Hello, I'm Fish, or Storm. This is my (bad) tumblr blog. I mostly post art here.

I use they/it/thon pronouns. I prefer that people use them interchangeably.

I am a paleontology nerd. Mostly about dinosaurs, especially ones that are either birds or closely related to birds.

I write original fiction. I am quite slow about it though.

I draw using firealpaca.

Crawling out of the pond I live in to tell people to read 17776 if they haven't already. It is very good and it made me feel Emotions. I can't really describe it without giving too away so you're going to have to trust me (the only thing I will say is that the intro is a little startling). Yes it is about American football (partially), but even as someone who doesn't understand American football at all I still really like it.

Hey so I'm going to be inactive on tumblr for the next couple of weeks. Perhaps even longer (hoping it will be longer). Partially because reading tumblr discourse makes me feel like I'm being waterboarded. But mostly because even though it's not the worst site out there, Tumblr is still incredibly shitty for artists, which feels incredibly discouraging. Especially when it comes to OC art- quite frankly, it feels like if I want more than five people to care about my art I have to stick to paleoart 90% of the time and I do not want to do that. Even though I love paleoart I feel like if I prioritised it that much I think I'd come to hate doing it.

Also, I've found that cara works much better for me even though it's still in beta (and also quite small)- especially since it's intended to be a community for artists, and that's something I really want. And quite frankly I don't feel like managing two accounts at the moment. So I'll just be posting my art there for now (link if anyone wants it).

Day 18- Family

For the foxes of the journey, family means everything, whether that is your siblings, your cousins, or your in-laws. It is common practice to list off recent notable family members when introducing yourself. Memorising your recent family tree (usually up to your fifth cousins) is also quite common. Two of the protagonists (depicted here) are also third cousins. Not 100% sure how exactly that happened since their cities are quite far apart from one another but if I had to guess it'd have involved a merchant of some sort from one of their cities meeting someone from the other one.

A long time ago, Syreisha, the leader of the gods, raised their younger sibling, Kesnaasha, all on their own. They were incredibly close, with Kesnaa being heavily dependent on them, even during adulthood. But they ended up with two more siblings, who Syra also had to raise. On top of this, Syra also decided that they needed worshippers. This all meant that they had less time to spend with Kesnaa, who quickly grew resentful. They impulsively decided to sabotage their sibling's little project by unleashing a plague upon the foxes. They didn't want to kill the worshippers, just make them sick enough for Syra to notice that something was wrong. Unfortunately, the plague had other plans. Desperately, Kesnaa tried to cover their tracks by curing the foxes, and even bringing some back from the dead, before Syra realised what had caused this sudden plague. Unfortunately, this only made it more obvious, as only two of the gods were capable of doing that. They were chased down, and exiled.

For Syra, this betrayal stung worse than anything they could ever imagine. They decided that it could never happen again to anyone. When outlining the codes that guided life on the island, they placed one rule above all other; there is no crime more heinous than hurting one's family member. While they'd never admit it, deep down, Syra knows that they aren't innocent.
