Clinton BlackBerry photo led to State official’s query about email account

An iconic photograph of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton using her BlackBerry while wearing sunglasses on a military plane in 2011 prompted a recordkeeping official in her office to inquire about whether Clinton had been assigned a State.gov email address, the State Department disclosed this week.

Clarence Finney, who oversaw an office responsible for Freedom of Information Act searches, raised the question about an official account after seeing the photo in the media, according to testimony at a deposition held Wednesday and released Thursday. The image went viral on social media in 2012, prompting a “Texts from Hillary” meme.

“When Mrs. Clinton’s photo appeared in the media with her using — appearing to use some sort of a mobile device, Clarence Finney checked with [information management staff] to confirm whether or not she still whether the answer was still that she did not have a State.gov e-mail account,” State Director of Executive Secretariat Staff Karin Lang said.

Listen.  I love my followers and my mutuals dearly.  You know how occasionally I post something like ‘every Jew on this site has a list in their head of who reblogs what and who ignores posts about Jews’?  I’m talking about this shit.  I have been seeing things on my dash about the situation of Jews in France for over a year, but it’s coming from other Jews 99% of the time.  Please stop ignoring this.  This is literally history repeating itself and we can’t be the only ones calling it out again.

This is the first I’ve heard of this, and I’m flabbergasted! If you go and read the article it’s even worse; “anti-Jewish violence is seven times higher than in the 1990s, and 40% of racist violence is against Jews, despite them making up just 1% of the population.” I mean, holy crap! I know Tumblr is very US-centric but this definitely needs to be heard about!!
