The end of the season.

Sunday marked the end of Fitzy's very first Christmas show season. We did shows all over the city, from the Gladstone Hotel, to Vendor Queens, to St. Stephens, to Sneaky Dee's, to the CBC and finally an outdoor show at the Evergreen Brickworks. We met a whole lot of great customers, vendors, and show organizers, and made lots of new friends. A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and supported us in our first year. We can't wait to see you all in 2014.

The beginning of the Holiday Craft Show Season: Vendor Queens

I will be selling my leather wares this weekend at Vendor Queens, a brand new collaborative retail space at 1092 Queen Street West (Queen and Dovercourt). We're open from 10-7 Saturday and Sunday. Make you you don't miss out on the Inaugural Jubilee either. It's on November 21 from 8pm - 1am.

Scrunchies: They're Making a Comeback

Our Black Leather, Hand Dyed Silk, and Denim Scrunchies have finally made their way into the shop. I'm especially in love with the close ups of the silk ones.

Back at the Brickworks

We’re doing another show at the Brickworks this Sunday. I drove past there just last week, and the leaves were breathtaking! I can’t wait to see them again.

Toronto Indie Arts Market

This Saturday we'll be doing a show at one of my favourite buildings in the city: The Gladstone Hotel. An operational hotel since 1989, this building is filled with amazing architectural details including an operational birdcage elevator.

Parkdale Flea

This Sunday we'll be fighting a Nuit Blanche induced lack of sleep, and hanging out with the Fitzy booth at the Parkdale Flea. The flea runs from 9am-5pm, and is chock full of great local craft and antique vendors. So come on by 1266 Queen West, and say hi.

The end of the thing that started it all.

Well folks, I did it. I made 365 things in 365 days. I can’t believe I made it through. Some days I really didn’t want to make anything at all, but overall it was a really fun project. I’m so glad that I did it, but I’m also so glad it’s done. This project has been amazing for me in so many ways. It’s the reason that I started Fitzy. Now that it’s over I’m looking forward to spending even more time on the business, and taking a little break.

Parkdale Flea

*UPDATE: The flea has been postponed to October 6, 2013*

I’m going to be at the Parkdale Flea this Sunday, from 10am-5pm. The flea is located at 1266 Queen St. West, and features tons of great local vendors. I’ll have some new black Mystery Braid Bracelets at the Fitzy booth, along with all of your old favourites.

41 Days of Patina

One of the things I love most about leather is how it darkens with age. The patina that develops is thanks to the sun, your body oils, and dirt. Leather wears the story of its age, and environment, and these pieces are no different.

The case on the right is brand new, and looks like a newborn baby. I've been wearing the iPhone case on the left for almost every one of the past 41 days. It's seen a lot of sun, and has gotten nice and dark. If you look closely, you'll also notice that the strap is darker at the spot where it touches my neck, coming into contact with my skin, and the occasional bit of dirt. This is definitely an example of heavy use, thanks to the sunny weather we've been having, and my need to always have my phone close at hand. 

I wonder what it'll look like 41 days from now.

The Parkdale Flea

July 8, 2013

Yesterday was the very first Parkdale Flea, and Fitzy’s very first craft show! We had a great time, and met lots of great people. Luckily the weather held out until it was time to pack up, but then it just poured. Thanks to Sam for giving us a ride home in the downpour, Gwen for being my booth buddy for the day, Teresa and Mark for branding the show, and Vince and Josh for organizing the flea.
