Itâs not uncommon to see Willow being tailed by a rotund little hen named Edie, but her feathered friend still likes to surprise her. This time Edie takes off in a waddling sprint, very intent on checking out what the nearest person has in their hands.
She makes her little chicken noises from their heels, while Willow laughs. âPlease, you donât have to give into her demands! Sheâs less threatening than she appears.â
Fitz looked down at the hen at his feet. âI donât think youâd be interested in my phone.â He told her, looking back up at Willow. âUnless you taught her how to text?â
so Iâm not gonna pretend that Iâm used to the whole âgoing back to workâ thing but thatâs a whole other thing.

âItâs good incentive, huh? Iâll have to remember that.â She stood off to the side as he plated up the pie for them and took the seat opposite as he sat down. She waited to take her own bite, listening to him talk and wanting to see his reaction when he finally did. That was her favorite part of baking things for people, their honest reactions when they took the first bite. âHey, itâs great. I bet itâll accommodate all those things whenever youâre ready for them or whatever.â She took her own bite, thinking about his question, the faintest smile on her face as she looked at him. âEventually I think so.â She hadnât really thought about it. âI kinda like still livinâ with my dad and grandma, get to make sure theyâre okay, help them out. Catch a game with my dad as heâs yelling at the Braves for something, bake with my grandma.â She smiled. âBut I guess canât actually live there forever. I do wanna get my own place probably soon.â
Fitz gave an acknowledging nod. He missed living at home sometimes, but he was able to go and do whatever he wanted while living alone. Besides, his parents were in town as well, so it wasnât as though he was that far away. âThatâs sounds like a good time. I love the Braves. Thought Iâd be playing for them one day. But then I decided I wouldnât let my love for baseball be ruined by making it a job.â Fitz took another bite of pie. âThis is so good. I could eat it every day. I canât bake to save my life. Maybe you can show me how to make a cake one day.â

Hitting the small device with the palm of her hand, Kat gritted her teeth in frustration. âTwenty bucks and you donât work?â She shook it then, her eyes lighting up when it emitted a quiet beep. âAlright, weâre on to somethinâ.â Turning on the spot until the sound grew louder, Kat followed in that direction, only lifting her head when it was too late â sheâd already walked straight into someone. âMy bad,â she mumbled, eyeing the man with feigned suspicion. âYou arenât a ghost, are you? Doesnât seem that likely, but this thing suspects otherwise. Serves me right for thinkinâ modern technology could actually pick up on it. Back to the board, I guess.â
Fitz had been wandering around town, a lot of things on his mind. Which was weird for him: usually he was just thinking about a job he had the next day, or which bar he was going to drink at that night. This time, his mind was on something else, or rather, someone else. He could see Kat up ahead, looking at some weird object. He kept walking, thinking she would move out of his way, but, no, she ran right into him. âUh, hi Kat. Um,â He had to actually think about why he wasnât a ghost. âOh, well you ran into me. If I were a ghost, you would have walked right through me. Are you-are you looking for ghosts?â
morgan-callawayâ:
Morgan shrugged her shoulders as he took the items from her, rubbing her hands on her jean shorts a little anxious. âI know, but I wanted to. Just how I was raised I guess. Especially the pie though cause it was part of the deal.â Taking his invitation, Morgan stepped into his place, taking in the interior as he spoke. There was a voice inside her that she couldnât quite make out, but she was definitely grateful for the opportunity to stay and spend more time with him. âAlright, if you insist.â She said, her lip curling up into a little smirk. âThis is a nice place you got here by the way. All yours?â
Fitz started cutting them each a slice of pie, trying to hide the grin on his face that Morgan wanted to stay there a little while. âIf I got such a nice-looking pie, Iâd make a lot more deals.â He set the plates on his small table, with forks, taking a seat. âThis old thing? Itâs the bankâs until I pay it off. But then itâll be mine. And my familyâs, whenever that happens. Thought it best to already have a place my kids could call home. You know, whenever that happens. Iâm not like, in a rush to have kids or anything. Or get married. Or...â He stopped himself from rambling on by shoving a piece of pie in his mouth. âSo what about you? Thought about getting your own place?â He asked, mouth full of pie.

A smile spread across Morganâs lips as the door opened and Fitz came into view. âI did, guess Iâm pretty good with direction. Or followinâ the navigation directions at the very least.â Careful not to let an awkward moment go by, she looked down at what she was holding, extending her hands towards him. âUh, hereâs your shirt. I washed it, too, actually. And hereâs the baked goods I promised ya. Itâs a strawberry peach cobbler. Made sure to stay away from the coconut.â She said with a knowing glance, referencing their conversation the other day.Â
Fitz took the shirt and pie, a big smile on his face. âAw you didnât have to do all that now. But thanks.â He moved aside to let Morgan in, closing the door and tossing the shirt on his couch. âI hope youâre not gonna let me eat this all by myself?â He asked, heading for the kitchen. âPies are meant to be shared anyways. Besides, Iâd really enjoy the company.â
morgan-callawayâ:
In one hand Morgan was carrying @fitz-davenportâ âs shirt that had been left behind the other day. In the other hand was the pie sheâd baked as her thank you to him for coming to look at the water heater. Sheâd promised, and the last thing she was about to do was break a promise. Adjusting things in her hand so she could ring the doorbell, she took a step back with a little sigh, hoping he remembered she was dropping by.
Fitz couldnât remember the last time he had a girl over. Properly. He had been so busy that he fell behind on keeping his home in order. So he was running throughout the house, gathering discarded clothes and pizza boxes from The Cuttery. Sure, it was a bachelor pad, but Fitz wasnât raised in a pig sty. Hearing the doorbell, he did a quick glance-over, checking everything was neat enough for company and opened the door. âHey, you found me.â
