I think I've really pinpointed what bothers me about people with fat fetish being accused of objectifying fat people

like, imagine seeing the most ordinary couple you can think of, and at least one of the people in it is conventionally attractive. and the other person, they're really into their partner. if you asked them, that's the hottest person on the planet. and maybe they're not even particularly normal about it, but would you accuse them of objectifying that person, or would you, in good faith, assume there's more to their relationship?

now imagine *before* the two were together. do you think they thought that person was any less hot at that point? maybe they didn't know them as well, but is it wrong for them to think that that person is hot?

I think you can actually be creepy about this stuff, and there's a line one shouldn't cross, yeah. If people are taking creepshots of you, or sexually harassing you, that's no good. if someone's only getting in relationships with you to force their fetishes on you, that sucks. but we don't lump people who are attracted to skinny people together like that, right?

and yes, attraction to shiny people absolutely is the same. think about every time someone stops being attracted to their partner when they gained weight, or is picky about it when dating. but for them, it's a "preference"
