Until my fire burns out, I will glow. I love Harry Potter. I love Sherlock and Supernatural. I've also fallen in love with Game of Thrones. For those who are curious: I am a pansexual gender fluid person. I usually abide by female pronouns. Don't worry about them though. I usually ignore them. I believe in feminism but I DO NOT believe in demeaning someone because they aren't part of the minority. I am white, but to those who are any other race, I'm so so sorry for every white privileged asshat who has made your life difficult. For the record, when I say that I believe in feminism, I mean that everyone is equal. Women are equal to men. Trans people are equal to cis people. I also believe in equality in general so if you have certain pronouns that you use, and might not be comfortable with them yet, TAKE PRIDE IN YOURSELF.
the weirdest thing about the education system is that pretty much every teenager ever is so stressed out about schools that they pray for disasters or fake illness or try to kill themselves and yet nobody has ever thought to themselves “hey maybe our system is flawed” and instead all they ever think is “kids these days are so lazy and selfish” like what the fuck is up with that man
And I can’t remember who posted and my computer was being funky so I couldn’t reblog it or like it. But essentially, it said that if you have a mental illness, it’s lying to you. It’s telling you that you’re friends secretly don’t like (LIE) and that you are ugly (LIE) and that you are weight repulses people (LIE). Essentially, it was comprised of a short list of things that you think or feel while you have depression or anxiety, and that your metal illness is lying to you. And whoever posted that said it way better than I did but I wanted to thank them. So if that was your blog, or you posted something like that, thank you. It reminded me that what I feel right now is just a chemical imbalance. one day, I won’t feel constricted by these lies that an illness is whispering into my brain and echoing in my heart.
This might be silly, but I am always annoyed when I think of the fact that Harry, Ron and others never did their NEWTs and just became aurors just because they fought in the last battle. It doesn’t seem fair to others, smells like favouritism and doesn’t really give a good image to the new Ministry of Magic if you ask me…
Yeah, that’s what happens after a system COLLAPSES – near anarchy. In fairness, I think after the war the Ministry was scrambling to put itself together again, and that would include a completely new Auror department (because it’s canon that half the Aurors were corrupt and working for Voldemort, and it says something that the other half, half of this force which is supposedly in place to fucking protect Britian from Dark Wizards, didn’t bother showing up at the battle. Tonks was the only Auror there). So of course they picked from the kids who actually DID show up to protect the world and fight this battle, and honestly as horrific a choice as that is it’s hardly the stupidest one in a world where the majority lets 17 year olds fight their major battles for them. Like let’s face it, in this situation standard NEWT requirements aren’t nearly as important as proof that someone is actually willing and relatively capable of doing the job that an Auror is supposed to do. And then after things calmed down, those kids actually proved to be pretty damn good at their jobs and there was no real point of making them go back and do exams for a job they’d already been doing for a couple years at this point.
my favourite part from book 3 has to be when hermionie is done with divination
its just so funny omg professor trelawney is like HERMIONIE YOURE REALLY SHITTY AT THIS and hermionie just stares at her for a moment before getting up and basically shouting “IM DONE IM 100% DONE IM GONE IM LEAVING” and she kicks open the door and just leaves the classroom and doesnt return ever again
That the moment you need help with something and need help from one specific person, that person seems to disappear. And as soon as they show up, they act like it isn't their fault that you weren't able to get in touch with them. That they couldn't quickly text to say that they're on the train or going to the store or in class. They couldn't call you after the test was over or emailed you to say that their phone is broken or Facebook messages you to say that they're in a meeting. Or they didn't have their phone with them. Why wouldn't they have their phone with them? And then, after they explain with their dumb, obviously useless answer, because in the end, there are only a few really good reasons that someone wouldn't have there phone with them while they were in the park or at the movies or whereever, someone else butts in and asks if you could have used any other tactics to complete the thing that you need help with. NO, IDIOT. If I need someone's help with something, I can assume that I have tried everything else and it did not work. Which is why I resorted to needing this persons help. So, the random idiot tries to argue and point out several ways that you could have completed the task. Either the idiots ideas are stupid or you tried them and they didn't work. Or both. Now obviously, if someone is sick or in a very serious meeting or in school or in a place where the reception is horrible or don't have a phone, then that's a different story. But if you really needed that person, we can assume that you two are close. Which means that you know that their phone isn't broken. Which is why you are calling them. Because they have a phone. To keep in touch with people.
NASA *gushes*: Oh, Pluto. Look at you. You look so lovely and gorgeous! Pluto: Go fuck yourself, space nerds. I still remember when you tried to kick me out of the fucking solar system.
This goes for assholes, too, guys. I know a couple who went tubing once, and they had to re-air their tubes, but the guy thought it would be funny to stick the tip of the air compressor up to her bikini trunks, the air ruptured something inside her and she died within thirty minutes.
Okay so there’s this theory, and I’m sure most Potter Fans have heard it, that the reason for Snape’s profound hatred and abusive tendency towards Neville (yes, he was a bully to other students as well) was that if Neville was the Chosen One, Lily would have lived. I will now go onto a small tangent and come back to this in a little while.
Snape’s love for Lily was almost obsessive though. She turned him down when they were teenagers. Why? Because he called her a racial slur. Of course, most teenagers say things that are regrettable. But in today’s day and age, how many people would find it acceptable for a teen to make a homophobic joke? I ultimately transferred high schools in my senior year because of the amount of homophobic comments I heard in the hallways. So I, personally, am proud of Lily for taking initiative and choosing to back away from a friendship that was making her uncomfortable and hurt. No one should be the butt of a derogatory comment like that.
Now back to Neville. His parents were tortured to the point of oblivion. Frank and Alice can’t even recognize their own son. He likely saw Bellatrix Cruciatus his parents like Harry saw Voldemort blast Lily with Avada Kedavra. Even if Neville didn’t see it, he probably heard their tortured screams (like if he was in his crib and thy were in the kitchen or living room or something). Despite that, when Neville saw the boggart in Professor Lupin’s class, it was Snape that popped out. Snape was upset that Lily could have lived, had Voldemort marked Neville instead. Snape, who was horrible to many students, who told Hermione that he saw no difference when Draco jinxed her teeth to grow abnormally long, who confiscated a book from harry because “Library books aren’t allowed out of the building” (I think that happened in the first one?). But he tried to force Neville to poison his own toad, constantly called him stupid, picked on him mercilessly. I know he belittled all of his students (except for the Slytherin’s), but the way I read the books, he was especially cold to Neville. So I absolutely back the theory that he resented Neville for not being the Chosen One. But I think it made him less of a character. James was a bully in his years at Hogwarts. That is stated I get it. And he would likely be one of the people I would have hated, had he been a real person, and I would have gone to school with him. But he grew up. Lily was able to pull herself from one toxic friendship. She wouldn’t then submit to a toxic relationship. James grew up to become a loving father and caring husband. He fought Voldemort outright. Had Lily not been in danger, Snape wouldn’t have switched sides.
