Making an official Intro Post here!

Hi, I am Flamingeaux (she/they), and am currently a graphic design student in college. I’m mostly a fanartist for varying fandoms, but recently I’ve found such a love for Witch Hat Atelier. I first heard about the manga in November 2021, but didn’t start reading it until the next months and I was so hooked. I didn’t realize there was a community for it until this summer 2022.

This one was so fun to paint! I thought I'd be taking a break from star themed stuff after spending waaaay too much time on the Star Projector Kickstarter but somehow I just ended up back to painting stars anyway lol

I’m not sure, but I think that tree might be haunted 👀 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This started in my sketchbook and became a painting ~ painting twisty trees is so soothing!

Fabric folds are so hard. At least for me. The more detail I add the more they start to look like frosting on a cake. Crispness does not come naturally to me. But I try!!

When in doubt of which bit of media you'd like to make fanart of, combine them 😎✨

I kind of think this works because I relate to both WHA and IDWTBAMG for the different ways they reflect being an artist, WHA for the journey and how you can find bits of yourself in different characters and relate no matter where they are in their progress as witches and IDWTBAMG for being a great allegory for artist burnout and how sometimes that results in a complicated relationship with the thing you used to love doing and distancing yourself from it a bit for your own mental health (which I relate to heavily 😅). Side note: I genuinely think Zira would make a good witch, just maybe don't have her be an apprentice with Coco, I don't think the constant danger would be good for her 😂

I was inspired by how @inbabylontheywept turns bad days into stories filled with laughter and whimsy (the first post I saw of his was the herring/ 8 am Smeagol one). With that, friends, I warn you of this: no amount of saved time or money is worth the stench of this many damp, half-washed socks. Please, please do not try and become the Icarus of Laundry at home.

Doing a museum themed stamp rally for WHA at Denver Fanexpo! Here's my prize piece, based on Monet's "Bridge over a pond of water lilies" :D I think it turned out rather nice <3
