Performance by Kapela Maliszów of the oldest recorded Polish folk song "Oj chmielu" ("Oh hop")

The song is performed on wedding ceremonies, at midnight, by older women, addressing the bride. It is believed to date back to pre-Christian times, which is indicated by it's tonality and use of pentatonic scale. The melody was first recorded in the 19th century by Oskar Kolberg, who traveled all around Poland collecting ethnographic material. Thanks to him we know the song was known across all of Poland, by both nobility and common folk.
