I’m only teasing, Mary Jane, relax. I’ve got quite a few friends on here, I know that people are generally truthful.
She would be interesting, though I don’t know if I’d want her to be my mentor. Sometimes you can’t appease others if you want to grow as a person. If you spend your life trying to make other people happy without going after what makes you happy, it’ll only lead to challenges further down the road.

She is incredibly cool, in both a literal and figurative sense. The base she’s stationed at is in the middle of an icy area. It can be. She embraces the expectations, though.

How are those two shows related? Is one the sequel of the other? What about Olivier do you find unique?

They’re not exactly sequels? They’re more like... revamps? I don’t know my anime’s all that well, I just know that Brotherhood is superior because it sticks to the manga. Well, she’s the firstborn of a very prominent and wealthy military family but, rather than just settling back, she is also the commander of one of the most dangerous and well defended military fort. All of her men are loyal to her and though she’s dubbed the “Ice Queen” she knows how to command respect.

I haven’t watched anime, and I haven’t heard of that show. But she sounds like an interesting character so I’ll probably look it up.
Because I literally don’t know anyone named Mary. Apart from one of my mom’s wine club friends, but she’s like 50-something, she doesn’t count. Unless you’re actually 50-something.
I highly recommend FMA Brotherhood. It’s more concise and it has one of the most satisfying endings to an anime ever. Another interesting character from that show would be Olivier Armstrong. She’s quite unique.

I highly doubt so. The writers need to tease the viewers with their ships. But I’d rather Kara be independent and not end up with anyone.
Don’t hold your breath, MJ. You don’t expect me to believe your name’s actually Mary, do you?
True. That’s a pretty good mindset actually. But, it is a bit disheartening to see “strong girls” in the media always being portrayed as not having someone to love. It’s possible for women to be strong and still be deeply in love with someone. Anime isn’t my forte, but a good example of a character like that would be Izumi from Full Metal Alchemist. Not only was she married and head over heels for her husband, she was also demonstrated to being one of the most powerful alchemists in the show.
But, American TV isn’t quite as nuanced. So, for now, Kara being single is the best course of action.

I hope the ratings do well too and they get renewed for a Season 2. It’s definitely nice for young girls to have a female superhero as their role model.
Nope, I’m really liking Mary Jane. It’s that or Mary Sue and no one wants to be a Mary Sue.
Here’s hoping. I just hope that the supporting actors continue to be as good as they are. I’d really like to avoid a silly love triangle between Kara, Winn, and James, but it’s prime time tv. I’m not optimistic.

They always say ratings for a show with a female lead aren’t as good as one with a male lead. But I don’t think that’s necessarily true.

Mhm, but who’s the “they” talking? White, heterosexual cis men, that’s who. Women can do just as well as men and, while I’m not thrilled with the casting choice, I honestly hope that the ratings do well. It’s been far too long since we’ve had a live action Supergirl on screen. Besides, I suppose it’ll be good for all those little girls out there to have a role model.

They really do. It’s something I wish more shows would consider doing and while we do have characters like Cat Graham and Annalise Keating and Peggy Carter, it’s sad that these types of characters aren’t the norm. People should be used to seeing a woman who’s not considered a “bitch” just because she takes action and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.

She’s definitely a pretty dynamic character-- she’s a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to take charge. I like seeing female characters like that because television needs more of them. Eh. She’s getting used to the character. I wouldn’t call that improvement.

Anyways, I’m sure you saw the recap I did of the new Supergirl episode. I stand by what I said-- Cat Grant is a gift to the show, the love triangle idea is trite and overused, this General Astra is interesting but not in the comic books, and Marley Rose continues to dazzle us all with her mediocrity.
