I don’t know what these questions are getting at, but I guess you’ll have to wait and see. Have some Amosan anatomy studies in lieu of an answer.
Pilot modification to Hibiki’s hair.
Is this still going on or is it on the back burner?
Backburner, if you could call it that, unfortunately. I’ve got a whole lore bible written to work from but nothing really works when I put it on paper. Add to that my career collapsing back in October I guess, needing to get a job and all of my art time being put towards commissions and you get nothing.
This is one of the last pieces I was preparing to post, which is Cara in traditional Black Elf cultural wear. Maybe I could add more character studies, but what do they look like? I dunno. Scenes or portraits? Architecture? Then, it’s like, do I draw her in Gold and Snow Elf wear to show off the three Houses? But that doesn’t make sense since she’s a black eagle, and things end up going nowhere and half a year later you realize the blog you were hoping to make a daily thing is dead.
Some old Cara doodles. I’ll try to get these bones moving again soon.
We've seen all the animals an buggos so far. But what do the elves look like? And what is their place in the world?
I must have made a miscommunication, because by elves I mean birds. It sticks out a bit because I don’t have any good names for Reptiles, Mammals or Insects. Dragonkin for Reptiles, and Vulyks, Inzhakhs or Nazkomoyansfor the bugs maybe?
Anyway, this is a good way to start. I’ll explain the four Pillars in-depth and draw some of the clans in-between the back asks.
How many countries reside in your world?
It changes depending on the time period and factions in power. I’ll list some of the big players below.
Canidian Federal Empire: A collection of Dog clans into a superstate making friends and planting flags all over Firma. They fuel most of the exploration in the world.
Felina: A Cat republic who end up the thorn in the side of nearly every civilization, either out of competition or just to play with their prey.
Korokod-al: The de-facto home of the Dragon religion and head of the theocratic and supremacist Reptile empire. Sometimes the Reptile states break apart and sometimes they come together, but when they do it’s always under the crown of of Korokod-al.
Vulyk Union: A militarist union of Insect hives spanning most of the Nazkomoyan continent.
Adlemar: Mountain range home of the Eagles. For most of their history they’re split between the Golds, Blacks and Whites and either feuding between each other or subjugating the nearby Austringans and what they see as lesser races in the other Pillars.
Ijuan-al: The Iguana homeland spanning most of the interior of the main continent, rich in mineral and oil reserves. They won their freedom from the Crocodiles in a violent revolution, and their national pride and hostility to imperial powers they’re surrounded by became part of their identity.
The others like Simia, the Wildcat, Parrot, Raptor and non-imperial Dog states, Hyena kingdoms, smaller hives, and Reptile vassal provinces play their roles, but aren’t as much in the spotlight. I might have a general map out soon.
One moment does Firman Tales play in the smae univers like the vixen and the doberman ? you know what i mean :D ?
It does. There’s a few different eras represented, and those two are in the near-future dystopian cyberpunk period. Mammal Culture Club is the 80s-inspired modern period, and Emerald Trail is the 20s/30s-inspired inter-war period.
Emerald Trail masterpost.
Hoping to keep his head down and get by as a security guard in post-war Canida, Imperial War vet and tracker scout Donitz is forced by a Felinese crime lord to find his missing archaeologist daughter. Joined by a crippled, vindictive Wasp knife enthusiast, a nearly-feral kitten thief, and an eccentric automaton tinkerer, their globe-spanning journey spirals beyond anything any of them could anticipate when they uncover the doomsday machinations of devilish Dragon cultists.
Added a little plot synopsis with it now.
Mammal Culture Club masterpost.
Hibiki Himura, a Vampire Bat born and raised in Felina, is excited when his family moves to Cactonia. Turns out life in San Tulio aren’t the way his Troppi comicos make it out to be. Join Hibiki, Cara, Pira and the rest of the Mammal Culture Club as they learn to live and grow together.

Are there any Foxes, in your univers, there must be some nice and smexy vixen, every univers need them ;D ?
Fuchsune are crossbreeds between Dog and Cats who end up with an unusually concentrated magic potential, or seeming wisdom eons ahead of their age. That makes them prime kidnapping targets for Dryads or Fairies, who steal them away to raise on their own. As adults they are mischievous and sly, able to infiltrate and mingle in either Cat or Dog societies to cause trouble or pass on the knowledge of the forests.
Cool new blog, mah’ dude. So, question: is there any kind of date/calendar system we should know about? And are multiple separate stories taking place at different points in time?
Thanks man. Fingers crossed for it. There are a few calendar systems in the world, the most useful being the Adlemarian lunar calendar, which is similar to ours, and is measured by the phases of the larger of Firma’s two moons. It’s the most popularly used. A few others are cyclical, religion-based Dragon calendar, the metric Pithikosian calendar, and the Vulyk era calendar, which inexplicably goes back for thousands of years longer than any scholar recognizes that it should. As for an actual year, that’s still to be worked out.
While the world is full of creatures, only a few stand above all others to create cultured societies. These are the Standing Pillars, races who through mutual agreement are considered people and not animals, grouped into four Pillars: Mammals, Elves, Reptiles and Insects, each with their own nations and peoples.
Well, here we are. Welcome to Firma. This will be a worldbuilding blog to explore and flesh out setting details for some stories I’m working on. You can go ahead and ask a question, or stay tuned and see what comes up.
