The infectious GamineGamine will get under your skin and stay there
The infectious GamineGamine will get under your skin and stay there!
Shredding through data like a clenched fist through a shallow grave, DuermeDuerme compiles cracking, rustling and disintegrating samples into uncompromising piles of debris and drops it all on top of moments of tenderness via lush samples, voices and synths that struggle but eventually find their way to the surface.
DuermeDuerme's GamineGamine is an unrestrained approach in sound design, collage and avant-electronics.

vivid, three-dimensional frameworks and irrational structures of complex rhythm, at the same time ornament and feverish
tropical interface | scl
The jittering, club-ready pulses of tropical interface’s soundcloud uploads and the releases through his Eco Futurism Corporation imprint are put under the microscope and viewed at a molecular level in his Flamebait debut, scl. Through the microscope and disected, tropical interface’s defined collection of outsider electronics offers spatial scatterings and chimeric, whirring mechanical beats that map out new territories touching on grime, musique concrète and the avant garde. scl negotiates dualisms of vivid, three-dimensional frameworks and irrational structures of complex rhythm, at the same time ornament and feverish. Because of this potent mixture of complexity and clarity, what’s perhaps easily forgotten is the space surrounding it. Every micro-sound, glitch, snippet and clipped rhythmic working is passing through a chamber of vast space that could easily swallow everything up whole. Instead, they work in tandem with one another: Like the relation of living organisms to their physical surroundings.

Through mock and claptrap, through intrusion and self-parody, through the total realisation of each other’s craft
Elevation X Toiret Status | T.D.I.M
Breakbeat and early hip-hop methods of fast sample cutting and blustering edit work, side by side with drum and bass’ rhythmic tropes: intricately processed and following stricter tempo templates would theoretically make for interesting listening and it’s safe to say that in practice, it is and it works. Between Elevation’s beat-making and Toiret Status’ offbeat edit work, this collaboration of ideas and processes only proves that, but T.D.I.M offers even more than you might first think.
ET03 is the first of four ‘right between the eyes’ cutfests in the eminent tradition of the edit record. All four tracks follow a specific idea: A self-absorbed / overripe reproach; an obvious escape from something. Perhaps the surrounding underground and its semblance of seriousness is what we’re running away from here.
Sooner rather than later, it sinks in that we're in the company of two playful beings, battling with their processes; one stretch of drum & bass placed like a playing card against a hand of hyperactive cuts and blasts, one after another. Separated by 6,000 miles but completely in tune with one another, Elevation and Toiret Status’ battle of processes soon work out how to live side by side, under perfect control. It really doesn’t take long before you’re absolutely convinced by the collaboration.
Thanks to (what seems like) Elevation’s conscious decision to time-keep with these abstract pieces and control rhythm and structure against more improvised arrangements, they’re never too difficult to pin down. Instead, these four pieces are focussed and deliberate. Through mock and claptrap, through intrusion and self-parody, through the total realisation of each other’s craft, T.D.I.M isn’t an explosion of ideas, it’s an understanding of two different kinds. What’s perhaps the most interesting thing about this collaboration is that both artists portray different approaches, span different genres via different pseudonyms, but it’s the coming-together of these particular monikers which offers something entirely new and drives underground sound(s) into bold new directions.

beauty may not be as forthcoming as destruction but with patience you’ll find it
CVN | Unknown Nerves
Somehow balancing the high-tech nature of his sound palette with something structurally more organic, CVN (Nobuyuki Sakuma) uses the duration of Unknown Nerves to reconstruct and remodel, offering a contrast to previous portrayals as an artist working within the undergrounds’ recent obsession with destruction and dystopia. Instead, CVN is reminding us that beauty may not be as forthcoming as destruction but with patience you’ll find it and with his help, a new world can be constructed and in this new world, old memories will step forward and allow us to reminisce. CVN manages electronics with precision and subtleness which seems to (intentionally or not) call on a deity or spirit to prize out these memories, long since lost or forgotten. Sometimes it feels like a race against time; drums and synth roll in conjunction with one-another in clinical hits and stabs, progressing rapidly until they run out of steam and submit to concentrated moments of self-control. The absence of violent activity in these pieces, represented by nanoscopic clicks and clips, what sounds like dysfunctional electronics and playfully-tuned vocal stamps and choirs, backed by brooding ambient-tone synthesizers often feel like they’re on the verge of a larger movement about to be actioned. By clipping the hit length of rhythmic sounds, CVN produces a sharp and condensed minimalist aesthetic that powerfully attracts, charms and tempts the listener. The use of voice in Unknown Nerves offers melody through synth choirs and vocal stamps/samples to track pace and rhythm, whilst the glitches and tiny electronic motifs support larger electronic brass, bells and key arrangements, which form a digital space difficult not to welcome and embrace. Sakuma is an important cog in an ever-influential group of Japanese electronic musicians that are drawing inspiration from club-ready pulses, underground movements and artistic approaches in sound and vision to a high-tech/hi-energy world. As internet musicians go and if that’s even a credible term, CVN offers something different; patience and grace where speed, deconstruction and repurposed data or aggressive sample-based collages reign. Sakuma is also a member of Jesse Ruins and has released through Orange Milk, Baba Vanga and Dream Disc as CVN.
