The trunk/proboscis is the main upper part of the mouth, acting much like an elephant's, but the "lower jaw" is actually made up of two mandibles much like an insect. more of my take on ancients under their helms, + associated helms off to the side. With the pink farm arrays pearl dialogue mentioning nectar I assumed they'd have some kind of proboscis, coupled with all the vanilla murals having long masks which to me implied they at least had long faces. The two downpour murals are stranger, and they hold less canon weight to me so I chalked it up to foreshortening and a upward curled proboscis. Additionally, the echoes have a "head" tendril that I took as inspiration for the trunk. The statues in the depth have flat faces, which initially was a discouragement from the proboscis headcanon, but it could be wrapped around to the proboscis/trunk being removed from the statue as a representation of further separation from an ancient's identity (the face being crossed out), and thus a better transition to ascension.

thank you and YES! sort of!!

while i havent drawn ancients themselves, i was really intrigued by their armor in the karma murals. ancient fashion spurs so many questions like "where does this character start and end" and "what is this supposed to represent" and "what the fuck am i even looking at" so i tried to replicate the effect

i figure none of these are for casual use and would be more "traditional" pieces meant for art, performance, and theatre. also hence the lack of modern aspects, unlike the ones seen in the murals, since i have yet to figure out how to add modern fashion elements to ancient style...

Seriously though, I haven't done anything similar in, like I don't even remember how long. So I'm kinda proud.

This isn't really a proper design or anything, more a bunch of ideas slapped together to see if they are any good. Primarily, what if the Pebble had a little colar and what if the umbilical was like. Huge and fucked up. Double antennas and iris and colored paper too.

Not really related, but I had to mess with saturation a little since my photocopier is,. it's trying, and this is what happend when I changed contrast all the way to zero:
