season. For Christmas, we hang stockings from the fireplace. During Hanukkah, we place the menorah on top of the fireplace. Santa descends on the fireplace to deliver presents. We all gather around the fireplace to share our gifts and to enjoy one another's company. Those special moments are always cherished by the fireplace.
It's much more than that. It is the romance that led to most of our families being born. Nine months later, the children are still bonded by the simple act of kissing, wine, music and a fire in the fireplace. We spend most of our time with them talking to them, reading to each other, and enjoying each others company by the fire. Ashes To Go
The fireplace is a part of many of our memories as we grow up with our children. The fireplace is always in the photo. We also take photos of our children in their prom dresses. We also take pictures of them as they get ready for graduation. We help them make big decisions in their lives by sitting them beside the fireplace. Which college will they attend? Which career is right for them? Who will they marry? During all these conversations, the fireplace is always right beside us helping us through our daily struggles.
It is obvious why it is always there for us in the best moments of our lives. It is warm and inviting to hear the crackling of the fireplace. It is the perfect background sound for reading, writing, or working on a project. On a day when you need to reflect, you can have a cup of coffee while looking out the window. You can relax by the crackling fire, making it even more enjoyable.
I've walked through houses with fireplaces in every room. It was traditionally located in the living room. We started to think about putting fireplaces in the basement and the den. It's now in the bedroom, bathroom, and on the patio. You can take portable fireplaces on camping trips. You can create a fireplace anywhere you want, using a fireplace insert or gel fuel.
The fireplace will not be obsolete. They are indispensable and I cannot imagine a world without them. The fireplace seems to work for all styles and ages.
