lot of stuff to say about the expansion announcement.
I'm actually surprised we got a real trailer and not just a teaser like other expansions, make me believe that the 2027 release date may not be too far away and that they keep it vague in case they encounter another jin dahaad type situation during development.
The hunter we see at the beginning looks a bit like Nata, so maybe timeskip. The fact that other characters have designs changes may also implie this.
Wilds is not beating the 4U2 allegations with that new map and Kush being the first returning monster revealed.
One of my problem with wilds is how map are designed around secret and how the game pushes them on you, it seems like the new map won't break away from this.
Kushala, I love you, you are in my top 10 Monsters, but please take a break. Like, they could have at least choose to make it rusted Kushala to fit with the sandy plain but no.
Talking about that cutscenes, we see that the Doshaguma seems to be guardians, so guardians are now going outside of wyveria. There's also a lot of focus on them on this new map, so probably to tell us that guardians are not a one of thing with base game and that new guardians are coming with the expansion
Going back to Kush, one thing I expected on case Elder would return would be the idea that they have an heavy influence on the weather changes. I would find it interesting if we have new type of weather or harsher version of already existing ones because of elder presences ( and make the weather feel like something that you actually have to fight against instead of mostly being visual changes)
The new monster is interesting, it's skeleton is very close to qurupeco and also hypnocatrice, so maybe, there's a chance.
Also, it finally seems like we have a monster that actually takes advantage of the monster pack mechanic, only took them two years...
new fighting mechanic where it seems like we are charging some flame burst and them do some powerful new moves. Wonder what it will be.
Lao my beloved. Actually one of the rare thing I'm exited to see how seikret will play a part in. Both old lao's fight are quite disliked by the MH community but I like the one I experienced ( GU ) so I'm very excited to see how they will modernize it. Curious to see where does this fight take place.
Also no NS2 port announced. But I kinda expected it with a potential Nintendo direct next week. If they didn't abandoned the idea, it's more fitted to be announced there
So yeah, I'm exited but I also have my reserves on some stuff. I always thought that no amount of expansion will make me entirely change my vision of Wilds because my problems with it are within the core game design and philosophy of the game, not something an expansion could change. With this trailer, I haven't changed my mind but it will still certainly be an enjoyable experience because more monster hunter is still more monster hunter ( insert the "wow, two cakes" meme here )
