Fizz/Tempest x Twi reference for my next gen universe! (I switched from twishy to this ship) it takes place 20 years after the events of the show, Twilight is still the ruler of Equestria, and Fizzlepop is her personal guard and wife (I'll design and draw their kids later)
A bunch of my friends in the MLPDrawingSchool discord were talkin’ Tempest and I realised I hadn’t done a full body design from this picture https:// www. deviantart. com/fluffyxai/art/Comrades-730432336 This is my design for Tempest in a reformed form. Her armour represents her change from the storm king’s army of oppression and fear to fighting for the safety and happiness of all pony kind. I’ve started reading the Season 10 comics finally and it bothers me she’s wearing her storm king armour still. Logo and all. I get the idea of carrying the weight of your mistakes with you, but she wouldn’t want to go around in an outfit that makes everypony scared, reminds them of a terrifying time where they almost lost everything, reminds them of what she did to almost help that happen, and reminds her of her past mistakes and pain. Now, she can move on and feel like she’s found others to support and be supported by. These colours suit her better I thin. Fighting for something better for a change ;3 She also needed a reformed mane haha. I wanted there to be some twilight-reminiscent aspects in there. And a note on the horn artefact, I don’t think she needs to be “fixed” to be accepted. But if this magical prosthetic can help steady her magic and be a convenience for her in her day-to-day life then it’s her choice if she wants to use it. And I imagine for her it’s just a symbol that she’s “not broken anymore”, but she wasn’t broken on her horn, she was broken on the inside X3 And now she sees the light of friendship. Unicorn powers and pretty much got all the strength and power of an Earth Pony AND badass martial-arts & a kickass set of armor? Villains beware. My mark and talent is for hostessing and tea preparation, or service in general, but I've alway felt like I had a supernatural ability to charm ponies and other creatures. Even those types who one might consider a "villain" I have had polite conversations with over tea. Is that like, stupid? Is it foalish to believe I have an ability beyond mere physical strength and endurance? Does being half Unicorn on my mother's side enhance either my natural strength or um "supernatural" attributes?
“That is a wonderful talent, Silver Spoon! You know, I believe that the most powerful magic - second only to friendship, of course - is the magic of proper silverware placement! I’m just kidding, though. I don’t really think that. Just focusing on silverware would be leaving out all of the other types of organizational magic, such as ensuring all of my books are sorted in an easy to understand system… unless i’m feeling really adventurous and want to change it all up to something even better! Subject to date of publication - oldest to newest, naturally? Ooo or maybe even author’s place of birth so I can reeeaaally understand the topography that might have inspired them? Or having a special corner for all of my favourites!

“Er, maybe keep just that part. Anyway, as I was saying, I think that you have a truly wonderful gift. And what makes it so wonderful is that it allows you to share with your friends. I bet you make them feel so special and loved when they see how much care you gift them with.
But on to the topic of your charm, I think that might be something that relates to your unique Earth Pony magic. See, Unicorns and Pegasi have, well, horns and wings with which they can outwardly display their magic. They can impress others with tricks or displays of power. But you learned to cultivate a gift for words.
See, I think that is what makes Earth Pony magic so wonderful - it’s all unique to each pony! Of course, a Pegasus like my friend Fluttershy has her own magic of understanding animals on a deeper level in addition to her wings. But Fluttershy has always felt more grounded - more like an Earth Pony - in her understanding of herself.
I don’t think it’s foalish at all, Silver Spoon! But I’m certain that it has little to do with unicorn magic and everything with what makes you, well, you! There is so much more to being an Earth Pony than just strength - it’s the resilience to realise one’s true talents without having a horn or wings to rely on.”

Early concept art from the art book of the character that would eventually become Tempest Shadow.
In the original script, she was a male unicorn named Cosmos, the long-lost brother of Celestia and Luna. He was an extremist trying to summon a monster known as the Storm King. Cosmos was shrouded in intimidating battle armor, and the reveal that he was a pony and a long lost relative to the sisters was meant to be a big spoiler.
Another concept for the character was a wild pony living alone in the wastelands south of Equestria, a neutral party that gets roped into the story thanks to the main six.
A lot changed between the first and final version of Tempest, as you can see. :v
I love that the earlier you go, the more over-the-top edgy Tempest becomes. Like they had to tone the edge down like five times
Pretty much the entire philosophy of the MLP Movie’s development was “go as extreme as possible at first, and then dial it back to something cool but reasonable within MLP”. If you haven’t seen the art book yet, I implore you to buy it, it’s wonderful.
