Leather Jackets and Midnight Kisses
Neighbours Au, Highschool Au, Badboy Au, Best friends to Lovers
Genre: Fluff, Angst, Slow burn, Semi-mutual pinning
Pairing: Badboy!Jisung X Reader
Wordcount:12.1k+
Warnings: Swearing, Kissing, mentions of food,
There was a loud knock at your front door signalling that your best friend and neighbour was there to take you to school. “Come in Jisung,” you shout, running around trying to grab your items for the school day. Jisung opens the door and notices the frantic expression on your face. “Everything okay,” he asks, trying to stifle a laugh after watching you almost trip over your untied shoelaces. “No! I ended up staying up late trying to finish the homework that our English teacher assigned last minute. So, I woke up just a couple of minutes ago and trying to get everything quickly so we won’t be late,” you shove a piece of toast in your mouth, shoving Jisung out the front door,” Okay Ji, let’s go.”
Once you arrive at school and Jisung parks his car, you immediately hop out of the car, sprint to the school entrance, and hold the door open for Jisung. “Come on dude, we’re going to be late to first period if you keep walking slowly,” you say urgently, hoping Jisung will pick up the pace, “please hurry it up, unlike you, I actually wanna make it to class on time.” Jisung rolls his eyes and starts walking faster than his usual turtle pace. He finally makes it to the entrance of the school and looks at the clock. Shit, 3 minutes until class starts. Jisung grabs your hand and you look up at him in confusion. He starts sprinting down the hall dragging you with him, obviously missing the sign that says "No Running In The Halls". But, thanks to Jisung and his quick thinking, you make it to class on time.
Oh, crap. The words you scream into your head. “I forgot my homework,” you think to yourself as you’re searching through your backpack. The teacher just asked for you all to turn in your homework from yesterday. You must’ve forgotten to shove it in your backpack when you were scrambling around trying not to be late for school. Great, another reason for your teacher to yell at you and blame those friends of yours. Just because they’re a bunch of misfits and troublemakers. You’re friends with the infamous group of so-called bad boys, Dreamz. However, you think they're a bunch of idiots. Especially Jisung. But being friends with them does not mean that you're a misfit too. Honestly, they aren’t either. They're just misunderstood. That and they don’t really like going to school or doing homework, but they all have some amazing talents and are really intelligent when they apply themselves with those talents.
Take Mark Lee for an example, he’s the eldest and the leader of the pack. He looks mean, but when you get to know him, he turns into a big goofball and rapping genius. He can also write amazing songs.
Then there’s Huang Renjun, who has the voice of an angel and is a fantastic dancer. He’s also a master of sarcasm and has a talent for drawing.
Lee Jeno is someone who definitely looks the most intimidating in the group. Always wearing black and his infamous leather jacket with a bunch of 80s and 90s patches ironed on. He’s also the bulkiest member who looks ready to fight anyone who dares speak to him. However, once you actually speak to him and talk he turns into a puppy and has a knack for acting and can play the guitar. He recently started rapping with Mark and is really good.
The next member of Dreamz is someone you should be wary of, Lee Donghyuck or more commonly known as Haechan. He is infamous for his pranks on both staff and students. But besides his pranks, he’s really good at singing and absolutely loves to cuddle with his friends.
Na Jaemin. The flirt. The playboy. The mom friend. He loves all of the boys equally and definitely doesn't favour Jisung over anyone else in the group. He's known for taking care of the boys and looking out for everyone. He's introverted, but when it comes to his friends he's loud and completely crazy at times. He's the one you go to for advice when you need it.
We then have the second youngest of the group, Zhong Chenle. Or as you like to call him, dolphin because of loud dolphin-like-laugh and high pitched screams. He also has the voice of an angel and a talented pianist. He's also the only one you would trust to cook your food.
Lastly, your best friend and neighbour, Park Jisung. The youngest of the group and in your opinion, the cutest. You would trust him with your life. He’s a really talented dancer and is really good at soccer. However, he is the clumsiest person you’ve ever met. You could not go a day without seeing him trip once, but not like you're one to talk. You, yourself are pretty clumsy too.
“Y/N, where’s your homework,” Mrs Kim asked with her hands on her hips giving you one of her disappointing looks you usually didn’t receive.
“Uhm, I left it on my desk. I ended up staying up late working on the assignment along with some other homework, passed out on my desk and then woke up late. I promise it's done, so can I just bring it in on Monday,” you ask, fiddling with the pencil in your hand.
“Fine, since I know you usually turn your homework in on time, but you better turn it in on Monday as soon as you enter this class otherwise, you’ll fail the assignment,” Mrs Kim says, moving onto the next student who didn’t turn in their homework. You sigh with relief, you can still maintain your high grades.
“May I presume you haven’t done the assignment Jisung,” Mrs Kim asks, already getting ready to mark his assignment as an F.
“Actually, I did the assignment, Mrs Kim. Here,” Jisung says, handing her the completed assignment. The look of shock on the teacher's face was priceless. She quickly regained her bearings and frowned in disappointment. “Hm, I hope you did the assignment correctly, otherwise you just might fail my class. Just like the rest of your classes and your other troublemaker friends.” You notice a flash of shock and dejection appear on Jisung’s face. Suddenly, a thought occurred. You know just what to do.
The bell rang signalling it was lunchtime. You got out of your seat and went to your locker to grab your lunch. When you arrived at your locker, Jisung was already standing there scrolling on his phone waiting for your arrival. He looked up from his phone when he heard footsteps approach and smiled once he saw you.
“Hey, Ji forgot to make lunch again,” you ask while unlocking your locker to grab your food.
“Nah, I just love your cooking so much that I purposely forget my lunch,” Jisung replies, pocketing his phone, helping you put your school books away.
“I figured as much, which is why I made double portions this time. Also, there’s something I want to discuss with you and the other boys at lunch. It's kinda important,” you respond, closing your locker, “Alright let’s go to the roof.”
Jisung opens the door to the roof, holding it open. You step outside and feel a cool spring breeze blow through the air. You see the other boys of Dreamz already sitting by the tree eating their lunch. You and Jisung walk over to them and sit down in your designated spots. You open your lunch and offer Jisung a portion of your food. He gladly takes it and starts eating. “So, I wanted to discuss something kind of important with you. Is that okay with you,” you inquire, setting your food down and looking at the others. They nod their heads in response but continue to stuff their face with food.
“Well, Jisung handed in an assignment today which not only shocked me but the teacher as well. I'm kind of worried that you guys might not graduate on time and graduation wouldn't be the same if I didn't graduate with you guys. So, I want to help you out and maybe form a study group. I know that I don’t really have to worry about Renjun, but I care about you all. You don’t have to worry about going to college after, I just want to be able to graduate with my best friends,” you say hastily, picking up your food, avoiding their gazes.
“You’ve got a point Y/N and I agree. I want to graduate on time. It wouldn’t be very cool to have to be held back for another year. The only problem is everyone thinks we’re stupid and we don't know anything and only know how to cause problems. If we suddenly start passing in assignments and doing well on tests, the teachers will just assume that we cheated somehow,” Mark retorts, closing the lid of his lunch box.
“You can prove them wrong and show them that you are smart and not some dumb misfits. I’ll help you with that. We can study together every day at lunchtime or after school. Whichever works for you. If the teachers do say something about you cheating then show them how hard you’ve been studying. Please? Try it for a month and then if you don’t improve by then and show them that you want to graduate on time then you can quit and I’ll stop trying to get you guys to do your homework or study, okay,” you request with a pleading look. They all look up at you and one by one they all slowly nod their heads in agreement.
“Okay, I guess we can give it a shot and since the mid-finals are next month and if we don’t improve by then we’ll quit,” Jaemin replies with a soft smile having a soft spot for you.
“Well, when should we start? What time works for you,” you ask, getting excited to study with your friends.
“Tomorrow is Saturday, so why not then, maybe mid-afternoon since someone always wakes up late,” Renjun responds, throwing a knocking smirk in Haechan’s direction.
“HEY,” Haechan says angrily.
“What? You know it's true, don’t even try to deny it,” Chenle interjects, never stepping away from a chance to tease the older boys, especially Haechan.
“I’ll get you back for this,” Haechan threatens, “No one is safe, not even Y/N.” You giggle at his “warning” full well knowing he’ll never prank you, he’s tried, failed, and ended up pranking the teacher instead. It was hilarious. He hung a bucket of paint on the door, knowing your schedule and knowing you usually show up to your classes 5 minutes early. However, he didn’t plan on you walking to class speaking to the teacher, and instead of the bucket falling onto you, it fell on the teacher. He ended up getting a week's detention and community service for the month. After that, he’s never tried to prank you again.
The day was over, you headed out the school doors with Jisung following close behind. Since it was Friday, you and Jisung have a tradition to go get milkshakes after school to celebrate the weekend.
“Shall we do our usual or mix it up today,” you ask, opening up the car door and sitting in the passenger side.
“Hmm, I think we should stick to the usual plan, but maybe mix up the drinks. I feel like we should mix up the drinks since we’ve been getting the same ones for the past few years,” Jisung counters, starting the car and backing out of the school’s parking lot. You both listened to the radio and sang along to yours and his playlist. Occasionally, you’d sneak a glance over at him and notice how his eyes gleamed in the light and how they crinkle with glee. His smile was so pretty. Wait. What are you thinking? Snap out of it Y/N. Jisung is your best friend.
You arrived at the diner and went to your usual booth. The waitress walked over to you two and smiled knowingly. “Hello, guys. Here for your usual Friday milkshakes,” she asks, getting ready to write down your order.
“Actually, we wanted to try something new. Maybe get smoothies instead. I’ll take a strawberry smoothie and some fries. What do you want Y/N? Remember I’m paying this time since you paid the last three times, so you can get whatever you want,” Jisung replies, folding his menu and handing it to the waitress.
“Mmm, I’ll take a mango smoothie and fries as well,” you say, looking at the waitress, giving her the menu as well. The waitress nods and walks to the kitchen giving the cook your order. “So, are we going to take the food to our spot or eat them here,” you ask, turning your head to look at Jisung?
“Well, I was thinking we could eat our food here and then go hang out at our spot and relax before going home. Considering we won’t get to do our usual Saturday gameathon,” Jisung replies, shaking up the ketchup bottle, knowing that you always dip your fries in ketchup.
“Sounds like a plan. Are we going to pull our usual all-nighter tonight or are we going to have to move that to tomorrow night,” you question, taking a sip of your smoothie, enjoying how the sweet flavour filled your taste buds, making you smile with delight?
“Mmm, we probably won’t be able to do our all-nighter tonight, but we can still facetime until it gets late. I know how cranky you can get if you don’t get your usual 8 hours of sleep,” Jisung comments, munching on fries and then taking a sip of his strawberry smoothie. You nod your head in agreement, enjoying the time you are currently spending with Jisung.
After Jisung paid for the food and drinks, you headed to your usual spot. None of the other guys knew about this place and you’d like to keep it that way. It’s just yours and Jisung’s place, no one else’s. While walking to your spot, Jisung randomly grabbed your hand and intertwined your fingers. You look up at him in shock. Jisung hates skinship, yet here he is holding your hand. When you look up at him, you notice how he tries to avoid any and all eye contact with you. There was also a small pink blush spread across his face and his ears were red as a rose. Your face began to burn and quickly looked away. You can feel your heart rate slowly pick up as you continue heading to the tree while holding his soft warm hand.
You immediately laid down as soon as you reached your tree. When you and Jisung first found this place, you carved both yours and his name on the tree. Ever since then, you’ve been coming here every Friday once school was over and after milkshakes at the diner. Jisung laid down next to you, he gestured for you to lay your head on his shoulder and you obliged. He wrapped his arm around your shoulder and pulled you in closer. You felt your heart rate pick up again. Stop it Y/n. He’s just being clingy because you won’t be able to do your gameathon.
You didn’t know how you fell asleep, but you did. Curled up in Jisung’s arms. His arms wrapped around your waist. Your face in the crook of his neck. And legs intertwined with each other. You were comfortable. However, your moment of comfort soon dissipated as Jisung slowly started to wake up.
“What time is it,” Jisung questions, noticing that the sun has started to set.
You shrug your shoulders and fish out your phone out of your back pocket. You realize that it wasn’t in your pocket, but laying on the grass beside you. “Around 6. We should probably head home,” you respond, getting up and wiping the grass off of your pants. You lend out a hand, helping Jisung get up. There was a comfortable silence that surrounded you and Jisung as you walked to his car. You secretly wished he would grab your hand and intertwine your fingers again. But Jisung is still shy when it comes to skinship. You should just enjoy that he held your hand once and let you cuddle with him. Though you don’t think he chose to cuddle that much with you. You both just fell asleep in the comfort of each other's arms. Yeah, that's it. He didn’t mean to cuddle and it meant nothing. You and Jisung are just friends. But a part of you still secretly wished you were more, not that you would ever admit that to yourself.
You two arrived at the car and promptly entered, somewhat eager to get home. “Hey, are we still going to facetime after dinner like usual,” you ask, buckling in your seat belt? You plug your phone into the AUX cord and ask, “Late night road trip,’’ Jisung nods his head for both questions and you shuffle the playlist. Krnb beats fill the car’s silence and you hum along to the words. Unbeknownst to you, Jisung sneaks glances at every red light. He can’t help but admire you and the way your eyes sparkle in the streetlight. Or how you hum along to songs when you don’t know the words. Wait. Jisung? What are you thinking? Stop it. Y/n is just your best friend. Yeah, just a friend.
You waved to Jisung as you walked into your house as Jisung walked into his. You went up to your room and noticed that you did leave your English assignment on your desk. You immediately stuck it in your backpack and got out homework from other classes. You sat at your desk and began to work. After half an hour of homework, your phone started to ring. You didn’t have to check the caller ID to know who it was.
“Hey, Jisung! What’s up,” you ask, moving from your desk to your bed.
You hear rustling from the other side of the line. “Mmm, nothing much. Just kinda bored so I thought I’d call,” he replies, moving around even more.
“Jisung, what the hell are you doing,” you ask, kind of annoyed at the constant rustling, “why is there so much rustling.”
“Oh, I’m trying to get comfortable, but there are too many clothes on the bed so I’m trying to push them off,” he responds with more shuffling in the background.
“You know, you could just put them away, right’’ you say, rolling your eyes.
“Wow, why didn’t I think of that,” he retorts sarcastically, laughing at your eye roll and sigh, “Okay, okay. I’ll put away my clothes.” While Jisung was putting away his clothes you scrolled through your phone hoping your boredom and tiredness would go away. As you felt sleepier you plugged your phone in knowing you’d probably fall asleep.
“Hey, Jisung? I think I’m gonna go, I’m kinda tired,” you say with a yawn.
“Nooo, don’t go,” Jisung whines, “Pleaseee, I’m bored. At least talk to me until you fall asleep.” You sigh and nod your head. You and Jisung ended up talking for two hours straight about anything and everything. However, you ended up passing out in the middle of one of Jisung’s stories. It took Jisung about ten minutes to realize that you fell asleep in the middle of his retelling of the time Jaemin tripped and fell in front of a girl he was flirting with and how it was definitely not Haechans fault. He took his time to admire you and how pretty you looked while you slept. He secretly took screenshots and set his favourite one as his home screen. He eventually fell asleep too while still being on call with you.
You were currently getting ready to head over to Jisungs so you both can head over to the library for your study session with the boys. You hear a knock at your door and roll your eyes knowing it’s Jisung. At this point of your friendship, you don’t understand why he didn’t just walk in. “Come in,” you shout from your bedroom.
Jisung walks in, heads to your room and asks, “Hey Y/n, you ready yet?”
“Yeah, let me just get my shoes on then we can go. I was actually about to head over, but guess you got a little excited to study,” you reply with a giggle.
Jisung rolls his eyes and says, “Yeah, studying is what I’m excited about.”
You smile at Jisung’s response and grab your backpack, “Alright let’s go. The others are probably waiting for us.” Jisung nods and takes your backpack from you and heads out your door to his car.
You and Jisung arrived at the public library and walked in. You checked your phone to check the time and noticed that you had several texts from Chenle and Renjun saying that they couldn’t make it because Haechan got sick. Jisung got a similar text from Mark about Jeno, Huh. That’s weird. You look over at him with a confused face and ask, “Did you get an ominous message from the boys?”
“Yeah, Mark texted me saying he and Jeno weren’t going to be able to make it because something came up,” He replies, scratching his neck in confusion.
"Huh, I got a message from both Chenle and Renjun saying Haechan was sick. Well, I guess we can go home," you say, getting ready to walk back out when Jisung grabs your hand and stops you from leaving.
"Just 'cuz they can't make it doesn't mean I can't. I still want to study," Jisung pleads, ‘Please Y/n?”
You smile and say, “You seem really determined to study so let’s study.” You grab Jisung’s hand and head to one of the library tables. You take out your school books and homework. “Alright, let’s start with English and then we can work on History. I know you’ll want to work on math last, which I don’t blame you, I hate math as well. Anyways, turn to page 394 in your book so we can start reading," you say, opening your book to the page.
You started to tutor Jisung and help him with any questions he asked. You both ended up making a lot of progress and without you knowing, every once and a while Jisung would look over at you and stare at your lips while you were speaking. Your voice was so melodic to his ears. Huh? What? Stop thinking about this Jisung.
A few hours later you decided that you and Jisung deserved to end this study session after cramming your heads with English idioms, historical facts, and math equations. “How about we go and get some ice cream to celebrate the end of the first study session. Hopefully, the other boys will be able to join us next time. I mean they’ll have to if they want to actually pass the exam,” you say with a sigh, somewhat disappointed that the study session ended so quickly.
You spend a lot of time with Jisung, but he’s never been so enthusiastic to study and so you found yourself enjoying your time with Jisung while you studied together. “Alright Ji, since you are the only one who showed up and actually studies, I’m going to take you out for ice cream. Obviously, you’ll have to drive so you can pick the place,” you say, grabbings Jisung’s hand for what seems to be the third time of the day and pulling him out of the library and to his car. You really hope he doesn’t know how sweaty your palms are and how your heart rate seems to speed up again. But you fail to realize that Jisung’s hand seems to be just as sweaty and his heart rate seems to be just as quick.
Once at the ice cream parlour you get Jisung two scoops of his favourite flavour and two scoops of yours. You both sit down outside enjoying the afternoon breeze. You and Jisung sat in silence while eating your ice cream. It was a comfortable silence that soon filled with laughter when you noticed Jisung had ice cream smeared on his face. “Ji, you’ve got some ice cream on your face right here,” you say, pointing to the ice cream spot. He wipes the corner of his mouth but misses the spot so you lean over and wipe it for him. When you are so close to him, you get a little distracted by his plump pink lips. You desperately wanted to push your lips onto his. Run your hands through his soft hair as you kiss. Ugh, you really needed to stop thinking like this. Jisung is just a friend.
“Uhm, Y/n,” Jisung says looking deeply into your eyes, “Everything okay?” You quickly back away soon realizing you’d been staring at his lips for a little too long.
A blush spreads across your face, you look away and reply, “Ah, sorry. I got a bit distracted.” Jisung nods and looks away too with a blush slowly creeping up on the back of his neck.
The car ride home was silent. Only soft Krnb played in the background. You weren't sure if it was awkward after you stared at Jisung or if you made him uncomfortable. “Hey Ji, sorry for earlier. I hope I didn’t make it awkward or uncomfortable. My mind really did just wander,” you utter.
“Don’t worry Y/n. I get that my face is so pretty you can easily get distracted,” he replies with a smug smirk upon his pretty pink lips. Which caused you to roll your eyes with a small smile. His joke helped calm down your anxiety. You both started to sing along when your favourite song came on
You couldn’t believe it was already your last study session with the boys. They’ve made so much progress. Even Haechan is quite brilliant when he isn’t goofing around and is actually focusing. You really think they’re going to pass the exam. “Alright guys, since this is going to be our last study session, I have a proposition for you. If you all focus on studying today, I’ll take you to the fair and pay for whatever you want as a celebration for doing so well. Seriously, guys, I’m really proud of you,” you say with excitement. They all look over at you and they share your excitement.
“Wait. Really,” Chenle asks, getting really excited.
You smile over at him and nod your head, “Yup, after we finish studying we’re going to go.”
“Wow, you’re the best Y/n,” Renjun says with a smile.
Mark ruffles your hair with a smile. They all love you and are really grateful to have someone like you in their lives. If it wasn’t for you, they wouldn’t be here, at the library studying for the upcoming exam. They all look at you with love and admiration in their eyes. They couldn’t believe that someone so smart and kind would help someone like them. They were known as misfits and troublemakers. The stupid kids. Kids who had nothing going for them. So many people didn’t see the potential they had in life. But you did. When Jisung first introduced you to them, they were hesitant to accept you, but they all started to accept you little by little. And now they couldn’t imagine life without you.
“Alright, guys. Here are your tickets, now which ride should we go on first or should we do some games first,” you ask, handing everyone their tickets, “Should we go together as a group or split up in teams?”
“I think teams so it’s not too crowded. How about Haechan, Renjun, and Jeno with me as a group? That leaves Chenle, Jaemin, Jisung and Y/n. We should meet back here at 5 to have dinner and then go back to the fair until closing. Sound like a plan,” Mark replies looking over at the others seeing their response to his proposition.
“Yeah that sounds like a good idea,” Jaemin says, nodding his head in agreement. Renjun looks a little dejected at the announcement of the teams which goes unnoticed by the others as they all quickly agree.
You four split off from the others, walked away from the rides, and walked towards the fair games. Though that statement is somewhat untrue as most people know that games at fairs, carnivals, and amusement parks aren’t really known to be fair. But people still spend a lot of money trying to win those giant prizes. You couldn’t blame them though, a lot of those plushies were really cute plus it was a lot of fun to play those games and attempt to win one of the big prizes and not a small fish.
You guys were currently discussing what game you should play first. Jaemin and yourself wanted to play darts while Chenle and Jisung wanted to do the water gun game. When you guys were playing rock paper scissors to decide what game you should play first, every round ended up in a tie. So, you guys decided to go to whatever game is closer. Which happened to be Jisung and Chenle’s game.
While walking to the game you all placed bets on who would win 1st. The person in the last place would have to pay for funnel cake. As you continued walking towards the game and kept discussing the bet and putting rules in place so it would all be fair and no one could cheat, you noticed that Jisung had been rather quiet. You swiftly move towards him. “Hey Ji. Everything okay,” you look up at him, “You’ve been rather quiet today.”
He looks over at you and nods, “Yeah, don’t worry. I’m just enjoying the breeze and you guys placing bets when you know I’m going to win.” He gives you a smirk when you roll your eyes at his comment.
“Haha, so funny. You should know by now that I’M going to kick your ass.”
“Fine, how about a bet between us two. I win, I’ll get you food and if you win you have to get me food.”
You nod, you're thinking about it for a second, “Hmm, okay. That sounds like a deal.’’
What you and Jisung failed to realize was that both Chenle and Jaemin quietly slipped away from you two while you were immersed in your conversation. Both yours and Jisung’s phone buzzed. You looked at your phone: Three New Messages from Nana.
Nana
Now's your chance y/n.
Make your move.
And enjoy your date ;)
You sigh. You can’t believe both Chenle and Jaemin left you and Jisung...alone. Great.
When Jisung looked at his phone he noticed he had five new messages from Chenle. Huh?
Lele The Dolphin
Jisung, you better make a fucking move.
Jaemin and I have given you the perfect opportunity to make a move.
So you better do it.
Also, enjoy your date.
Now kiss the girl so I can stop hearing you whine about her.
Jisung didn’t know how to react to Chenle’s message. He was going to tell you about it but he thought it might’ve been a bit awkward since Chenle was suggesting it was a date.
But what Jisung didn’t know was that you were in the same predicament with Jaemin’s message.
"Ji, I think they ditched us. What should we do then,” you look up at him, ‘Should we just continue on with our bet?”
“Um, why not? I don’t think they’re going to come back any time soon.”
You and Jisung continued walking to the water gun game. Every once and a while your fingers would brush and you would feel a jolt of electricity run through you. Butterflies would flutter through your stomach and your face would turn red. To anyone who looked at you two they would think you were a couple. But to you and Jisung? You were just two friends hanging out and whose friends thought they liked each other. Crazy right? That’s what you were thinking.
You and Jisung sat at the game after paying for the round. You look over at him with a confident smirk while he’s doing the same to you. The bell signals and the game is on. You aim for the centre of the clown’s mouth. Your balloon was filling faster than Jisung. A confident smirk creeps up on your face. Your victory will soon reign through and Jisung will buy you cotton candy. You regain your concentration after staring at Jisung for 0.5 seconds. A balloon pops. The bell rings signalling a winner. You...you lost?
"YES," Jisung screams in victory. He has a giant grin plastered to his. He looks so happy. You look over at him with a shocked face. Upon seeing Jisung look extremely happy, you start to smile along with him.
“Alright, Jisung, since you won, I’ll buy you food,” you say, admitting defeat.
The carny handed Jisung a medium-sized plushie for winning the game. Jisung smiled and handed you the plushie, “Here take this as compensation for paying for the fair today.”
You smiled in return and accepted the plushie happily, “Thanks, Ji. Now, what do you want for your prize.” Please say kiss, pleaseee say kiss. Ugh, shut up brain.
“Mm, how ‘bout cotton candy as a snack,” he replies, noticing others around him who had bags of the sweet fairy floss.
You grin excitedly, “I’m totally okay with that.”
You grab Jisung's hand and drag him to the food vendor that was selling your sugar high inducing candy. As you walked to the vendor’s hand in hand, thoughts raced through your mind. And every once in a while your heart would skip a beat when Jisung would squeeze your hand.
Once you arrive at the vendor who sells cotton candy, you immediately got in line. You were waiting to order and pay for the delicious treat, while Jisung sat on a bench and scrolled through his phone. You secretly started to take pictures of him. He just looked so cute. You then notice a girl around your age walk up to Jisung and sit next to him. Huh? Who the fuck is this? She strikes up a conversation with him and he laughs at the things she said. What’s going on? You don’t know why, but your heart felt like it would shatter right then and there. Knowing that someone so attractive could easily flirt with Jisung and make him laugh. Why? Why does it hurt watching him laugh and smile at someone that wasn’t you? You wanted to cry, but you couldn’t. Not in front of all of these people. So, you hold back your tears and order the food otherwise Jisung might wonder where you were.
Jisung has never felt more uncomfortable than at that moment. Who was this girl? He didn’t know. Why was she talking to him? Is she flirting with him? What the fuck is going on? He didn’t know how to react or respond so he just laughed and smiled acting like he knew what was happening.
“So, I don’t usually do this, but I think you’re really cute and I was wondering if I could get your number?”
“Uhm, sorry but I have a girlfriend already,” Jisung shifts on the bench feeling awkward.
The girl scoffs and rolls her eyes, “Sure you do. I know I may seem a little intimidating, but I really want to ask you on a date. So please give me your number.”
The girl flashes Jisung a flirty smile, but he still refuses to give her his number. Luckily, you came back in time with the cotton candy.
“Hey Ji. Who’s this,” you ask, walking up to them.
"Uhm I don't know. She just kinda came up to me while you were getting the food.”
The girl rolls her eyes again, “Who are you? I’m trying to get his number.”
“I’m his-” you start.
“Girlfriend. She’s my girlfriend. You know, the one I was telling you about,” He cuts you off and gives you a look telling you to go along with it.
“Yeah, he's my boyfriend,” your heart flutters at the statement, wishing it was true.
The girl rolls her eyes for the third time, gets up, and walks away.
Jisung released a breath he didn’t know he was holding in. He looks over at you and smiles.
“Thanks, Y/n. She wouldn’t leave me alone.”
“Of course Jisung. Now, should we enjoy our cotton candy and then continue on with our day?”
He nods and you hand him the delicious melted sugar. You both enjoy the treat while talking about what to do next.
You and Jisung met up with the other boys at the ticket stand and started to debate what you should eat for dinner. Some wanted to eat fried chicken and others wanted to eat cheeseburgers. You on the other hand wanted nachos and a pretzel.
“Maybe we can each get what we want. I’ll hand you guys each money and you can get what you want and then we can meet up here and each together? Because I don’t know about you, but I’m craving nachos and a pretzel,” you pull out your wallet.
"That sounds like a great idea! I was actually craving for that too," Jisung says with a big smile making his cheekbones show.
Everyone else nods their head in agreement and you hand them each a respective amount to get them food, dessert, snacks, and a drink. While everyone else split off into other directions, leaving you and Jisung alone once again. You had a feeling this wouldn't be the last time you would be alone with him tonight.
"You know what sounds good? Adding chilli to the nachos," you get excited thinking about the spicy taste it'll bring alongside the nacho cheese with the savoury chips. Your mouth watered at the thought of squeezing a packet of mustard on your salted pretzel. You were so hungry, you couldn't wait to get your food and devour it. You saw the look on Jisung's face and you knew he couldn't agree more. "I guess nachos with chilli cheese and a pretzel with mustard."
"Did you say mustard," Jisung whips his head, looking over at you with a shocked face?
"Yeah? You don't usually put mustard on your pretzels," you ask, slightly confused.
"No, I dip them in nacho cheese."
"Huh, never had that. I'll try it with the cheese and you should try it with mustard. It really adds to the taste of the salty pretzel."
“Mmm, that sounds like a good idea.”
Once you and Jisung got your nachos, pretzels, and some drinks you headed back to the meeting spot. You see the others with their various choices for food. You see Chenle with a corn dog, french fries, funnel cake, and a slushie.
“Lele, I thought you wanted a cheeseburger,” you ask, stifling a laugh.
“Well, I was agreeing with them because it would be easier, but since you suggested that we get what we’re craving so I got what I was craving,” he responds looking away.
“Don’t worry, I ended up getting chilli on my nachos and Ji inspired me to try cheese with my pretzel instead of mustard,” you smile.
“Wait, you eat pretzels with cheese,” Renjun asks looking over at Jisung.
“You don’t,” Jaemin says, looking over at Renjun.
You all laugh at the stupidity of the conversation and continue talking while eating your dinner. You're really glad that you and the rest of the boys took this break after working so hard to study. You look over at the others with pure glee and a smile that won’t leave your face. You continue laughing with the others and enjoying your night.
You and the others finished eating and now you can continue enjoying the fair. Since it was getting dark, you thought it would be a perfect time to go on the Ferris wheel to look at the sunset at the top. The way the blue sky slowly dissipates and goes from a light blue to an orangy and magenta hue. It would be quite the sight to witness it with Jisung. Yeah, it would be amazing and kind of romantic.
Everyone in the group starts to leave and continue enjoying the fair. Jaemin and Chenle decided to ditch you and JIsung again. “Do you want to ride the Ferris Wheel,” you ask, trying to be casual about it?
Jisung blushes at the thought of such a romantic moment with you. Alone. At the top. When the sun is setting. His heart raced at the thought of being so close to you. Wait. He’s afraid of heights. “No, no, no. I would love to but I am terrified of heights.”
You try not to show your disappointment. You smile slightly, “That’s okay. I can just go by myself.”
“I’ll watch from here and take pics, okay?”
You nod and walk away to wait in line. As you scroll on your phone, Jisung admires your cute pouty look and starts to take pictures of you without your knowledge. He has a smile on his face and if anyone looked at him, could tell he was in love.
It was your turn to ride the Ferris Wheel. You sat down getting ready to enjoy the beautiful sunset, even if you were by yourself, you’ll enjoy this moment. The ride operator looks over at you and notices that you were alone.
“Are you alone,” he asks?
You sheepishly nod your head yes.
“Lone rider here! Does anyone want to come sit next to this beautiful young lady,” the operator shouts, gathering the attention of everyone around. You look away slightly embarrassed and with a blush slowly spreading across your face. But then a teenage boy around your age steps forward. He’s very attractive. He has a skaterboy aesthetic to him. His hair is dyed blonde and he’s got a smirk on his face. He seems to be cocky, but it looks attractive on him.
Jisung did not like the look of this boy. He might sweep you off your feet. He had to do something. So, with a bold step, he walked forward before the other guy could say anything, “Can I sit by you?” He looks at you with an unknown look in his eyes. Maybe determination? Love? Jealousy?
You look up at him in surprise. “Jisung? Uh...Yeah...Sure.” He smiles and rushes over to sit next to you. “I thought you were afraid of heights?” You look over and smirk slightly.
“Uh, I am. But I’d rather ride with you than some random stranger.”
You laugh, ”Were you jealous Ji?”
“No way. Why would I be jealous?”
The ride starts moving and silence washes over the both of you. It was a comfortable silence. You haven’t been this close to him in a while. Your fingers keep brushing together and there is a soft breeze blowing through your hair. Maybe you should thread your fingers with his. But you didn’t have to. Jisung was thinking the same thing and he lightly took your hand into his and intertwined your fingers with his. He gently squeezed your hand and with a soft smile present on his face, he looked over at you with nothing but pure love and admiration. You mirrored his look. A soft smile graced your lips and as if a magnet pulled you two closer. Your eyes locked with one another. And as you reach the top of the Ferris wheel and stopped. You take in the scenery. If this was your first date, it would be absolutely perfect. Romantic scenery and with the boy you love. Absolutely perfect.
Jisung looks at you with a soft look and whispers, “Uhm, can I kiss you?”
You nod, not trusting your voice. That's all it took for Jisung to close the gap between you two. His lips and yours moulded together perfectly, like the final piece of a puzzle. His lips tasted salty from the pretzel you two shared later that evening. It was kind of sloppy for your first kiss, but it still felt magical and left you both breathless. And as you separated from each other you couldn’t help but chase his lips wanting the kiss to not be over. You pull away as the ride starts moving again. You look away from each other with a visible red hue spreading across your faces. You can’t believe you just kissed your best friend. You can’t believe that you loved it. But most importantly, you can’t believe you’re in love with Park Jisung. Your idiot of a best friend. But you are completely, hopelessly, in love with him. You realized it the moment your lips met. Oh no. What are you going to do now?
It was Monday again. You hadn’t seen Jisung since you and he kissed that night. He hasn’t messaged you, but you haven’t made an effort to reach out to him either. You really hope you didn’t mess things up between you two. Not only do you have to be in the same car as Jisung, but it was also the day of the mid-exam. You were nervous, not only for yourself but for the others as well. You grabbed your backpack and slung it over your shoulder. Your phone’s notification sound went off, signalling that Jisung was probably outside waiting for you. Why he didn’t walk in, left you beyond confused. But that didn’t matter, at least he was texting again. Your phone goes off again. You roll your eyes at Jisung’s impatience and walked out the door. In your driveway, you see Jisung leaning up against his car in his usual “bad boy” outfit and his signature leather jacket. He’s scrolling through his phone with a bored loo, but once he hears your front door being shut and see you locking it, his face goes from a bored one to a soft and gentle one.
“Hey. Hope you haven’t had breakfast yet. I picked up your favourite from Hello Future Diner,” Jisung walks towards the passenger side of the car and opens the door for you. He then gives you the bag of food.
“I didn’t have time, thanks, Ji,” you smile, feeling a bit shy.
You didn’t expect Jisung to be this affectionate towards you. He backs out of your driveway, with one hand on the steering wheel and the other intertwined with yours. His thumb softly caressing your knuckles. You’ve never felt happier than at this moment.
Your heartbeat thumped faster as the clock ticked down. You were nervous, to say the least. You were in the middle of your mid-exam for the last class of the day and you were not focusing on your test. Nope. Instead, you were thinking of your best friend. And the way his hair fell over his eyes. His face scrunched up in concentration as he chewed on his bottom lip. He looked so cute. His eyes lit up once he figured out the answer and he started to write his answer. Stop it. You can’t do this right now. Focus Y/n, focus. You snap back to your test and quickly start writing answers.
The bell rings signalling the end of your day and that the hell of testing has finally finished. You shoved your books and pencils into your backpack. Jisung walks up to you and quietly waits for you to finish. He takes your bag before you can pick it up and drape it onto your shoulder. You watch him take it from you and sling it onto his. You roll your eyes and take his hand into yours. “Alright Ji, now we wait until Thursday for them to give us back our exam scores. I know you guys did great."
You and Jisung walk out of the classroom door hand in hand. A lot of people have been speculating whether or not Jisung finally asked you and if you were finally dating. Sadly, you were still friends. Maybe you should take it into your own hands and ask him to be yours.
"So, what are your plans? Since exams are over and the teachers didn't assign any homework," Jisung asks, swinging your hands as you walk.
“Mmm, not sure. What about you?” You push open the school entrance door and walk out.
“I’m not sure either.” He unlocks the car and opens the door for you.
You enter the passenger seat and buckle in, “Well, do you wanna have a gameathon? Not all night obviously, but for a couple of hours and then we can order pizza for dinner.”
“Sure, but I call dibs on picking the first game we play,” he pulls out of the parking lot and heads for your house.
“You sir, got yourself a deal.”
You and Jisung walk into your house and slip off your shoes. You both greet your mom and head upstairs to your room. You and Jisung decided to leave your backpacks in his car since you won’t really be needing them. You boot up your game console and toss Jisung a controller.
“Alright, Ji. Pick the first game.”
He sits down and you sit down next to him. But that’s not where he wanted you to sit, so he pulled you closer to him and pats the spot in front of him gesturing that you sit between his legs. You roll your eyes and move to sit between his legs. He wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you even closer. He rests his chin on your shoulder and he kisses your cheek. He clicks on Mario Kart and the music plays through your tv. You both choose your characters and choose a cup to start off with.
Throughout the entire first map, Jisung kept kissing you on the cheek and hugging you tighter every time you got in the lead as a way to distract you. You hate to admit it but it worked. Now that it was your turn to pick the cup. You picked the crossing cup and grinned. You were really good at all the maps that were in this cup. However, you had to get revenge on Jisung for distracting you. So, when he got in first place and you were unable to take first place back, you turned around and kissed him on his slightly chapped lips. It only lasted for a quick second, but it did the trick in distracting him. He sat there frozen. He can still feel your lips on his as if they were still present. He brings his hand up to his lips lightly touching them. He then takes your controller out of your hand, you were about to protest because you were about to win but he cut you off by pressing his lips against yours. It lasted for about five seconds, but you still felt fireworks. But you couldn’t get enough, so you wrapped your arms around your neck and pulled his lips to yours again. He wrapped his arms around your waist again, pulling you into his chest. You run your hands through his hair, slightly tugging on the strands on the back of his neck. And once you pull away from him, you both have the biggest grins. You peck his lips and cuddle back into his arms and decide to stop playing games and instead put on a movie.
It was Thursday, meaning you were finally going to get your mid-exam back and see what you scored. You’re really hoping you did really well, as well as the boys. You sigh, you can feel the nervousness surround you as the first teacher of the day hands you back your exam. You flip it over and notice that you got 90%. You grin and show Jisung your score. He smiles in return and shows you his. He got a 95…You were so proud of him. You couldn’t believe it, you want to hug and kiss him. But that’ll have to wait.
You sigh in relief, the anxiety and nervousness finally leaving your body as you receive your last exam. You passed all of them and so did the other boys. You were so proud of them. So, when Jisung suggested that the eight of you go to Hello Future Diner and get celebratory milkshakes early, you did not disagree. You and Jisung ride in one car and the boys are in another. Jisung holds your hand while telling you how proud of is of both you and himself. He has the widest smile stretched across his lips and when he looks over at you, he can see that you have a matching grin and he just shows pure love and fondness in his eyes.
“So, I’m throwing a party at my place Saturday night to celebrate all of us passing and us finally getting our shit together so we can graduate,” Haechan announces abruptly.
You take a sip of your milkshake, “That sounds like a great idea. I could use a day to get loose and have some fun.”
The others nod in agreement. “Yeah, I totally agree. I could let loose and flirt with some girls,” Jaemin says with a smirk. You roll your eyes at his comment with a smile.
“Wait isn’t that the day of our gameathon,” Jisung looks over at you.
“Oh yeahh. Well, we can always start the day with our gameathon, get ready at my house, since we’ll be there anyway, and then we can go to Hyuck’s house,” you reply, grabbing a fry and dipping it in ketchup.
“That sounds like a plan,” Jisung nods, stealing a fry from you.
“Hey, Y/n you have ketchup right here,” Renjun points to the lower right corner of your mouth. You couldn’t seem to find the spot he was talking about so he rolled his eyes and leaned over the table. He wiped the ketchup off with his thumb
It was Saturday evening and you were getting ready with Jisung for Haechan’s party. You're currently applying a new flavour of chapstick. Jisung is currently sitting on your bed scrolling through his phone. When he looks up, “is that a new chapstick flavour can I try it? I wanna have a taste.”
“Sure, it's strawberry” you reply walking over to Jisung to hand him the tube of chapstick, but instead he grabs your face and pulls your lips to his kissing you on the lips. " Idiot, I was going to give you the chapstick," you respond breathlessly, pulling away from him.
Jisungs face goes completely red and looks away shyly. "Oh.."
You and Jisung make your way into Haechan’s house, slowly making your way through the crowd, hand in hand trying not to get lost in the sea of people. Jisung has a vice grip on your hand trying to not let go, however, apparently it wasn’t tight enough because soon enough Jisung’s hand felt light and he turned to see if you were still there. You weren’t. Panic surged through his body. Where the hell did you go? He kept walking through various people, some dancing and others just talking, but he couldn’t see you no matter where he went. He was shouting your name, but it was probably pointless because of the heavy bass of the music. But what he didn’t expect in his search to find you, was the girl from the fair to come up to him and start flirting with him.
How could you not find Jisung? He was as tall as a tree. He should be easy to spot. Yet here you were struggling to find the tree. You kept dodging and weaving your way through the crowd. Then you finally see him, but what you didn’t expect was to see another girl clinging to him. It was the same girl from the fair. She was currently trying to kiss his cheek. What the hell? Does he like her? Jealousy fills every fibre of your body, you could not just stand here and watch another girl cling onto Jisung. You march over to them with steam coming out of your ears. Jisung sees you walking towards him and his face lights up.
“Hey, Jisung,” you say trying to bite back a snarl.
Jisung could tell something was wrong. He could hear the venom dripping from your tongue. He panics, did something happen to you when he wasn’t near? He could see you glaring daggers at the girl. He could tell you were holding back an immeasurable amount of anger.
“Who the fuck do you think you are? Haven’t we told you that he’s taken? And here I am bitch seeing you clinging to MY boyfriend,” you were fuming.
“Well, then you obviously don’t care about him enough if he was here by himself. I bet you were flirting with another guy. You seem like the type to jump from guy to guy,” you could see the anger in her eyes as she said those words.
“Don’t make me laugh. You’re one to talk, considering you’re here flirting with a taken man. And didn’t I see you flirting with Jaemin the other day? Oh yeah, I also remember Mark telling me about this cute girl that was flirting with him. I’m pretty sure Renjun said the same thing. You see, you don’t want Jisung purely because you see how much of a great guy he is. No, you want him just to be able to brag and say that you were able to bag all of the Dreamz. You know how I know? Because there are so many girls that are just like you, but they always fail. As they should because you don’t deserve the greatness that any of the boys would give you. You wouldn’t appreciate any of them,” a crowd started to gather as you continued to go off on the girl.
“You want to know what you’re a failure at? Not caring enough about him that you would leave him alone several times. Or did you seem to forget that this isn’t the first time I talked to him? Oh, wait most of the time you weren’t there. Guess I can safely say you don’t deserve him, let alone any of them. Do you know why? Because you’re a pathetic loser who lives off of trying to seem like a goodie-two-shoes, but deep down inside? Is actually a bitch who’s scared of not being liked,” the girl bites back.
That was the final thread cut. You were seeing red and the next thing you knew was your first was hurling towards the girls face, but before you could land a hit, Jisung pulls you away from her and whispers, “Babe, she’s not worth it. Come on, let’s get you a drink to cool off.”
Jisung threads his fingers with yours and pulls you away from the almost fight scene. He kisses your head once you arrived in the kitchen. He pulls you into a hug and rests his head on yours. You bury your face in the crook of his neck and breathe in the scent of his cologne. The soothing scent begins to calm your anger and you can feel it seep out of your veins.
“Y/n, don’t listen to her. You’re not a pathetic loser nor are you hiding behind a facade,” he takes your face in his hands and gives you a quick kiss, “I promise that you’re the only one that I care about besides the boys.” He gives you another quick kiss again. You feel tears prick your eyes and you can feel the love he’s giving you as he wipes your tears. “Let’s go find the boys, okay?” You nod and go search for the others.
"I think I'm in love with you," you say, staring into Jisung’s eyes, half hoping he heard you and half hoping he didn’t. The others left a few minutes ago, getting whisked away on the dance floor. You thought you should use this opportunity to finally confess to Jisung about how you feel.
"This place is so loud, what did you say," Jisung asks, looking down at you, slightly leaning over. Or not.
"I said I think I'm gonna go get some more juice. Do you want some,” you reply looking down into your red solo cup noticing that it was almost empty. Your one shot to confessing is blown by this stupid party. Not only did you almost get in a fight, but you also failed at confessing. Now your kind of wishing that you and Jisung stayed at your house playing video games. Well, it’s too late now.
After you tried to confess to Jisung a few weeks back and it went horribly wrong, it got you thinking. How does Jisung view you? You were currently cuddled next to Jisung, hanging out at your spot with a warm breeze blowing through your hair.
“Am I really just your friend,” you ask looking up at him
"Well your best friend, why?" Jisung replies, blowing a strand of hair out of his face.
“No reason,” you reply, staring at his gorgeous face. Studying each feature. He has his eyes closed, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the softness of the grass. He’s so kind. Despite what people say about Dreamz. They all are, but he seems to be the sweetest. You’re so in love with your best friend. Man..you’re screwed.
It’s been months since the party and the line between friends and lovers have only gotten blurrier. To be honest, you didn’t know what you were. Neither of you established whether you were just friends or if you were more. However, right now you were in the middle of arguing with Jisung. He went on a date with someone from school and ended up forgetting about your already made plans to hang out. And truthfully speaking you were tired of being in the unknown. He does all these things that make seem like he returns your feelings but then goes on a date with some random girl from school. You decided enough was enough and you confronted him. But it didn’t turn out the way you hoped it would...
“Sometimes I don’t understand you Jisung. Sometimes you treat me like I’m your best friend and other times you treat me like someone you never want to let go of. I just don’t understand why you would do this. I get that we weren’t actually dating, but you completely ditched me. You went on a date with someone else when you were supposed to hang out with me. You forgot about me, “ You convey, with tears falling like a silent voice that drips like raindrops, "I want to be more than friends because I'm in love with you. I've been in love with you since you first moved next door...It took me forever to realize how I feel about you. But once I did, it made so much sense. It’s always been you and it only ever will be."
"I don’t love you the way you love me. I don’t think I ever will. I’m sorry I forgot about you and I’m sorry that I just can’t love you the way you do. Maybe it’s best if we spend some time apart from each other. ” Jisung looks away from your face. He can’t handle watching you cry because of him.
“What? Then what about all the kisses and hugs and small gestures? What about literally everything these past few months? This is what I don’t understand. Was it all a game to you? Some sick joke? Lead on your so-called best friend and then completely break my heart,” you question. You could just feel your heart break into pieces. Jisung, the boy you thought was a sweetheart turned to be the devil in disguise. You couldn’t believe the boy you’ve known for so long would turn out to be like this. What’s even worse is that you can’t believe everyone else turned out to be right. Never trust the infamous members of Dreamz because with that, they will break you.
“I’m sorry,” he mutters. He could feel the tears begin to well up in his eyes. He can’t cry in front of you, he can’t show you how hurt he is.
“Save your sorry’s for someone who cares because I’m done. As of now, our friendship is over. If you see me in the halls and classrooms don’t talk to me, better yet, pretend we never knew each other. Do what you do best, forget about me,” you retort with venom lacing every word. You were trying to put on a facade, acting like he didn’t just completely shatter you.
He tried to say something in return, but you cut him off, “Just go Park Jisung.”
He nodded slowly and grabbed his things. As he was walking out the door, he took one last glance at you. He could see the tears stream down your face. He could tell you were holding back from the way you gritted your teeth and clenched your fist. His heart shattered when he could hear a choked sob through your closed door. If only you knew he had a reason for hurting you like this.
Months passed since your fallout with Jisung happened. You and Renjun have gotten closer ever since you stopped talking to Jisung. He drives you to school, hangs out at your house, eats with you at lunch, and studies with you. You still miss Jisung, but Renjun has made it easier for you. He does everything in his power to attempt to cheer you up and forget about Jisung.
The other boys were confused, to say the least. They have no idea what happened between you and Jisung. Neither you nor Jisung has told them anything about why you suddenly stopped hanging out with them both at lunch and all together. And Jaemin? He was beyond frustrated with you two. He could see the longing looks you would give each other. He decided that he was going to finally confront Jisung and get answers. So, he pulls him aside at lunch.
“Jisung, what the hell happened between you and Y/n,” Jaemin interrogates, folding his arms and leaning against the wall.
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Jisung turns away from him.
“Dude, you need to talk to us or at least me. You can’t keep closing yourself off from us. Not only did y/n stop talking to us, but so did Renjun. We’re all confused as to what happened and it’s okay if you don’t want to tell us all, but at least talk to one of us,” Jaemin walks over to Jisung and pats him on the shoulder.
Jisung sighs, “Fine, I’ll talk. Y/n confessed to me.”
“That’s great! I don’t see how that would cause you to stop talking though.”
“I rejected her.”
“What? Why? To be honest, a lot of people already assumed you two were together.”
“Because...I can’t betray my friendship with Renjun. Right before the fair, he confessed and told me that he liked her. He wanted my help. I felt like an asshole after she confessed to me. I honestly didn’t even realize how much of a boyfriend I was acting towards her. I probably looked like a terrible friend to Renjun and like I didn’t care about his feelings. He trusted me and confided in me and I totally betrayed him.” Tears start slipping down his face, he holds his face in his hands. Jaemin hugs Jisung, rubbing his back to stop him from crying.
“Jisung, no offence, but you’re a dumbass.”
“Gee thanks,” he sniffles.
“I mean it in the nicest way possible, but you seriously messed up. I get that you care about your friendship with Renjun, but what about your friendship with y/n? Isn’t that just important? Also Jisung, she likes you, not Renjun. She confessed to you. Not Renjun. And guess what? You like her too. If Renjun is understanding, which he is, he would understand that you would want to be with her. You should talk to them both.”
She told me that she wanted me to never talk to her again. To pretend like I never knew her.”
“If you talk to Renjun then have him talk to her and tell her that you need to talk to her. Just try. Do you really want to graduate high school without your best friend and knowing you could’ve tried to fix it,” Jisung shakes his head no, “Then go talk to them.”
Jisung was nervous. Renjun sat in front of him with a bored expression. Jisung nervously took a sip of his drink and cleared his throat. “Uhm, so. I wanted to tell you that I like y/n...no, I love her.’’
“Is that all?”
“No...I also want to say I’m sorry for betraying your trust and for everything.”
“Jisung, if you just told me that you liked her, this all could’ve been avoided. After the fair and seeing you guys being cute and romantic with each other made me realize that I didn’t like her the way you do. I only think of her as a younger sister that I want to protect. And even now, when you guys stopped talking. I didn’t want her to feel alone, so I left with her.”
“I know I should’ve told you, but I just didn’t want to seem like an asshole, then I ended up being one in the end. But please, can you help me talk to her. I just want to apologize and tell her the truth. I’m not evening going to ask for a second chance.”
Renjun sighs, deeply thinking about whether he should trust him with her heart. But one glance into Jisung’s eyes, he can see the desperation and pleading that he gives in. So, reluctantly he nods his head, “Fine. Okay. But, this is the last chance. If she doesn’t want to talk to you, then that’s that. I don’t want to force her into any uncomfortable situations.”
Jisung grins, Yes sir!”
It was a particularly cold evening. You and Jisung were currently on the roof of his house staring up at the stars. You have his leather jacket wrapped around your shoulders. If it wasn’t for Renjun, he wouldn’t be here talking to you. He has to tell you the truth otherwise it might be too late.
Jisung looks over at you, “I lied to you and I know I should’ve just told you the truth, but I just didn’t want to hurt my friend so I said that I didn’t feel the same and pushed you away, but I ended up hurting you in the process of trying to protect Renjun. I even went on a date with that girl to try to forget about my feelings. But I just couldn’t get you out of my head and I’m really sorry Y/n for the way I treated you. I love you...I love you so much.” Tears gently fall from his face.
You’ve never seen Jisung cry like this before. You wipe the fallen tears and softly caress his face. “Ji, it’s okay. I understand. I love you too,” you reply as a smile graced your lips.
You grab his face and pull him closer to you closing the gap between you. Your lips onto his. They mould together perfectly. You move your lips with his in sync. He wraps his arms around your waist pulling you closer. You thread your fingers through his hair, gently tugging on the strands of his hair. You both pull away from each other slightly out of breath. You giggle noticing Jisung’s slightly messed up hair. Jisung gently rests his forehead against yours, staring into your eyes and softly says with a crack in his voice, “I missed you...a lot.” He smiles and kisses you again. You happily kiss back, only having to pull away for air. “Thanks for giving me a second chance to do it right this time.”

note that it works best with thin lineart (I used SAI2 for this, but I think you can use any art program with a overlay layer mode)
I’ve seen a lot of people reblogging this again - I made an updated version some time ago - with screenshots of the layers and better English, it’s much more clear~ I also did some shading techniques in there, but feel free to ignore that haha!
