[text] Well, I’m not sure if I’d say all of it is good news…[/text]
[text] Some of it is good, though. I managed to beat the Johto League. [/text]
How could he tell Barry about what happened with Simon in the Ice Path? He sent those texts right when Simon died, and some time had passed since then…that didn’t stop the subject from hurting a bit.
Your Best Pal! @ 1:57 pm, 8/16/2014: "...What's the bad news, Lucas? You know you can tell me."
-------------------------------------------------------------
Barry soon sighed in an anxious, rattled manner as he soon began to twiddle his thumbs together. Assumptions and fears were darting through his mind, and for a split second, he felt like chucking his phone to the nearest brick wall. Lucas could sometimes prove to be stressful-- annoying, even. But he knew that Lucas needed him-- that Lucas needed someone to lean on. Barry wasn't going to abandon him after what they've been through and suffered, not even if it would save him from pain.
Thankfully, the attack Clemont had commanded his Emolga to use was a very swift and well, quick attack that could take care of business. Unfortunately, he didn’t give off much damage due to the attack being a weak one, but the Gym Leader was glad they could chop off some energy from the opposing Pokemon. As the Infernape stumbled back a few steps, Emolga found time to glide back to its side of the battlefield, making sure that any close range attacks wouldn’t hit it.
Both sides were in a sticky situation, especially for Emolga. He could only do so much by just hardly getting in close. If it were to get in closer, Clemont knew it would be bad news. Long range attacks wouldn’t work either, as some of them take a while to charge up, such as Emolga’s Volt Switch. The blond sighed and looked over to his Pokemon, with a worried look on his face. He could tell that it was getting tired, with its heavy breathing, sweat running down its face. He knew he might just faint if another Stone Edge was fired at it.
Not too soon, the trainer commanded for his Pokemon to utilize Stone Edge. The move that Clemont feared for him to use. Now he knew it would end for Emolga, and he had no other moves to use. But, they could at least try and hope for the best.
"Emolga, try Volt Switch again. Quickly!"
The Gym Leader had commanded his Pokemon, he knew that the electric rodent wouldn’t charge it up on time. It was worth a shot, though. They’d never give up.
But as all moves go. Emolga had been too slow to charge up the ball of electricity to hurl at the opponent, and had been slammed by the jagged stones.
Hard.
An explosion of electricity could be seen, and so could Emolga. Falling down to the battlefield with a trail of smoke lingering behind it.
It was over, it was definitely over for Emolga. It wouldn’t move at all, it was breathing heavily, but Clemont knew it didn’t have the energy to battle anymore. He recalled the Pokemon back into its capsule.
"Well, it looks like you took down my most speediest Pokemon. But that’s not all I have left!" He exclaimed, putting Emolga’s Pokeball into one pocket, and pulling another ball out of the other pocket. The blond threw the capsule into the air and released his most sturdy Pokemon, a Magnezone. He knew there was a disadvantage, but as a Gym Leader, Clemont had a few tricks up his sleeves.
"First move’s all on you."
Barry felt euphoria once the Emolga went back to its capsule, but even he knew that the battle was far from over. Clemont had already flaunted his skill and prowess in battle, his wit being his ammunition and his creatures being the trigger for it all. They were in sync; determined to win and ready to do whatever it took to claim victory. It was more than enough to allow a smirk to curl across Barry's lips.
The trainer from Sinnoh took a hard and long look at the metallic beast in front of him, its silver coat pleasing to the eye and its potential sending chills down his spine. Barry already knew that it had a steel-typing tacked onto it, but what he didn't know was the amount of power that it held. Its potential. The very thing that held that creature together and allowed it to be brought into the battle.
Clapping his hands together, Barry fixed himself into a pose that allowed him to point his finger forward. His stance was monumental and strong, and the passion behind his looks were more than enough to show that he was not afraid. Without any delay riddling over him, Barry called forth in a tremendous voice to continue on with the match.
"--QUICK! Flare Blitz!"
The elemental creature heeded the word of its trainer, soon flinging itself forward and dancing among the field underneath it. The look in its eye was primal, fierce, and competitive in every single sense. Its fists balled up like wrecking-balls used for demolition, both held out forward to be the brunt of the attack. Once a fiery aura began to envelope the Infernape in raw power, it attempted to ram itself into the steel-type without any mercy.

Exhaustion is the first thing that he notices at first glance; confusion
is what can be seen in his own expression as the other blatantly stops
in his tracks — eyes the former so energetically & then greets him in less
than a full minute. Poor guy was probably drained by the timed he had
entered the city from wherever the hell he had began.
&he simply waits for the other to eventually calm himself down; a careful
gaze looming over the other — observing.
❝ …The one ‘n only, dude.
Y’here for sightseeing, or what? ❜
"Heheh! Well, guess that's ONE way to put it!"
Barry's tone was as energetic as his personality, carefree and uplifting in every sense. He had spent many days venturing to Viridian, and only now was it starting to pay off. He could feel the refreshing winds fill his lungs with a new-found sense of glory, and as such, he placed both arms behind his skull before facing the other.
He eyed the male for only a bit, a cheeky smile curling across his face before he immediately replied without any qualms. "Soooo, who're you!? Got any store behind ya or what!?"
[text] Barry? It’s me, Lucas. I got a new phone. A PokeGear, actually. They’re pretty handy. [/text]
[text] Also…where are you right now? Out of curiosity. [/text]
Your Best Pal! @ 1:18, 8/16/2014: "Yeah!? What's up!?" Your Best Pal! @ 1:18, 8/16/2014: "Got any good news!?"
((Sorry for the absence. Shit came up and limited my time on here. I'll try and be more active starting tomorrow.)))
«¤»— "Above nothing." The words came out sharp, daggers in the air. He’s a hypocrite, and that much was obvious from the sudden swing in his demeanor. Maxie can hold a superior air, one of aloofness, but not for long, and his grip was slipping. Too often did he fall back into viciousness, unable to act too reserved for wrath. “What I do, what that entails, that is none of your concern! Whatever you’re ‘sick' of is irrelevant, and, frankly, not my problem. If you have nothing to do but criticize me, I have no qualms about putting you in your place!” The threat was clear, and not to be taken lightly. “Otherwise, leave.”
"--But who do you think you ARE!? You can't just treat others like that and expect everything to go YOUR way! If you think you just just smack-talk me and not get smacked back, then YOU'RE the one that needs to get the heck outta MY face!"
Despite that threat-- despite the fact that this man was dangerous, Barry didn't move an inch. In fact, he immediately took a step forward, palms balled into fists as his golden pupils of fury were shot directly into the other's eyes. He dealt with men like this before, more specifically Cyrus. They were ruthless, taciturn, so arrogant and dependent on their plans. He let them nearly push him around once-- nearly crush his spirits and send him back to the playpen known as home.
He would NEVER let that happen again. No matter the risk.
As Lance expected, the trainer was offended after being called weak. A typical reaction, but exactly what he wanted. If he was just going to accept his weakness without trying to defend himself or improve, then there would be nothing to do there.
The Dragon Tamer listened every word without a single twitch in his expression. Eyes narrowed as if he was bored, but analyzing everything said by the other to find all the points to defend his point or to be used against himself. It wouldn’t be the first time a trainer contradicted themselves by wanting so desperatly to find a way to reach Lance’s expectations.
And… That wasn’t the case. The boy was upset, yes, but that wasn’t making him hesitate about a single word. He was saying that from the bottom of his heart, completely sure and convinced of his feelings about his Pokémon. And he didn’t seem afraid of starting a battle with him if that meant to be strong. No… Probably, that guy wasn’t talking just about beating him, but proving how his Pokémon trusted and loved him as he did with them.
Of course, Lance was convinced that there was no way that trainer could defeat him, but that wasn’t really what he needed to know.
The rest of his words were the usual every trainer would say, but with that conviction added. It was not anything new to him. A goal, a title for which he and his Pokémon had to become stronger and share every moment together…
But then there was that next statement.
"Hell, we even fucking— CRY— we CRY together!”
Lance smiled. not in complete honesty, of course, it was still the confident smile he usually wore. But it wasn’t arrogant this time. Even if he wouldn’t show it, he was actually glad to hear something like that. Because, sad as it was, everyone was happy to share laughs with their Pokémon, even to share one’s own tears, but never minded their Pokémon’s tears. They would usually say “it will be okay”, "don’t worry", "I’m here for you", "we’ll be friends forever" and more cheesy, stupid things to cheer them up so they stopped crying and the trainer could feel like a good person. Fake and hypocrite, that’s what they all were. And most of them didn’t even notice when their Pokémon were actually sad. But all those cheerful words solved nothing to those Pokémon. Everyone would say “my Pokémon cry with me”.
Instead, that boy… Barry Ace, he said? Barry said "we cry together" with all his confidence.
And the last thing he said was everything Lance needed to know about that boy.
“To me, Pokemon are just like any other person! They’re like you and me!”
That was enough to know that Barry wasn’t weak as Lance himself had said before. And even if he was… That guy had already said it: he’d improve and become stronger if he wasn’t enough already.
That was one of the few moments when Lance was glad to be wrong first. Finding worthy trainers was always like finding a flower in a dump. Of course, that was only the beginning. Lance was sure they could talk long from now on, and even make him an ally of the Elite Four. Yet, he could be wrong again about that, so there was no need to rush everything.
The dragon tamer waited until the other trainer finished, giving him a moment to break. Keeping the smile, he spoke then.
"That’s enough, Barry. You’ve already proved how strong you are. And, honestly, I’m glad you did. It’s really strange to find someone able to answer like you’ve done. That confidence in oneself and one’s Pokémon isn’t common, and neither are some of the things you just said. Of course, they should be… But that doesn’t matter now.” Lance didn’t need to see one of Barry’s Pokémon to believe him anymore, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to make sure. "I don’t find necessary to ask your Pokémon about you, but… As I said, could I see your starter? After that, I’ll answer all the questions you have about Dragon-types.”
Barry's movements came to a stop, head turning towards the other in a mix of both surprise... but otherwise pure content. There was a weight that finally left his heart, his words truly getting towards the other and being able to connect with his mind. Barry's passion always was an inferno that should never have been taken lightly, and fortunately for him, the Dragon Tamer by the name of Lance knew that well enough. Despite their methods, age, opinions, and experience... they both genuinely loved and yearned for Pokemon to truly live in peach and prosperity.
The lips of the boy widened, content washing over him as a sigh of relief finally escaped from his throat. There wasn't much more he could say at that point, mouth already streaming forth his beliefs in a speech that was riddled with a fiery passion. He knew that he had nothing to prove to this man, but he still wanted to solidfy himself as a competent and confident trainer that knew how to handle Pokemon. That knew how to tame them, live with them, breathe with them, and even go as far to feel WITH them... not FOR them.
And what better way than to show his starter Pokemon? His Infernape, the haughty fire and fighting-type Pokemon, always by his side even whenever the going was rough?
Looking up at the other in silence, he allowed his right palm to slowly crawl towards a spherical capsule of red and white. Said palm immediately clasped onto the iconic ball of transportation, soon being brought before the blonde haired trainer so his golden pupils could marvel at the flame-like sticker that was embedded onto that ball. Memories and a sense of euphoria flickered through his mind, and as such, his smile softened into a mighty flag that signified his sense of adoration and pride in his family.
If Lance truly wished to gaze at his starter Pokemon, then he would NOT be disappointed. Not while Barry Ace stood by it triumphantly, smiles coating their faces and hope burning for the future majestically behind them.
"Take a few steps backward, bud! Because I'm going to warn you right now..." Trailing off before holding the sphere aloft into the sky, he regained his thoughts and proudly bellowed out the rest of his statement. A statement that was more of a promise than a streak of overconfidence.
"We'll BOTH show you just how much we're in sync! No matter how many times you'll look at him, the feelings we'll like, NEVER change! You can say whatever you want to him, but he knows EXACTLY what's the truth and what isn't! He may not be a dragon, but he doesn't need to be! All he needs to be is my family and I'm like, WAY MORE than satisfied with that! I'm friggin' excited because HE'S my greatest pal!"
{/Barry was a good friend. Just like he did his best to keep calm for her, she did let herself get a bit excited, and fast paced to keep up with him. Both of them had a healthy friendship of give and take with each other. As quiet as she was, when excited enough she was exactly like him. So as she hobbled her way over to him, Dawn had to stifle her giggles as she climbed on his back. Sometimes she forget how much he works out.}
"Barry’s tip is me recording the movie he wants. And not biting his hair off for being loud."
{/As lazy as she was, Dawn was a pretty light person. Perhaps it was her lack of eating that made her so light? Dawn, unlike Barry, conserved a lot of energy. Maybe it was all the stories she’s read about famine, but she figured conditioning herself to go days without food would be better than not being able to survive one hour without eating. She’d rather spend her lunches and dinners reading anyway. Books didn’t read themselves.}
"Barry, we should hang out more. —And by that..I mean we should hit the battle Arcade together."
While Dawn was lethargic and more interested in being lulled off into a world of dreams. Barry was more than eager to let his body speed down paths and keep his heart pounding with strength. His passion was being fit, for both his own sake and the sake of his Pokemon. He had always been like that, but it wasn't until after Team Galactic's interference that he became more serious and dedicated at bettering his health and skills. They nearly took their lives once, and he wouldn't let it happen again.
Propping her to a position that would be more comfortable, the trainer from Twinleaf began to nonchalantly march down the path beneath him with little worry. His pupils were set forward, but his ears were more than in-tune with what the female was saying. With a grin coating his face, he allowed an iconic chuckle to escape from within before replying to her with a robust amount of enthusiasm!
"Haha, Battle Arcade, huh!? I beat you once, and I'll do it again! You know that I'm way too good at that for my own good, ya know! Besides, I've been getting even better than before!"
