“You woke up first?” he grunts before opening his eyes and instantly realizing why that was. So much drink the night before, too much drink the night before. His eyes swim and his head spins so he firmly closes his eyes again. “Ahhh.” he hums in understanding.
Tackles him the moment he walks in.

He’s not shocked by the instant impact of a small body against his own, but he hadn’t the time to gain a good footing so they bowl right over backwards out of the door frame. “Well hello.”

She landed on top of him, a bright smile on her face. “Hey!” She giggled as she sat up on his chest. “So, where have you been for over a month, huh?!” She questioned, poking his face over and over.
Genma just lays there and takes it looking up at her with a roll of his eyes as her small fingers squash his cheeks with every prod. “Well that’s very classified now isn’t it?” he hums amused.

Already thinking over options, Ryū lets him steer her without a fight, a thoughtful hand curled at her mouth. At his words, she glances up to listen, and then can’t help a cringe. “Ooh…yeah, that’s a good point.” Hopefully he didn’t leave anything that’d end up too rank in there…unless he means it’s just empty.
“Well, we’ll just get you all set up with fresh stuff, then! And…clean out anything that, uh…got left too long.” THEN they can get to cooking! “Anything specific you’ve got in mind?”
They were never very far from the produce stall and convenience store so it didn’t take long to arrive in front of all the fresh fruits and vegetables. Genma isn’t very sure exactly what they’re going to make but he’s sure the basics would also just be handy to have in his apartment so he reaches out and starts deciding between bunches of bananas.
“There’s nothing in there that I remember leaving. Maybe a few sauces that I felt could stand the original mission length, not sure they survived the extension though.” he hums before shrugging and standing back up straight “I’ll eat anything, as long as it’s from scratch, an’t stomach any more package foods.”
here she is, handing a crying newborn hana over to genma. " she won't stop and i really need to pee- find her mute button, please. " and then she's scampering off to the bathroom before an accident occurs.

Gen looks down at Hana and sighs moving from his desk in their apartment to see if he can remedy the crying. He undoes the baby from the swaddle and holds her close assuming Areum had already tried feeding and changing her. Skin to skin comfort was all Genma was able to provide and it seemed to be working.

“I am going to take you to dinner,” she laughs. “And I’ll even let you pick where we go. That way you won’t be disappointed.” Cue the cheeky grin.
His next suggestion, though, makes her brighten. Ryū’s always a fan of cooking, after all - and it’s even better when you get to share. “Or we could do that!” And what better way to wind down than just spend a little time whipping something up in the kitchen? Not to knock on any chefs in Konoha, but…there’s always something a bit more satisfying about something made from scratch. Let alone not having to deal with crowds. “I think that’s a great idea. Lead the way!”
He watches her brighten and an amused expression crosses his face, he’d really missed her company, her simple delight in some things. He was glad she likes the idea, he really would prefer his first meal back in the village be something good, and knowing her she wouldn’t let him mess the food up in the slightest, it was destined to be delicious.
Wrapping his arm around her waist he turns them both and begins to head down the street moving his arm to rest around her shoulders as they walk. “We’ll have to go to the store and decide what we should make, I have no doubts my fridge is in dire straights.”

“I need to finish these schedules Areum. Give me some time okay? I’ll be done in no time if you don’t keep distracting me.” he hums glancing at her out of the corner of his eye. “I’ll let you keep me very busy later.”

Beaming happily at the attention, Ryū can’t help a soft snort. “It’s been rather lonely without that charm of yours,” she muses, both a little joking and yet serious. “There’s certainly no one else like you around. It was greatly missed.”
And for good measure, she manages to lift herself up a bit to give his cheek a smooch. “Along with the rest of you, of course. Work’s been a rather quiet place without your escapee escapades, or just your little visits. I think I might just owe you a dinner so we can sit and catch up, ne?”
“You’re going to take me to dinner? Enough to make a grown man blush.” he coos down at her with a wink. “But I accept. Got nowhere I’d rather be. Depending on the food you’re going to be feeding me.” he jests lightly.
“But I could always save your money and you could come with me and we could cook.” he offers. He’s not had a good home cooked meal in a long while, he’s craving something just slightly burnt in the best way -through distraction of good company.

Grey eyes roll, but there’s no way she can stop her grin. “How terrible, a medic poking and prodding when you’re hurt! And to think she’d tease you…how cruel! Surely such a serious, fragile-hearted man like yourself can’t handle such treatment. It’s wholly unfair!” She’s laying it on thick, but…well, she has a lot of lost time to make up for.
Once done giving him a little crap, Ryū softens. “…m’glad you’re back.”
Genma looks down at her as she speaks. Amusement in his eyes as she berates herself in the third person. But he agrees wight along with her just to carry on the joke. “I’m heartbroken every single time.”
Her change in tone leads him to a softer expression as well. “I’m glad I’m back.” he hums wrapping an arm around her. “You’ll have to tell me how you’ve survived without me.” he jokes lightly.

Ryū just gives a breathless laugh, wasting no time in latching onto him. “Yes I’ve missed you!” she jokingly berates.
His teasing tone and expression only make her all the more giddy - it’s been far too long since he’s gotten to give her any sass. “I’d ask you how you are, but you’d better be fine or you’re going to get a stern talking to!”
“I know better than to arrive home with any sort of wound.” he shoots back with a solemn expression. “My favourite medic like to poke and prod and make fun of me when I come home a mess.” he teases. “I heal on the road now. Make sure nothing is visible when I see her.” he adds with a roguish smile.

This already feels dumb.
I should just throw this away. I refuse to start with dear diary I’m not a thirteen year old girl. I’m a thirty something year old man. But you know what the fact that I didn’t just write thirty three makes me a child in itself. A childish thirty three year old man. Gods this is dumb.
